I grew up with that also, haven't done it since. Waffles, PB, and honey.
At home fav b-fast: english muffin, melted cheese, bacon, over easy egg stacked up.
Out to eat: Southwest style benedict with pulled pork.

An underrated fast food breakfast is Corner Bakery. I really like those flat bread sandwiches for a low calorie option.
Ingredient is also very good for fast food.
If you want to go old school fast food without regard for calories, Hardee's just might be the best.

Omelets can be tough to get perfect. I mean, it is most likely that part of it is still runny or too dry and who knows if the cheese will be melted enough, unless you are using some crap oily processed cheese food.
If you like omelets, frittata are the way to go. Much easier to get exactly how you want it in pretty much every way.

omelettes aren't really that hard once you get the hang of it though... Need to fold / take off heat while it is still barely runny on the top and it will cook through as it rests for a minute.

It's a much nicer kitchen, and will be way easier to prep and cook in overall, but almost no high-rises in Chicago have gas stoves. My cast irons are heartbroken.

Takes forever to heat up, I basically have to cook everything on high. You have to physically remove the pan to get away from the heat, easy to overcook.

How about a simple one: Apple Fritters from John's Space Age Donuts. I am not a huge sweets-for-breakfast guy, but these are amazing. If you get there after 9am, there is a good chance they will be sold out of them.

Usually cholula and black pepper on my eggs, but I’ve been on this Whataburger spicy ketchup on everrrything kick lately (had an amazing experience w/ Chick-fil-A waffle fries the other day, whoa), and used it instead of hot sauce. It was pretty amaze, so I get it Wacky.

Old post I know, and you have probably heard this a million times, but don't ever use milk to make scrambled eggs. Just a little plain old water makes them light and fluffy and delicious.

I have been eating steel cut oats with an egg on top almost every morning for a while.
It's pretty great. I cannot believe it took me so long to give steel cut oats a try but they are delicious and the texture is incred.
And a little tiny bit fills you up for HOURS on end.

I have made them overnight in crock pot on a couple of occasions: steel cut oats, H20, 1/2 and 1/2, salt, brown sugar, cinnamon and pecans. Fills your home with a lovely aroma in the morning and the oats give you the strength to do what needs to be done. They are good on the stovetop also.

Toasted gluten free bread, melted vegan cheese, jalapeño chorizo, poached egg. One topped with green pepper Cholula and the other chili garlic Cholula.

No photos but my lady friend made me a fantastic breakfast salad: bacon, eggs eggs over easy, arugula, cherry tomatoes. Really nice start to the day.
