You can suggest others to be added and I'll decide if they are good enough to make the poll.

I love hot sauce, SD.
-
Love this saucey tale
Years ago a leading brand of hot sauce was experiencing a drop in sales. They had a great market share and their margins were fine but the product was lagging on the sales side.
The CEO called in marketing, sales, accounting, and product formulation to determine the problem. "Let's do market research." said the VP of Marketing. "It's not the product mix." cried the formulator. "Sales is doing their part, but we could always increase the spiff," they said. "The numbers don't lie," moaned accounting. "I don't care who did what. I just want the problem fixed." demanded the CEO.
The management teams quickly set to work to determine the problem. Weeks passed and many a dollar was spent on trying to solve the issue. To make matters worse, news of their diminishing sales reached the press, and it was spreading throughout the world. The CEO was in a panic.
One day, unexpectedly, someone stopped in to see him about this sales issue. In the CEO's office, the man explained he knew what the problem was, but he would not let them know how to solve it until they worked out a compensation schedule.
The CEO agreed to all the man's conditions, and called an executive management meeting for early the next morning. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the meeting to begin as the mysterious visitor with the plan took the stage. He began by saying that he was a lifelong customer of Brand X hot sauce. He said he read that the company was having financial issues and immediately knew what the problem was. The audience of management and executives grew more anxious as he continued his speech.
"And now, ladies and gentlemen," said the man with the plan, "I'm here to tell you that the way to increase your sales is to make your hole bigger."
All the executives were stunned and dumbfounded. No one knew what he meant.
He continued, "For years I have had no issues with using your fine sauce, but a few months ago I noticed your product was harder to get out of the bottle. After repeatedly shaking the bottle, only a few drops came out. Thinking it was clogged, I examined the hole and found it to be remarkably smaller then the previous bottle I had. Taking a pair of scissors, I made the hole bigger and more sauce came out. When I saw your dilemma in the paper, I laughed and figured many other people must be having the same issue I had of not being able to get the product out of the bottle. So, I encourage you to make your hole bigger. This will allow more sauce to come out, your consumers to use more sauce in fewer shakes and with less frustration, and customers will buy more product more frequently!"
The CEO, execs and management were shocked! Several months previous to this, they had changed the diameter of the hole as a cost savings initiative. No one imagined that decreasing the size of the hole would consequently decrease sales. The company caused its own problem. Their management was too close to see the proper solution, and could not get out of their own way. That same day, the company resumed its original hole size and eventually their sales resumed to their previous levels.

I'm a pretty big hot sauce guy. I have a collection of about 15 sauces that I use for various foods/ moods.
Marie Sharp's Habanero sauce (found at eggct.)
-
Have you guys ever went into a hot sauce store? It's amazing! I never know where to start.
-
are we talking trickily hot sauce here or pico and such?
-
Have you guys ever went into a hot sauce store? It's amazing! I never know where to start.
Can you taste test the sauces? Do they provide milk to cleanse your palate?
-
Sauce is so situational, if you pick just one, you either eat the same kind of food all the time or you haven't tasted around.
Valentina is the best for mex or texmex.
Sriracha is a great asian but Go Chu Gochujuan is pretty great too.
Louisiana is really good for southern food or comfort food.
-
I went to a hot sauce place in Key West that was BYOB. like, there was a bar and the bartender ladies brought out unlimited samples of the suaces and chips and you could set your booze or whatever next to you and chow down on free sauce samples and chips and drink your drink.
-
I think we can all agree that franks red hot, Crystal, Cholula, Tabasco, tapio, texas pete, Marie Sharps are all mostly flavorless dogshit, right?
-

Yes. No. There's a place called silly chili in Eureka Springs, AR and they lay it all out for you. Have you ever had jalapeno jelly on a cracker with cream cheese?!
-
frank's is great because you can buy it in like a gallon and mix it with butter and stuff to make your own wings
-
Tabasco Chipotle is still my fave.
-
Cholula in general, but Franks if I'm making buffalo wings.
-
Tabasco Chipotle is still my fave.
Yes. Any adobo sauce is up my alley.
-

This is what the Peanut does. 1 gallon Franks + 1 lb butter + 2 tbsp coarse black pepper.
-
Have you ever had this? It's fantastic. I can't find it in the midwest but have found it on the east coast. Amazing on scrambled eggs

1. Tabasco. The tried and true favorite, what all hot sauces compare themselves too.
2. Crystal. Never had it until I went to New Orleans and it was everywhere. Love it and wish I could find it in KC.
3. Texas Pete - Yeeooowwww! This is some grade A hot sauce here. Also the bottle has a caricature of an over the top cowboy.
Look at this silly guy.

4-60. Everything else, tons of good sauces.
61. Cholula. A hot sauce that isn't hot. Cholula is the KU Fball of hot sauces, just complete and utter garbage.
-

This is pretty well spot on. Also, Firehouse Subs is good not great though but the fact that they have all of those hot sauces to choose from is pretty cool of them.
-
I want a pickled egg with tabasco on it right now... and some chicharones
-
i love all hot sauce, but i'm pretty loyal to Tobasco original. i also saw a piece on 60 minutes about them and the owner seemed really cool.

The other day, I accidentally picked up the habanero Louisiana hot sauce instead of the regular. I drenched my taco salad with it and I never knew what a surprise I was in for. It's pure fire! I still don't feel right.

El Yucatec is great, we discovered it in Mexico the first time we had it. Were so sad I forgot to put it in the checked bag and had to toss it at the airport. Luckily found it locally at the groceria.
Tapatio is my favorite all around though, love the smokiness.
Tabasco is garbage.

Just google it. It's fairly simple. Also, if you really like habaneros (both the flavor and the heat), consider homemade habanero ice cream. It's good.

Try Primal Scream from s local KC Thai restaurant called tasty Thai. I was gifted a bottle and am putting this stuff on everything. It's not gut rot hot but it's got a great flavor and still has heat.
Disclosure I know the family but my only payment for this endorsement is aforementioned free bottle of hot sauce.

Rye's hot sauce is best
This is true. Corvinos hot sauce they bring with their chicken is really good too. Pretty similar from my memory of rye.

My #1 favorite hot sauce was always Burns & McCoy out of Ft. Collins. They had these quaint looking bottle labels that said "Handcrafted in Colorado." It was delectable stuff. Then, they apparently went through some kind of rebranding or something and I haven't bought any since.
