I hate dealing with teenagers/millenials.  They're so irresponsible and disrespectful -- too preoccupied with learning how to ollie, I presume.  They all have outlandish wardrobes and engage in potty humor, which I cannot stand.

This is all likely because their brains haven't completely formed yet.

Hey Greg, posting from your SAMSUNG-SM-G900A, let me explain something to you. Your generation is a bunch of pussies. You're more dependent on technology and other people than my generation. Your vocabulary and spelling are worse than my generation. You're lazier than my generation. Your Star Wars toys and Legos are worse than my generation. Your posture and physical strength are worse than my generation. And unless something dramatically changes, your kids are going to be even more mumped up than you.

Really the best of everything; but millennials are great too, not as great as the Y's but great nonetheless. I hope millennials are better parents than gen X and Y'ers though, we're very shitty and indulgent parents.

Glad we agree.

In all relative seriousness. The flaw of his analysis is that he shouldn't place these people by where they were born but who were the biggest consumers of their music, who made them famous. Baby boomers didn't make Michael Jackson famous. Michael Jackson, Prince, and Madonna are firmly in the MTV generation which obviously belongs to us. The boomers get the Beatles and Elvis as they were hated by the WW2 generation.

yeah this is all true. millenials do not listen to most of the people on that "Gen X" list tho. idk.

another thing that author did not consider is that boomers had like, zero options on what to listen to, which made big acts even bigger. and also there are ~30 million more boomer consumers than X'ers, so if you're measuring sales or something it would be very hard for an X artist to compare to that

There's no way to tell but I do think that Gen Xers purchased significantly more music than Boomers, like waaayyy more. I know I have purchased probally 30 fold more music than my parents combined and I bet that's pretty common for Gen X'ers. I also don't agree that boomers had less music, it's just how we access music has changed significantly with each generation. The difference between boomers and Xers was almost 100% tied to the proliferation of the music video and the compact disk which made acquiring music much cheaper. Connectivity has made the difference between Xers and millennials. I don't have as much access to new music because I am opposed to purchasing access through subscription services. I spend more money on music but get less access to it. I purchased a 1989 cd for like $15. A total ripoff but it's how I consume music.

You want to talk about bringing the generations together; boomers can be nostalgic about records, Xers can be nostalgic about stealing from Columbia House, and millennial hipsters can continue to act like vinyl produces the best sound.

Exactly.

My wife is 33 years old and is absolutely a Gen Y'er. They are the children of baby boomers but were born too late to have memories of the 80s. Gen Y'ers grew up in the 90's but experienced it much differently than X'ers. Millennials were born in the late 80's to 90's, don't remember life before the information age.

Not a high rate in Japan at least. Too much stop and go and mountains makes it a chore. And you have to take a separate driving test to get an endorsement on your license to be allowed.

Actually, looking at the results, the millennials play less video games than the other generations. The newspaper probably is a big one. The marriage question kind of discredits the whole survey, though. It says only 14% of boomers' parents stayed married and only 11% of parents of the "silent generation" (whatever that is) were married.

No. My response was "Your parents were married most of the time you were growing up." Percentage who gave the same response as me:

Millenial: 37%

Gen X: 28%

Boomer: 14%

Silent: 11%

Edit: I just tried modifying my answer to "not married" and it gave me a higher millennial score so the scoring might not be broken, just their results graph.

No way. Mommybloggers are white 25-30 year old suburbanites that buy Gweneth Paltrow products and Goop is their bible. Gen X mom is "was too busy" to maintain a blog, but post 500 word essays on facebook bitching about how everyone else is wronging their ill behaved brats.

Uh, use it :dunno: I run a business out of my home and the cell service isn't great here. If you can afford a landline you really should have one. I'd also assume that a grand majority of people with alarm systems on their houses also have landlines.

I got rid of my landline and my security company said it would be an extra charge every month to have it run thru my cell. I made the change anyway. Other than that a landline wasn't necessary for me. I know they have use for businesses.

Full brick house in far side of a furthest suburb.  Cell is mostly non existent in my house.  Land line is a must.  Also, kids are old enough to get calls from friends but I am certainly not going to get my 9 y/o an iphone and I'll be damned if their friends are going to be directed to my cell.

Sorry to disappoint, I have a landline for business purposes, not that I ever use it for personal calls.  I don't know what question triggered the 8, maybe they're weighted.

Phone for kids' friends. iPhone is through work (I have never owned my own cell phone!) so it is nice to have an option that isn't my work phone, although I never get calls on the landline.

There's a decent chance you're getting screwed. How much do you pay per month? SimplySafe is only $15/mo for active monitoring. You have to drop about $300 up front on the equipment, but the monthly savings could cover that in a year.

The sad thing is, they’re pitching tantrums about this all over college campuses and even in the Ivy Leagues — but to suggest that they’re “educated” is a gross overestimation of what their aging hippie professors are actually doing there.
I call these places Marxist Madrassas. They’re little more than indoctrination camps for the next generation of the Long March of the Institutions, and as such, breeding grounds for terrorists. I nearly vomited in my own mouth when a whole bunch of them voted down a planned 9/11 memorial in Minnesota because it might be offensive to the exponentially growing Muslim population there.
Mind you, these weren’t even Muslim students that threw a fit. They were coddled white brats raised by liberal “truther” parents to believe that the U.S. government concocted a planned demolition of the WTC as an excuse to persecute the Muslim population. Saudi Arabia had nothing to do with it and anyone who questions the narrative is a racist bigoted Islamphobe who wears a white hood, doesn’t think black lives matter and is probably voting for Trump.
I’m a millennial and I fit all those categories except the white hood. It’s December and I know better than to wear white after Labor Day. /s

They charge me the same as a venti (large).  I just tell them I have a thermos and that's how they ring it up.  Been doing this for years and this was the first time the kid mentioned he had never seen one before.  Probably because he's wasted his life playing video games.

is this a common thing they do all the time or are you the only one in the world who does it?

Comment/question:  can you order anything you want to go in it?
Response:  I don't know, what is usually say is "hi, good morning, I've got a thermos I want filled with the darkest coffee you have available."  That takes care of the instance where they don't have enough of a specific roast or whatever.

Comment/question:  do you show them the size of the thermos before they decide the charge?
Response:  No, I order through the drive through.  I think every time I've done it they charge me for a venti, which I assume is the largest hot size they can.  Maybe it's not, though.

Comment/question:  if it's on with the order mic before the cashier window, do you ever get to the window after placing the order and they see the thermos size and then change the price?
Response:  No they never change the price.

Comment/question:  how big is your thermos?
Response:  It is marketed as a 32 oz but I have not measured it.

Comment/question:  do you just give them the thermos body, no cap, and they hand it back to you open?
Response:  At first I gave it to them with the cap all loose, but then one girl took off the cap and gave it back to me before she filled it up, so from then on I just give them the thermos body, no cap, and they hand it back open.

Comment/question:  isn't that a liability issue for them?
Response:  It could be, I'm not an attorney.

Comment/question:  also, is your thermos opening/smell gross?
Response:  I don't think so, and I've never had any complaints, but you know how some dog people can't tell their house smells like dog?   :sdeek:

This thread took a delightful turn. I still need to know what construction site emo is currently working at though. Also the thought of him driving some work pickup truck through the starbucks drive thru with that thermos from 1979 asking for it to be filled with black coffee is just soooooo  to me. One day he's going to catch some kid having a shitty day and they are going to ask him if he meant to go to McDonalds or some shitty Conoco or Diamond Shamrock and got lost. I mean I think those things would even be out of place at a QT.

Got to be the stupidist naive morons ever.  Maybe there is global warming and it's messing up sperms.  I just got back from the coffee shop on this good holiday of peace madder than hell.  Trying to convince a college kid $15 an hour minimum wage ain't good is a losing cause.  His response was any business can afford to pay this wage plus health care insurance.  I tried.  He left in his new looking f250 and drove away.  I climbed in ol Betzy and headed home cussing.

I had a chat with me mum about a 12 dollar and hour minimum wage. She said that when she started her career as an RN she was making 12 something an hour in 1996. I guessed that minimum wage was around 5.5 dollars an hour. I said mom you now make well north of 35 dollars and hour and minimum wage is around 7.25 and hour. How does that jive?  Mom saw my point and conceeded her point.

On it's own a 12 dollar an hour minimum wage seems ridiculous. But when you contrast it to the increase in wages across the board in the past 20 years, I have to say I support it.

Yeah but she has 19 years more experience now. Comparing a new RN's pay vs minimum wage and comparing a 20 year RN's pay vs minimum wage is not the same comparison.

He made it by pouring seafood broth over Rice Krispies. A cocktail made from Fruity Pebbles is a hit at Bedrock Fizz, a New York restaurant. Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese, has been known to pair Frosted Flakes with matcha milk. He also makes a dish out of Corn Pops and a bacon-infused soymilk.

Sort of like a 'do as I say not as I do' type of thing?  If it was that easy then all the democrats need to do is heed their own advice, stop their own hypocrisy and instead of trying to divide the nation, get behind the president who is trying to unite it and who has the best chance since Reagan to do so.

Good thinking any thoughts on how to show the democratic party their sanctimonious ways?

I am sure that it doesn't have any effect on you.  You seem like a very good and thoughtful soul.  Do you sleep under a sheet, or raise old glory to world.  I suppose sleeping or not sleeping naked has no standard anymore.  Kind of like nude beaches, boob picture hucksters in Times Square, or President Porno fighting off Whorey Daniels.  I shouldn't generalize.  KSU millennial are the cream and not like the coastal versions.  Hell, I may even give it a whirl.  Likely no sleep for RenoSweets.  Question what do you do if your dog likes hotdogs?

This information from Zillow says about 1/4th of millennials live with MA and pa.  Cost of housing in metros big reason.  I think there are others...like?  Dopeheads, video loafers.  No wonder this bunch likes Democrats and Giveaway Bernie.
