we need some clarification here. say there is a press release at 8am saying there is a press conference at 11am to announce his retirement... which time wins?

I am not certain everyone here knows exactly how far Bill is willing to go to secure his team's motivation for a KU game.Assuming ISU is a W there is also value in rallying to get Bill bowl eligible one last time

Dunno when but DSF is getting the scoop but his boss will steal it from him, Bill loves DSF. Also Currie will find out when we do.

Guys, as some of you know I am embedded pretty deep so I will have to not participate in this game.
But I will say we may already have a winner.

Would take either, frankly, but HC Venzy and DC Leavitt would be nocturnal emission inducing.
I'm not sure Venzy goes anywhere for another year. He has a son who is a stud linebacker, but a sophomore with only two offers, Clem and Texas Tech. Class of 2018. I can see him wanting to let him have a good Jr year and let the offers roll in. Changing schools to outside SEC recruiting grounds could impact offers. Would love to see us offer him.

This site isn't going to last 5 more years, could only imagine how much time it'd have left if all the Leavitt lovers* lost their typin' hands.
Is anyone actually one of these? FWIW, I'm not, BTW.. straight PRO-VENZY, FYI.
I want to take everyone who wants Jim Leavitt to be our football coach and light their hands on fire so they can never type again.

The same crowd that love Weber would eat this up. A very Currie hire
There are some (you ever read other sites) are Weberites
Currie would take a guy with HC on his resume ahead of a guy like Venables
Calhoun is all FCA guy and rigid rules and regulations follower, very Currie like

At this point, nothing would be more perfect than hiring Venzy as HCIW/ defensive coordinator and letting Snyder have a 1-year farewell tour. I'm fine with Snyder having another year, but I'm not sure Tom Hayes is even doing any coaching.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with catastrophe. Venzy as HCIW would be a cream dream. Farewell tour would be fine with me, I guess, as long as Venzy had a bunch of say in who comes there after we do a complete enema of our coaching staff after this season.
What is the point of a fairwell tour?

Eh, if we can win two more this year, it becomes eight next year, which is doable with a bowl game.

I want to punch out every person who mentions a 'farewell tour' and '200 wins.' Shut up.
Venables would never come here as a HCIW.
HCIW scenario might be a little dicey given that Bill wants Sean to succeed him.

what if ISU hilariously collapsing all over themselves made bill say, "HA! I still got it!"at this point i think he just lets each coach draw straws to take a turn for a quarter at the helm. obviously andre has been drawing the 4th qt straw the last few weeks.
Snyder believes that as long as he’s making an impact in the lives of his players and staff, and the team is responding to his leadership, he wants to continue coaching.
To be fair, this year was always going to be a rebuilding year, we've suffered massive injuries, and, despite this, were close to nabbing a few big time wins. And we still may go to a bowl game. Two of the losses were very ugly (OU/TT), but at this point, I don't think we've lost a game where I've felt like we really should have won it. Maybe Texas?QuoteSnyder believes that as long as he’s making an impact in the lives of his players and staff, and the team is responding to his leadership, he wants to continue coaching.
As long as he is making mediocrity out of staff and players no one else would have on their team, bill is staying. eff
Bye, Venzy.I am telling myself that Brent told Bill "I learned from '98 and will not take a job during a title run, I will come home next year" and then added "Please recruit at least a couple JC WRs and DBs, maybe a LB or two as well"

I think Snyder staying (assuming he does), especially given this year's ridiculous carousel, is absolutely a good thing.

This is where I'm at. As disappointing as several games this year have been (OSU, TCU, Texas, even Tech) and with the reaction I had toward half vs ISU (this is Snyder's 2nd worst team), I don't think Snyder is burying this program. This is a slightly worse than normal Snyder rebuilding year and honestly some of that is simply due to how the schedule lays out. Next year should be a pretty good season, even if we finish 5-7 and don't go bowling this year.

Yeah, that's a tough road schedule, but we'll have an extremely winnable home schedule.Which is pretty ideal actually when you have a team that's not really really good.

Are we dismissing the possibility of Bill retiring because Currie asks him for staff changes? It seems that Currie is becoming more and more comfortable telling Bill what to do, Vanier and the Stanford game are pretty significant things that didn't go Bill's way.

Yeah, that's a tough road schedule, but we'll have an extremely winnable home schedule. I won't be good with 4-8 at all, no matter who is the coach, when did I say that?

delton and this juco wr better be the real deal or we could go 3-9what about the defense? we're still going to be shitty.

This would be pretty interesting and may be the best case scenario for now. Especially if Currie has veto power over replacement staff.
Wacky just wants to tie this back to Jake being so great, in some way. Sad.You really need to move on, bud. Everyone else has.
I guess Barnett could come back but most indications are McDaniel is gone so this year might just be a sneak preview. i love adams as well. as to wacky, the offense has been fine but if deltons not the guy next year 3-9 is most likely. hell hubes should move to te/wr imhoI guess Barnett could come back but most indications are McDaniel is gone so this year might just be a sneak preview. I'd be fine with that as well. Hubs has a special place in my tuckish heart. He's a 5* heart type of player and he's doing what he can, but he's limited and that's not his fault. I cringe everytime he's getting rushed and has to move latteral out of the pocket. :frown:Fedor Jr. and I were laughing at how he always takes the hardest hit possible when he runs because he has no wiggle whatsoever. There is a noticeable body shiver when he gets tackled.

I have it on very credible authority that Dante will be back next season. Who does that unless there is concern?
Hubes should focus on going pro in something other than sports
Every time Hubes runs, I yell as loud as possible, "At K-Sate we got quarter backs, who needs running backs!". :lol:I'd be fine with that as well. Hubs has a special place in my tuckish heart. He is going to make an awesome Middle School asst. principal in Andover

That wasn't really complex prose. I'm sure he can scribble that in two minutes or less, while he's eating an orange, and hand it to some admin to mail off.
It's decent marketing for us, and it takes little to no effort on his part. What else should he be doing in that two minutes?

Yep, it's just like when Tony Romo or some other QB gets a new girlfriend and then the team loses a few games. Obviously the lady isn't responsible for the losses, but also obviously she's got to go.

it takes bill like 3 plays to figure out what down it was 3 plays ago. it's taking him more time to put these things together than you think. but, I don't know what he could be doing of value other than that so write away bill.

He's at Vanier for 20 hours a day. I mean we know he uses a stair stepper and watches Fox News, but other than that, I'm guessing a considerable portion of his day is stupid administrative stuff that's really no more than ambassadorial at this point. There's no way you can fill 20 hours a day with football.

I mean we know he uses a stair stepper and watches Fox News, but other than that, I'm guessing a considerable portion of his day is stupid administrative stuff that's really no more than ambassadorial at this point. There's no way you can fill 20 hours a day with football.
well, for starters he isn't at Vanier 20 hours a day. Secondly, he needs a better recruiter .

yeah, he's actually not. he's really not there much at all (relatively). really funny story about that though.
How many letters does he write? Does only the QB get a letter? That doesn't seem fair at all. He needs to either write to every player or none.

Wanted to last year, but Bill said no. Bill couldn't hire who he wanted to by the time Hays brought it up. This whole, "I'll make a decision after the season" line is bullshit. If you wait till after the season to decide, you're basically telling Bill the next season will be your last.
if currie and bill can agree on a coach....lolJust as long it isn't the Fatman.

Are we now going to lose 7 out of our last 8 bowl games? Did I see that stat right? :sdeek:
Eventually fans will stop going to bowl gamesI did. I went to several, but the luster is off. It's an expensive trip each year to leave with a terrible taste. So I now rarely even entertain the idea of going. Sad, because it used to be a lot of fun.
Looks like he is going to have to stick around 2 more years to get his 200 wins :frown:

6-6, win a bowl game, retire after with exactly 200!
Coach came back to "calm the waters" and has done a damned good job of it. However, the waters aren't as calm as they were before this season started. There are a lot of things in need of repair and I don't think retaining the entirety of this staff will facilitate that.

Snyder 2.0 is also about coming painfully close to a Natty.

He used to care about bowl games. He also used to care about recruiting.
So it's no mystery why that in Snyder 2.0 we suck incredible balls at both.
Snyder 2.0 is about the 16 goals and writing diagonal letters and Kansas 5 hearts and that's more than good enough for a lot of Cat fans.
Let's all be honest with ourselves, we were never really that close to playing for/winning a national championship.
Just came by to see if this thread title has happened yet. :'bye cruel world:
I would take 2011-2014 as a 4 year stretch at any time. Snyder has defecincies in recruiting, and its showing but the "he doesn't care about bowl games" talking point is stupid though. Arkansas, UCLA, Oregon, and Arkansas were better than the Cat teams they were playing. BFD.
Bowl schedule makers don't do us favors.
Its on them (bowl schedule makers)
To be fair, we have been losers of the last 6 out of 7 bowl games.
I mean, we suck in the games where we aren't completely overmatched athletically as well (Syracuse).

Curries office is one floor above Bill's.Below
That's kind of fun to think about.
Bill's master plan (aka Operation Sean: Code Name LHC Bill Snyder Family Trust) is going to be the victim of a very sad catch 22.
The longer Bill waits out Currie (who'd rather bathe in a pool of ticks than hand the keys to Sean), the more Sean gets exposed as being an average football mind with a legendary Dad.
It's like something out of a novel. I bet Tait marries one of Hayden Fry's great grandchildren and claws his way up through the ashes to lead Iowa to a National Championship someday.

I guess I have to ask. Is coach just oblivious to this? I know that our perception is we can do less with more. But HCBS isn't the young man he used to be. And by all accounts, he's simply not putting in the man hours actively preparing for games that he used to probably because he cannot. He has to realize that something has to be done. He's been down this trail before when the wheels started coming off.
Have you driven by Vanier? His vehicle is always there.
Catman63, Monday at 3:55 PM
My grandma is way too old to drive. She refuses to give the car up and often would try to take the car out and about. My dad rented a carport down the road from her house and parks it there with the battery disconnected. So, now when my dad takes her somewhere, she sees her car, knows she still has it, and no arguments are made. She just can't use it. Pride, I guess.
This is probably what they are doing with bills car and the fans are confused because of the chosen parking location.

Can we talk about the fact that one guy has said Sean "should have the job." No one, including Sean, has said he wants the job, but multiple sources has said he doesn't want the job. I guess what I'm getting at is that it seems Sean getting the job is as likely as catastrophe getting the job.

golly gee willikers guys, gopowercat is worried that it would be wrong for BV to come before signing day because it isn't fair to Dabo's recruiting!
Many years of being a K-State fan has honed my inner EMAW, and my inner EMAW is screaming that BV back home absolutely must happen otherwise a fog of malaise is going to set in and get harder and harder to remove.
A transition plan must be put in place now IN MY OPINION and that cannot be Sean. If the reports are true that Sean doesn't really want the job, then Sean Snyder should never, ever be considered for the job . . . ever (as if that really needed to be said). This is of course if we want to see LHCBS leave in a good way.
I feel right now the same way I felt when Lon Kruger left and despite my Tuck Level degree of optimism at the time, inside my inner EMAW said it was going to be a long road of malaise and shitty basketball (only to have some real KITN moment during that process upon finding out Eddie Sutton begged for the job after Kruger left, and that Tubby Smith backed out after verbally accepting when Altman left).
All of the work to build overall Top 25 Football Facilities will be for not if something substantial doesn't happen very, very soon IMO.
Love when dax goes all phog.net about coaches we missed out on
I fully expect nothing to happen this year and we'll end up with a ho hum coach in a year or two.
Guys, what if our excitement for BV is so high, that when Snyder retires, we hire, like a oscar Weber clone for football? Not sure why anyone would expect anything other than a situation like you described. Only thing you can hope for is that Currie wants an sec job and a home run football hire would look good on the resume.
Would that be the ultimate KITN? :buh-bye:

currie should just promote bill into a non-coaching role. give him a small bump in salary and a really long title and a new office in vanier somewhere. he should do this during a hurriedly scheduled press conference with no advance notice given to bill. He's already got this in his contract. Quarter million per year as long as he wants to be there.

2016: Snyder Head Coach, BV HCIW and DC (Hayes gone).
2017: BV Head Coach, Snyder Offensive Coordinator--Schemer, Dimel (or somebody) Offensive Coordinator--Playcaller.
Snyder can still gameplan/scheme with the best of them. He is perhaps not the best at making quick decisions. So, Snyder stays on to do nothing but gameplan/scheme on the offensive side. Somebody else can call/pick the plays that Snyder has produced (with Snyder up in the box analyzing during the game, of course).
We will hire the next Andy Ludwig, he will quit two weeks before spring practice, then we will hire the manager of Kites. but :frown:

Leavitt's not going to make a lateral move to KSU for 1 year then be looking again.
Jim Leavitt gets me excited about CU football at a time when nothing else really does. I love reading these tweets from him and the tweets from recruits he's spending time with.
I'm gonna suggest him to my girlfriend for her cheat list. I wont even make her move anybody off. I'd totally be okay with that.

The Snyder well seems to be going dry. We just ain't recruitin or getting big time players to compete. We don't strike fear in anyone no more.
good luck to bill when he tries to make a case for sean after what's going to be multiple 3-9 seasons
He should have hung it it up after 2012. He held on too long, and now we'll be lucky to get a 65? year old Jim Leavitt.
Bill's not going 3-9
I thought the A&M win at the Advocare Bowl in 2016 was his last game.
Exactly why does he get a free pass to stay for as many 3-9 seasons as he wants?
Why on Earth would that be where you finally draw the line?
--Lost revenge game to Auburn
--Threw up a dud at Stanford
--Lost to Vanderbilt and mustered 7 whole points
--Got crap pushed in at home by Mississippi State
thank god we get KU at home. it will take the most record levels of iowa stateyness for us to win in ames.
8 carries, 159 for sip state. Fire every coach responsible for recruiting this sorry ass front 7. Then, get new players...embarrassment to us all!
Just completely outmatched and our offense is garbage
Just sad man!!!
This is who KSU recruited to play against these teams...sooooo 209 yards now and I'm pretty sure he truck-sticked the entire defense at least once.
Take your names off the damn jerseys and remove the powercats from ya damn helmets and go to the damn FCS where you all belong. Coaches and players...somebody's got to keep it real around here...
400 yards rushing allowed at home. But remember, 5 more years for a 78 year old that wont change
Can anybody tell me why the D line never rotated?
KSU has never rotated the D-Line. They have really only ever used 3 interior lineman and 3-4 ends. They have never rotated fresh players in to constantly keep pressure up. They just overwork the few kids they let play.

@Cat from DC
He hasn't had any 3-9 seasons. He's just very mediocre and will probably be within a game or two of 7-5 every season as long as he coaches. Which is fine, really.

Serious question::
Is anyone else concerned that alot of our coordinators are former Snyder players?
Here's my point: What progressive, innovative ideas has Seiler, Coleman, Klein, brought from other programs? Oh, they haven't been anywhere else. They are Snyder boys. So, they run what they and Snyder know. Which is boring, awful, bend dont break stuff.
I did not see the game Saturday, but since we were down the whole game, did we ever, ever run a GD 2 minute drill? Or did we run the play clock down every fricking play?
I watch these other teams become innovative, run hurry up, mix up blizes on D. Yet we never do. See our hurry up offense crapfest last year, was it against Vandy or UT, I can't remember. It's like we never ever practiced it.
That, my friends is all coaching. and recruiting falls on coaching. So, its time boys. It's time.

anyone who thinks the ceiling is 4 wins is a giant dumbass (renocat)Man I hope at the end of the season my family makes me wear a shirt that says purple dumb-ass resides here. I think if we do some mean ass stomping on UTSA, we may get some swagger that propels us to a few more wins. However, a tough game with UTSA and then a possible trouncing by WVU could lead to a demoralized team, and a downward spiral. :Time Trial West: :No pity:

To KSU football: No more posts about the abilities of these players. They can’t help the situation they’ve been put in. They literally have the most inexperienced coaching staff in the BCS. And I say that knowing that several of our brothers from the program are on the staff. They have the least talented teammates in the BCS. They didn’t choose their teammates. The question I have is how much do we care about what was built? Are we COMMITTED (1)to OUR football programs future? It feels like the current administration is being extremely SELFISH (2). We have to stand UNITED (3) to IMPROVE(4) our programs chances in the future...it’s about the program NOT the person/people. The ENTHUSIASM (8) is non existent. It’s like we’ve GIVEN UP (10)as a University and are beginning to ACCEPT LOSING (11) as long as it was at the hands of a Snyder. We’ve set a LIMITATION (12)...we will only be as good as one man coaches. Is it our RESPONSIBILITY (16) to replace people if their not winning or their responsibility to win because we’ve chosen them? I don’t know, but I do know I don’t want what we’ve done to be forgotten, left behind, & relegated to 30 minutes of ESPN classic footage. I do know it’s not right for an administration to threaten tickets to former players in exchange for their silence. And after all I’ve read today and this mess past few years, you all want better. You all want a future for this program. Let’s get back to EXPECTING TO WIN. (13)[/b]
Nah. TP is great on FB after losses. He very clearly still cares a lot about the qats program.
