I haven't looked at a PETA news site for a while. They gave a memorial award posthumously to some gal from St. Louis for Critter Compassion who was run over by a Metrolink train in April trying to save a possom. Last night I hit a possum and it blew up like a dynamited watermelon. This morning buzzards were picking on the hamburger.

Kid or gorilla? People are.actually going on line and chastising zoo officials when that little 4'year old kid fell into the gorilla pen. The gorilla was dragging the kid around like a doll. PETALers are pissed because they killed an endangered critter. You have plenty of kids, but few gorillas. Sheesh.

Dragging the kid easily could have killed him, whether or not the gorilla was trying to protect him. At the point the gorilla and kid were together, killing the gorilla was the correct choice to insure the boy's safety.

People are lambasting the parents and then other people are blindly defending the parents. I would wager that quite a few shitty parents take their kids there every day. The exhibit has been open a long time and this has never happened before, despite this constant flow of shitty parents and bad kids. That tells me all I need to know.

I may have some direct knowledge of a caged wild animal that wasn't trying to hurt a 3-4 year old but drug the boy through a pen and the boy hit his head on a pole and died.

I think it's safe to say that the zoo, parents, and child all did some things wrong along the way, but shooting the gorilla at that point in time was the correct course of action (I'm not sure even PETA disagrees with that).

Apparently critters protectors on England are throwing a hissing fit because tallow is used to make UK's new plastic bills. PETAers get real. I imagine there are lots of processed critters in lots of things.

I have a kind of funny PETA story. Here in Hutchinson we have prairie dog towns. Lowe's was going to build a store where a pretty good sized prairie dog town was and PETA insisted we relocate the prairie dogs. So they got a Vactor truck like what they use to clean out storm drains etc... The first few times they used it some of the prairie dogs were getting killed because of the force of the suction slammed them into the back of truck cargo area. So they had to modify the trucks and pad the inside of the truck to protect the prairie dogs. Once the truck was full they were transported to Quivera Wildlife Refuge. This is the best part, with in 3 weeks all the prairie dogs were wiped out by badgers and Coyotes.

At 3 am I staggered into the bathroom, and there was brown reclusive spider taking a late night swim and drink at the old water hole. I am sorry. I did not get a stick and fish out this critter, put it in a padded spider crate, take it out in the yard, and let it lose into the wilds. Noooooo, i did horrible things to it. Sick. Demented. Then when it was still fighting for its life, I flushed to send it to its death in the bowels of my septic tank. I hope there aren't ghost spiders. Critter killing is a cruel messy business. I could not bring myself to blast a rat with a shotgun, or any critter. Traps or poison allows me to disassociate from the act. Rats. Spiders. Snakes. According to Yahoo News, SeaWorld split apart long-time companions Szenia and someone who makes me uncomfortable in order for the latter polar bear to breed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, earlier this year.
