Let me begin by noting that this is not a new idea, others have observed this as well:
I got a 12 page flyer for season tickets in the mail. It has the word "losses" in it twice, including on the cover. It does not have the words "coach" "oscar" or "weber" anywhere.
This exacerbates my conspiracy theory of Currie trying to make this Weber's last year.
I am beginning to believe that Currie wants oscar gone.
Currie renegotiated his contract to avoid being tied to team performance...this is the act of a man who knows we will be bad. Why would he do that? WHAT IF Currie wanted Weber out NOW, but was pressured (the Animal???) to keep Weber in place? What would he do in that case....would he demand to have team performance removed from conditions for his compensation? Hmmmmmm.
The parties were different, but we have seen this in the KSU basketball program before. Tim Weiser tried to fire Wooly, and President Wefald vetoed it, and gave Wooly one additional year. Could we be seeing that again?
Currie is not stupid. He must know that Weber is failing. He is VERY self interested. If you are both smart and self interested, would you keep oscar Weber if you were the AD?
-
yeah, I can get behind the idea that john currie's not a huge dumbass. DO IT JOHN!

I hope John doesn't play a long game.

Also, didn't we figure out that Currie was the one who had Foster and Harris drug tested immediately after their spring break trip?
-
He's seen how well Brad has done... probably already talking to Brad. ISU probably called Brad and offered him the job and Brad turned it down knowing that he was going to be taking over K-State next year. Just as long as Brad and Curries deal doesn't get FIFA'd then we will be golden!

I want nothing more than to think that our AD is some diabolical evil genius $!#* out to manipulate the world as needed to harm others and make EMAW succeed, however, I feel like this thread needs to stay a little realistic.

Thanks Pete for getting my hopes up, then realizing this thread is full of :flush: :flush: :flush:

When Currie sends Mr. Scrot Whacker to trim the guts out oscar On The Loose recruiting budget, I will believe it.

I want to believe this and it may very well be true, but I also have a friend that has very close ties and involved in the AD and says that this is becoming the norm. AD's incentives are being more tied to fan attendance rather than team success with the idea that if coaches/teams win, people will show up and if they lose they won't. Now if the teams win AND no one shows up (i.e. the AD not making money) then they still don't get the incentives.

The Underwood stuff has to come out of these theories.
-
Just watch Currie stick it to oscar with scheduling.

And getting ISU to interview Brad for cover was a Currie masterstroke. JC's influence knows no bounds.
-
It's going to be hard to get hired for that next job if your only major sport hire ultimately drives the program into the ground.
-
Even tucks would have a hard time complaining with bringing in a K-Stater like Brad.

Pete fell off the wagon. :frown: :frown:

I have confidence in John currie

oh man, i mean what if?

Currie is the guy at your poker table who has no tells. You can't read him. I say he's going to let oscar destroy himself.

jcurrie, you don't have to hide your secret. you are among friends.

oscar is blissfully unaware that there is a sword dangling over his head. The sword of Damacurriecles

oscar most likely already destroyed himself. Kind of a waiting game right now.

yeah, I can get behind the idea that john currie's not a huge dumbass. DO IT JOHN!
GPC says 18 wins is the oscar Weber job saving number.
-
Shocked the number is so high. I mean, we lost most of our production. How is that number not like 12 or so?
-

oscar said 3 of our recruits are "scorers", so basically we better hope the new video board goes to 3 digits on the home score side.

If that's the case then he's rough ridin' toast. It's totally not the case though.

I am afraid the number is anywhere in double digits if oscar continues to bend Bill over the scorer's table in the Bram

He probably means in a Tinder way and they will be off the team by April

If Underwood wins a third straight conference title at SFA and goes to another NCAA tournament, it's definitely 18.

meh, im not sure Underwood would be that great at the high major level.
-
One little teeny factoid nobody has mentioned is running oscar would require Currie admit he made a mistake in hiring Weber. Currie don't do that too good.

Shot in the dark, Underwood hates/resents currie from the frank days. He loves k-state but will never work under Currie

That is certainly a unique and fresh perspective
-
I'm out of the loop here on the east coast, but I'm struggling to recall any credible evidence to suggest that a) Brad would come to Manhattan and b) Currie would admit the Weber mistake. Tell me I'm wrong!
-
Maybe next year!
-
Shocked the number is so high. I mean, we lost most of our production. How is that number not like 12 or so?
What is the difference between 18 and 12. A couple of games that mean jack crap, a theoretical number of wins is kind of stupid in the first place tho.
-
yeah. a big 12 teams starts with like 10 wins just on scheduling. 18 wins means you won about 25% of games that matter. it's a bad year (and a fairly easily attainable mark for a bad big 12 team).
-
The schedule wins are easily forgettable to a fan base that doesn't want to see what is in front of them. They mindlessly merge into a final record that makes the W-L stat look good. A sub .500 record at the end of the year makes that much more difficult.
-
The number of games oscar needs to win next year to come back next year is 1.

I've talked to a solid handfull of people (tucks and non tucks) and all have agreed that Brad would be a great K-State coach and that oscar is in the hot seat if he cannot produce something semi-respectable this season. I knew things were bad when I got the tucks I know to say bad things about oscar. Typically they just say that it's the players fault and they were not a good fit for K-State and they are glad the cancer (the players that left) are gone.
-
Shot in the dark, Underwood hates/resents currie from the frank days. He loves k-state but will never work under Currie
I don't buy this. I just don't see Brad turning down a job that's significantly better than his current one, that's at his alma mater, and one where he will make at least 4 times as much money as he is making now.
Also, he is still very EMAW.

I think your underestimating how toxic Frank's last year was.
He will have a bunch of good job offers and they will all pay way more. And K-state will always be his alma mater, even after Currie is gone.
-
he would come here next year if we paid him anything close to what others offer. i believe that and am sticking to it.
-
if he wants currie's head on a pike, all he has to do is ask.
-
Lol at all the people that think oscar's job is in jeopardy related to the amount of wins next season.

Yea, this is probably true. He could win 12 total games and still be back more than likely.

Does Brad have the same   for K-State that Huggins had for the Mountaineers?

Hugs turned WVU down in 2002, part of the decision is who is asking you to come home

Rumblings are that Currie is jetting to go east the minute a "high profile job" opens. Apparently he's been quoted as saying that he belongs in the SEC. So hopefully if he leaves he can take Brucey with him...
-
oscar is as un-SEC as a coach can get, imo.

Was oscar turned down by Charleston? Perhaps an indicator that he isn't quite enough of a bubba.

My understanding was that was all but signed up to coach them at $800k/yr and we swooped in an grabbed him at the bargain basement price of just shy of $2m/yr.

Lots of kids want to be astronauts when they grow up.
-
I cannot imagine how much happier pretty much everyone involved would be if oscar signed his Charleston contract early.
-
Did I hear Stanbot on 810 infer that if oscar is a big fail next year (<12 wins?), his job would be in jeopardy.
Also, did any animosity that Currie had towards Frank related to Underwood?
-
Didn't hear Stanbot today, but man, less than 12 wins, I'd hope that would put him in jeopardy although I bet he gets one more season even with that type of terrible-ness.
Sad.

 But he still needs to leave.
