:ohno:
Rumblings that Thibs will be traded to New Orleans and Chicago will hire Fred.
-
Wow. Congratulations to Fred.
-
sorry for your loss, pizza ranch
-
I break for all the people who will be let down :frown: But... We need to do this for us.
-
HHH is a top 3 sock on this blog.
-
transfer epidemic about to hit Mold Ag
-
I break for all the people who will be let down :frown: But... We need to do this for us.
No matter where you go you're still going to be horrible
-
do you guys miss downtown fred brown? i do
-
Aggieville Fred is the best Fred.
-
With the loss of Fred, Iowa State needs oscar Weber.
-
This basketball hire could be super horrible, guys. Like really bad. I am pretty excited for this coaching search.
-
With the loss of Fred, Iowa State needs oscar Weber.
I know its a running joke, but oscar would likely have that roster competiting for a S16 at a mimimum.

Then a significant part of the mold's fanbase will buy into the thinking that oscar Weber might actually be a better coach than Fred Holberg was...then their entire world will crumble around them a couple years later when reality rear's its ugly head.
-
About time for someone to photoshop Doc Sadler crouched down next to a John Deere tractor in knee high water
-
That could be pretty great
-

They'll get somebody with more upside than oscar Weber.

That doesn't narrow the field much.

oscar at isu, right now, even has more upside than oscar at ksu, right now.

Underwood to ISU

Underwood to ISU
Wouldn't be surprising. They probably are going to try to get a good coach.
-
Underwood to ISU
Never.

:ohno:
Rumblings that Thibs will be traded to New Orleans and Chicago will hire Fred.
What would NO send back? They're not losing Davis. Gordon to give rose some scoring help?
-
Not sure Fred can resist the Bulls job.
-
With D. Rose seemingly not broken that job becomes more appealing. I'm curious to hear what Chicago players say about Thibs, if anything, after he is gone.
Two months ago I never thought Hoi would make the jump.
-
Underwood to ISU
Never.
No

Usually when coaches are traded it's for future draft picks and/or cash. That was the case for Kidd and Rivers anyhow.
-
Hoi is vastly overrated, its a good move for ISU
-
NO is in a great position right now. Anthony Davis will win MVP in the next 5 years. Not sure why Chicago would want to trade him though. He got them to a 3 seed even without their best player playing for most the season.

Apparently the front office and him are on bad terms.

This. Thibs and the GM do not get along.
-
if hoi leaves and we fire weber, would isu hire weber? i mean probably.
-
The idea of oscar coaching Georges Niang is scary.
-
you guys would want a coach that could win right away. how does a shared confy champy sound? :Chirp:

he coached up JO. Three words for you, pick and pop.
-
you guys would want a coach that could win right away. how does a shared confy champy sound? :Chirp:
So a one-year interim coach-type situation with no possible chance of an extension? I may be willing to help you guys out.

Wait until ISU hires oscar, then we will talk
-
Guy I know supposedly has mutual friends with Niang and people close to program - told me that Niang and assistant coaches all say Hoi to Bulls is a done deal. (Source C+)
-
Pretty good friends with a guy that owns a mold abatement and remediation company in Ames. Dude is absolutely loaded. Anyway, he's telling me Hoi has a Pod in front of his house and his wife is already planning shopping trips on Michigan Avenue with the ladies in town.
-
Pretty smart of Fred to get out of Ames before mold season
-
How happy is he knowing he gets to breath clean Chicago air as the temperature rises this year? Pretty pumped, I bet. No mask this summer!

Too late to leave unscathed. Here is a real life exchange I had with my iowa insider from yesterday.

Underwood to ISU
Never.
You're right. He'd never take a stable power conference job.
-
So Fred is going to be gone and Iowa State hoops goes into the trash like KSU but with no conf champy? Do I have that right?

I'm not entirely sure that's accurate...
Oh my, I don't know what got into me. Didn't mean to go off on you like that.

ISU fans would have been perfectly fine with a year like KSU just had with oscar running things. Just look at their attitude toward Paul Rhoads.

They should be all over Brad Underwood's nuts for this hire if they have an ounce of sense. I could live with them hiring Doc Sadler though.
-
Imagine if you made the perfect hire. Now, imagine if you had to hire someone else a few years later... :(
-
Smart move is Doc, his teams are so tough!
-
Either oscar or Doc to ISU is their best move
-
oscar and Doc to ISU is their best move
Gonna win 'em all!
-
goEMAW always ahead of the game. Hope hoiberg has a good time in chicago.
-
Now will ISU become transfer city like oscar made mhk. Time will only tell.
-
I think it's time to warm up the oscar to ISU rumor mill.
-
Gets him closer to those Chicago kids he always recruits.
Gonna win 'em all!
-
Its a shame fred can leave without penalty but these kids he lied to, to come play in iowa arent free to leave without penalty
-

He's a monster
-
I am just amazed that Chicago chose Fred over self, given that they both were pleading for the job.
I guess that settles the argument about who is the better coach, and it certainly explains why Bill has stayed so long. I wonder how many NBA teams have mushed him?
-
I think it's time to warm up the oscar to ISU rumor mill.
I think it's time to make oscar to ISU a fact.

its a done deal. sucks because now I have to pick a new big 12 team to root for in bball.
-
The Bulls.
-
Glad I started being a Bulls fan way back in 2014.
-
Well, Fred's officially the Bulls Coach as of later today.
I saw some speculation that they would promote assistant TJ Otzelberger, or go steal Jeff Hornacek, but Hornacek is already making $2M in Phoenix.
I think that the most important take away from all of this is that ISU likes guys with stupid sounding last names.

Good luck killing your own pet dog. You would have to have some sort of mental disorder to pull that off.
-
not if my dog hired weber and let underwood go to isu, i wouldn't.
-
the only solace to brad going to ISU would be us getting Hoiberg when he gets canned from the Bulls in two years
-
Watching Brad be all cool while kicking our asses as oscar sniffs his hand and does the lizard tongue thing may be what finally leads me to being disassociated dax style.

That scenario would lead us to take Burn it Down to a new level. I do not possess the words to describe the depth of the anguish.

Not offering brad the job would be a fireable offense for their AD IMO. I for one would be happy for him.

Brad announced last week that his son is walking on at SFA this coming season.

No scholly means he can walk on at isu next season instead.

I'm still going to blame John Beilein for EVERYTHING that has happened to our BB program since 2006. Sunofabitch started all of this.
-
I mean, how amazing is this Brad Underwood stuff? Pretty amazing.
Like even more amazing than the fact that oscar Weber is still gainfully employed at a P5 university.
I'm amazed every day.
-
The ISU AD seems to be simply awful at hiring football coaches but a total stud at hiring basketball coaches

R.I.P. KSU B-Ball.
If Brad goes to ISU he will no longer be an option.

Just a screw in a coffin that is already nailed.

According to tuck nation, this is the best possible outcome. Let Brad go to ISU as a training ground and once he finally proves himself he can then come to K-State to coach our basketball program again.

-
Brad comes across as a loyal guy. If he has success at ISU he will never leave.
-
If he has success and we don't why would he take a step backward in what he probably already thinks of as a delayed career? I think Brad is waaay smarter than that.

vague statements about interviewing the best possible candidates at Otzelberger's presser are just days away

Marshall really hasn't got any really good offers. This could be his best actionable offer to date.

Marshall isn't going to ISU

yeah, I mean, who did he turn down? Alabama? Iowa State would be about as good as a non-blue blood job as Marashall could see

Bingo. Fred was their Huggs. Once in a lifetime thing.

It's gonna be that dork assistant. I mean, this is Iowa State.
Maybe, maybe not. Otzelberger only came on board two months ago. The university prez wants a big, splashy hire. Gregg would be that, but I don't see it happening. Hornacek took his name out of consideration. Still think Brad has a shot. More wins than any coach in history after two years at a NCAA school. :dunno:

Otzelberger was brought on staff in 2006 with McDermott and was retained by Fred. He is responsible for Craig Brackins and Wesley Johnson coming to Iowa State; two guys who could have led that team to great successes with any other coach but Mac. He recruited Monte, Naz and Matt Thomas on this current roster, and has quite a few ties in Chicago, Milwaukee and Minneapolis. He's a recruiter, so getting him isn't a whole lot different than Wayne Morgan in my opinion. Did you guys follow basketball enough 03-06 to know who Wayne Morgan was? He brought in Stinson and Blalock, but literally wouldn't coach as HC. It was streetball.
Oh, that @CycloneInsiders account is a 17 year old kid from West Des Moines- Valley High School. Marshall isn't coming to Ames.

Wabash is right, this is the losery asst coach'so job

CBS Sports is reporting that it is Steve Prohm of Murray State. Plays an up-tempo style offense, which Cyclone fans love, but I'm quite concerned about his ability to relate to the P5 level, and to recruit.

Good hire. Was one of my (non-Brad) faves when daydreaming about replacing oscar.

He reminds me a LOT of Tom Crean. Both had great success with a star player that was overlooked by other schools, and used that to move on to the next job.

Pud hire. The talent will allow him to win this year.
But recruiting is what brought them back. This guy is not a recruiter.
