Already getting hopes up!!!
-
The questions that could be asked!!!! :Wha:
-
But sadly won't be
-
sounds like a great late lunch for our own gEdeBruce
-
Will be a 'wrap-up/look ahead' thing with pre-decided questions
-
Epidemic will be said at least twice
-
yep, lobbing softballs. oh god I bet deBruce would be awful at softball.
-
Cotton Fitzpatrick and Ernie Barnett will be mentioned
-
Tons of busses will be driven over college kids
-
D Scott is preparing hard hitting questions AS WE SPEAK!
-
Hopefully hambone gets a credential.
-
Can someone shop oscar's face onto Kevin Bacon ' s body in Animal House screaming "all is well" tia
-
D Scott is preparing hard hitting questions AS WE SPEAK!
The D. Scott Fritchen Doctrine (never blame the coaches) will be in full effect.
-
Did you guys lose any players today?
-
We could get it started right now just answering the questions you folks have that's the important thing your job is to ask the questions marcus' job was to live up to the standards we set and he couldn't do it and neither could malek or jevon or wait which ones did we say were dismissed the important thing is that we've got guys coming in that just want to play basketball and play for k-state long history lots of success we're just trying to keep it at that level and take another step lots of ups and downs this past year big ups big downs but we got a lot of guys get some experience and that's the important thing even Vulture got in there contributed won some awards so he'll be back and DJamer's gonna have that boot off so you've got your inside your outside now we just need to get everyone to play hard play together and I don't see why we can't be one of the top teams in the country there's no doubt
-
Cotton Fitzpatrick and Ernie Barnett will be mentioned
Would be AMAZING! (May finally turn the tuck-tide against him?)
-
Could we just focus on the future of K-State basketball we have many award winning players returning like Vulture this is a veteran team, many were present when we defeated KU- remember that? we beat KU here you should remember that and we want to try to do that next year these guys are hungry to get back out on the court for the first time ever
-
So what's the thinking on this? A bunch of the big $ called bullshit on Currie's e-mail and told him to wheel the dorky squeakster out to explain himself?
-
D Scott is preparing hard hitting questions AS WE SPEAK!
"Coach, where do you like to be tickled? **Giggle** **Giggle**"
-
So what's the thinking on this? A bunch of the big $ called bullshit on Currie's e-mail and told him to wheel the dorky squeakster out to explain himself?
blackcats, can you confirm?
-
I bet this will be about a new summer basketball camp for grand parents and grand children, or perhaps to raise awareness for Earth Day.
ZERO CHANCE this is about how half his team doesn't like him.
-
he better fire himself, otherwise I'm going to hate whatever he says
-

any AD with a competent PR team would ensure your prediction is correct. so, i'm guessing this is a "hey oscar, get out there and defend us and score some points with those goEMAW types while you're at it".
damage control 101 taught by King DeBruce the Master
and it will fail miserably and he'll say a bunch of things that further embarrass us, etc
-
Weird time for a presser.
-

He wishes it was only half.
-
Have you ever heard of a coach having to do a damage control presser one month into the offseason?
oscar is really innovative.
-

Too bad we don't have that.
-
Agenda:
1. Compliment the crap out of Isiah and other new recruits who haven't flipped;
2. trash the ever living crap out of dismissed/transferred players, then wish them well;
3. Discuss summer camp;
4. Adversity; and
5. Field softballs

ya that's my point. but these idiots think they can calm the waters with a poorly written letter from the ad and a bumbling coach standing at a podium in front of the media.

If that is really why they're holding a press conference, then John Currie is much more out of his depth than I could have possibly imagined.
-
Friday at 4 would've been so oscar, and frankly, our entire AD.
-
I bet this will be about a new summer basketball camp for grand parents and grand children, or perhaps to raise awareness for Earth Day.
ZERO CHANCE this is about how half his team doesn't like him.
He wishes it was only half.
Well, considering that half of the team has only known him for less than a week it could be true. :dunno:
-
1. Thank the media for attending
2. Make a joke about the unpredictable Kansas weather
3. Epidemic of transfers not just K-State
4. Quote Gene Keady
5. New players perfect for motion offense and they are good people (Throwing all that were booted or
(left) completely under the Weber bus
6. Field really really soft questions in a confused and bumbling manner
7. Say the word family
8. Wants guys playing for the name on the front of the jersey, not the back, thus names will be removed
from the jersey to promote "unity"
9. Thank the media for attending
-
what if no one from the media shows up? (they've been on vacation for the past year anyway)
#rimshot #tequila #voodoolounge
-
the schedule was brutal. that actually WAS my fault.
-
Just another moment to bring up all the adversity he's overcame in his years here. I'll start the over/under on that word at 14.5
-
what if he's having the meeting to announce that his wife is pregnant?
-
Maybe he's the new coach for the Thunder?
-
Maybe he's the new coach for the Thunder?
Can you imagine King oscar having Westbrook and Durant running his #MotionOffense? :excited:
-
Maybe he's the new coach for Tabor?
-
Maybe he's the new coach for Tabor?
That would be the perfect job for oscar. He could recruit all the try hard 5 hearts that he wants and coach them to run his motion offense to perfection. Run a clean program and keep your players out of trouble and he could coach there the rest of his life. The significant cut in salary should not impact him much as any millionaire who mows his own grass probably lives pretty frugally anyway.
-
can someone liveblog it here?
-

There a division that doesn't have a shot clock? oscar's motion offense is perfect if it can be ran for a couple minutes to find an open shot, 35 seconds just isn't enough time.
-
Is there a live feed?
-
So? Is this thing actually happening?
-
absolutely nothing on twitter yet. seems weird.
-
absolutely nothing on twitter yet. seems weird.
Maybe they put him down
-
oscar probably asked everyone to "put the technology" away and had them sit in a circle holding hands
-
Maybe nobody showed up. I wouldn't.

-
Apparently, KMAN is gonna spill the beans on air at 5:10pm... :whistle1:
-
Wesley probably just told oscar he was leaving after all and now oscar has to scramble to remove the part in the speech about Wesley leading the team next year, and replace it with Wesley not living up to expectations as a KSU Wildcat while making a smoking gesture
-
Maybe oscar resigned
-
did meow meow just troll us to death with a fake presser announcement? is this the kind of person he/she is?
-
Really weird in the Twitter age that we have no idea what's happening
-
all i've seen is a pic of the back of fitz' head while waiting for this thing like 45 minutes ago

Ken Corbitt posted a few nuggets on the CJOnline site: http://cjonline.com/sports/catzone
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/590998273411788801
-
I think its pretty obvious what changes need to be made...

-
https://twitter.com/KenCorbitt/status/590998579562549248
Translated: "We couldn't win without Marcus because we didn't recruit well. I could always throw him under the bus after the season."
-
you guys, he worked TOO hard for the players
-
https://twitter.com/KenCorbitt/status/590998579562549248
Yup. He's a regular marathoner of mentoring with all of the extra miles he's gone.
-
https://twitter.com/KenCorbitt/status/590998579562549248
Jesus christ this guy
-
Just mile after extra mile, all for the benefit of the kids.
-
The kids that obviously needed to go because they rough ridin' suck.
-
what a fuckjoke. why have a presser to say exactly whatever bullshit everyone knows that you would say if you held a bullshit presser?
-
Some kids don't just sit there and let the bus run over them. Sometimes you have to go the extra mile. Just what makes oscar oscar.
-
what a fuckjoke. why have a presser to say exactly whatever bullshit everyone knows that you would say if you held a bullshit presser?
Because going the extra mile is his weakness.
-
So why didn't he recruit "winners" in the first place? What phantom force keeps making oscar recruit players he doesn't really want? Is he haunted?
-
he'll get it right this time!
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591000703553839105
-
Which is a way of saying "They" didn't want to be here. Except none of the transfers have ripped KSU on their way out.
-
he'll go the extra mile but no more than that!
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591002043562655745
-
Well, hopefully now he'll stop believing in kids.
-
oscar could guarantee 30 wins next season, and not a single reporter would call him on it at any point in time next season. He is lives in a bubble of zero consequences right now, there is essentially nothing he can say or do that he will be held accountable for. lol at you if you think there is any chance in hell he gets fired within the next 3-5 years.
-
The man, and i use the word lightly, is a rough ridin' embarrassment.
-
he'll go the extra mile but no more than that!
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591002043562655745
come on. come on. if this was true (how could it be), why would you say it? this is seriously the trashiest coach/AD situation i can think of.
-
https://twitter.com/KenCorbitt/status/590998579562549248
I considered an in-season coach dismissal. :dunno:
-
He is lives in a bubble of zero consequences right now, there is essentially nothing he can say or do that he will be held accountable for. lol at you if you think there is any chance in hell he gets fired within the next 3-5 years.
this is true. kstate and john currie do not care about winning basketball. the weber hire told anyone with half a brain that fact. so now we let oscar try to build up what he burnt down. next year is officially year one. i passionately hate our basketball team now. kstate basketball with nino and gip gone is officially my least favorite big 12 basketball team. screw every single person currently associated with it.
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591003353125031936
-
what kind of kid is going to want to come here and play basketball at a place that makes them want to leave and then throws turds at their back when they do.
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591003353125031936
Yep. eff this.
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591004258964635649
-
The only reason we would ever be better next year is if the new guys are some reincarnation of the Fab 5, or something. Uncommon frosh success and pt.
-
slap that on a t-shirt...
KANSAS STATE BASKETBALL-VERY COMPETITIVE
-
Fitz just told Kietz the coaches are getting a lot positive feedback and support from administration.
So mumped.
-
Why call a presser to say EXACTLY what everyone knows he will say? This is absolutely related to that bumbling email. Currie told him to get out there and rally the tucks by trashing the kids.
-
Isn't Currie out and about Manhattan all the time and rarely wearing his hard hat?
-
lol

Yet watch him use it as an excuse multiple times next year. Not a single reporter will call him out on this.

Exactly. Nothing is in confidence if it can serve oscar's purpose.

I like the subtle "drugs" reference when talking about "chemistry" in Europe

IF you set high expectations.. my lord.
-
Transfer "epidemic" reference around 4:50 of Part 1. "Almost 700-some kids last year transferred."
oscar Weber thinks K-Staters are too stupid to understand basic arithmetic.
-
The transition (from Frank) caught up with him this year?
-
Transfer "epidemic" reference around 4:50 of Part 1. "Almost 700-some kids last year transferred."
oscar Weber thinks K-Staters are too stupid to understand basic arithmetic.
The tucks will be using this stat.
-
Between reporters failing to grill oscar on transfers, season, chemistry, etc and his "I don't know what you're getting at" evasion, quickly followed by his patented stream-of-consciousness blabbering, pretty much 90 percent of the presser was white noise.
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591003353125031936
LOL, The defections were merely a statistical anomaly...just good old fashioned regression to the mean.
You all realize that they think you are rough ridin' stupid, right? I mean you understand that John Currie believes that you, as a K-State fan, are a rough ridin' imbecile, right?
-
https://twitter.com/jlkurtz/status/591024313156767744
Direct shot at #viewfromtheparkinglot
-
I cannot believe that oscar Weber said "My weakness is going the extra mile."
-
https://twitter.com/KellisRobinett/status/591004258964635649
This is fine by me. If they improve upon this year, then he can stay another year. If they don't, dumbfuck resigns.
Deal?
Gonna win 'em all!
-
https://twitter.com/jlkurtz/status/591024313156767744
last ditch effort to get people to come to the games?

https://twitter.com/jlkurtz/status/591023623399284737
holy moly
-
So it's safe to say not one reporter asked him one single question of substance in 40 rough ridin' minutes?
-
So it's safe to say not one reporter asked him one single question of substance in 40 rough ridin' minutes?
Correct
-
Our media are all giant rough ridin' gaping pussies. Can one reporter please do their job and not pander to the AD?
-
So does the AD have the power to pull your media credentials is you ask a question they don't like? Only explanation I can come up with.
-
We need a columnist, not a reporter, to step up.
-
So does the AD have the power to pull your media credentials is you ask a question they don't like? Only explanation I can come up with.
Currie probably had armed security with guns to their heads....and I'm only 50% joking
-
This is like oscar's dream scenario. AD doesn't give a eff about basketball, but is an arrogant prick that refuses to admit mistakes, and oscar is his mistake. Then the local media eats up any and all accusations made by middle aged white folk against young black kids, so he can slander with impunity. This is going to end so badly.
-
I cannot believe that oscar Weber said "My weakness is going the extra mile."
I still cannot believe he is actually head coach of our basketball program.
-
He did give a shoutout to goEMAW when he mentioned the "faceless" faction of our fanbase that doesn't like him though...
:gocho:

I'm not going to go to one of his games - and even when I did it's not like he engaged me in conversation when I tried - but if he wants to have a face-to-face thing, I'm down.
But I'd rather finish my nutPAK convo w/Currie.
-
So oscar's boss currie looks at all this and approves. That should be a pretty damning strike against an athletic director. Yet currie's boss schulz looks at currie's handling of all this and approves, and hell, even sends personal emails in response to currie criticism and tells them the critics to stop being mean. So that should be a strike against schulz's ability to judge personnel. Who's ultimately schulz's boss that says wtf is wrong w/all 3 of these people?
-
So it's safe to say not one reporter asked him one single question of substance in 40 rough ridin' minutes?
It's been four years since J Mart covered the Cats.
We've come a long way.
-
https://twitter.com/jlkurtz/status/591023623399284737
holy moly
this is baffling. at least admit you understand why the question is being asked.
-
Lol at you if you think there is any chance in hell he gets fired within the next 3-5 years.
Yep. We're in it for the LONG haul with oscar. He could literally go winless in conference next season and keep his job. This over the top damage control campaign is simply setting the groundwork to justify the failure next year.
Currie is touring oscar's recruits around the BTF for God sakes.
-
I wish KC had an NBA team.
-
We need a columnist, not a reporter, to step up.
Jason Whitlock isn't walking through that door. Mellinger will write some piece where he admires KSU for giving oscar time.
-

I honestly don't think that's true. I mean, look at what happened with Leti. It looked like Currie and co. were going to stick to their guns, hell or high water. Then all of the sudden she gets released. With really no explanation that made any sense whatsoever. I think John Currie is just absolutely horrible at presenting K-State in a good light, and building any kind of goodwill with the fanbase (or whoever the hell he needs to be building goodwill with at the time). My guess is that oscar is gone after next year, and John Currie supports him until the bitter end, then all of the sudden he's fired and nobody can really figure out what changed.

He, probably intentionally, misses the whole point and the rattles on more five minutes about 20 different things just to ensure the topic is dead.
-

Mellinger actually thinks oscar can X & O it too. It's concerning.

That's already been tried. There's already ku and KC won't support two "pro teams"

A Whitlock-style carve up of oscar would be enjoyable.

You don't need a reporter or columnist to make these people's lives hell. You want accountability from oscar, so have some accountability for yourselves. Get out there and make it happen.

AT LIKE A MONTH AND A HALF'S WORTH OF UPCOMING CATBACKER EVENTS ACROSS KANSAS.
i can't remember if i ever told you about the a.d. employee that mentioned you to me, not knowing that i know you. based on you demanding accountability at a catbacker event in kansas.
it's a proven method that gathers attention and attracts notice.

Someone mentioned online me to me at a Catbacker event one time, was pretty LOL.

It's time to be loud, time to be rowdy. Go cats!
-
The final account of oscar Weber is not going to be dictated by oscar Weber. It's not going to be crafted by professional PR wonks. It's not going to be pretty, but it will, at long last, be honest.

I bet this will be about a new summer basketball camp for grand parents and grand children, or perhaps to raise awareness for Earth Day.
ZERO CHANCE this is about how half his team doesn't like him.
any AD with a competent PR team would ensure your prediction is correct. so, i'm guessing this is a "hey oscar, get out there and defend us and score some points with those goEMAW types while you're at it".

Too bad we don't have that.
ya that's my point. but these idiots think they can calm the waters with a poorly written letter from the ad and a bumbling coach standing at a podium in front of the media.
it's almost like we knew what was going to happen this afternoon. and this season. and next season.
this is all been so obvious from the beginning when oscar was hired. i'll always be mad at myself for actually giving these dickheads a chance. live and learn i guess.
question for the combo fans. how can you go to our football games and support what really matters most to currie, if he doesn't support what matters to you? it's quite the conundrum.
-
The media questions weren't that bad. They generated a whole lot of gold in oscar's answers, and that's all you can really ask for. The tucks aren't dumb enough to buy that.

I seriously don't understand how the mods Haven't gotten a press pass yet. I mean, I get it, the athletic department hates this site, but for Christ sakes get a plant in there like Winters and get the real questions answered.

Criticism has rained down on Weber with each dismissal and transfer, but he said he did not notice any of it. When fans approach him around Manhattan, he said, he is greeted with handshakes and thank yous from strangers telling him to keep up the good work. He said many have told him he runs the program with integrity.

Yes.

He's begging for it.
With all of the turmoil, there is a segment of the Wildcat fan base upset with Weber and the direction of the program. He is aware of the discontent but paints a positive picture from his interaction with people he has met face-to-face.
“I think there’s a lot of restlessness but there’s a lot of positive, too,” he said. “People appreciate if you hold people accountable to do it the right way.
“I’m sure there’s people who go on the Internet, the opinion people that are faceless. Come to Catbacker events or come to the game and ask me a question. Don’t go faceless on the Internet. I’ve had lots and lots of positive feedback because people believe in K-State and the way it should be done.”

“It’s a great opportunity,” Weber said. “One dad called me and said, ‘Keep kicking ’em off. My son will start.’ ”
“I was flying out of Kansas City,” Weber said, “and even the guy looking at my license said, ‘Good job, Coach.’ So people like it when you hold people accountable and do it the right way.”

Hold people accountable and do it the right way.
Holy crap. The reshaped roster due to the national transfer epidemic, caring too much, holding people accountable and doing it the right way. Next year inexperience and an imbalanced due to all of the above will be the excuse.
I'm convinced at this stage we could forfeit the next three seasons and oscar's employment would be perversely justified.
This guy is going to have a longer run than Wooldridge. Just let that sink it.
-
Zero accountability for the coach who brought in these 'rotten apples'?
Just a :dunno: about the dreaded epidemic of transfers, and a buncha attaboys about running the program "the right way".

I like how the underlying message of "you can't run a program the right way and win" is apparently just a given to all these losers shaking his hand (allegedly) on the streets of MHK. Hey oscar, and brucetards, it's not rough ridin' mutually exclusive.
Also, I don't give a eff about doing it the "right" way, as long as it's just right enough not to get caught with violations. Oh and as long as you rough ridin' win games.

I'm imaging you saying something to oscar and then he smiles, calmly walks over and says "hey daris that cheeseburger sure looks good..." And then sweeps his arm across the table knocking both you and kk's meals into the floor then saying "now it's a floorburger" then as he's walking away Chris, without saying a word, pulls a wad of cash out of his pocket, throws a Ben on the table then hocks a loog on your shoes.
After finishing his cottage cheese and mug root beer, he walks out to the parking lot, gets a baseball bat out of the trunk of his dodge neon, and loudly calls out "hey daris, I think you got a tail light out" and then smashes the eff out of your tail light. Chris takes off his jacket and rolls up his sleeves like he's about to do something really B.A. but then decides to just hock another loog, this time on the drivers side door handle and he makes sure you were watching when he did it....never once breaking eye contact. As he walks off he directs his stare at kk and says "tell your friends what you saw"
Honestly if that happened I wouldn't be the least bit surprised bc the who MBB program is just bizzaroworld.

KC Star article said oscar kept getting more excited and optimistic about next year. Last when he said this could be a special year we all got excited with addition Edwards who could jump higher than any human and Big Tank Hurt able to bomb from 3 at will. Fooled once, but not twice. I think Wade, Barry, and Dante can be special, and it will fun to watch them. It could be a special year for Wes. IMO a .500 season is what expect. I don't think Weber can recruit pt. guards and his motion offense goes to hell.

Weber did not seem bothered by the departures this week, saying changes had to be made for the good of the program. Transfers are common in college basketball, he said. Under Martin, K-State lost 10 players in five years and was set to lose more had he stayed instead of leaving for South Carolina. It was Weber who convinced players such as Will Spradling and Nino Williams to stay. After retaining a full roster last year, Weber said, the law of averages is simply setting in.

Obviously, it is easy to get that top-10 kid. That next group that is coachable and wants to work at it and has a little chip on their shoulder, (getting them) is key.
nothing wrong with taking the easy route.

You go through some of the recruiting service things with kids and our name is in on a lot of kids. You don’t get them all, obviously, but I think our coaches work really hard and K-State is a factor.

“Mr. Currie talks about transition with jobs,” Weber said, “and usually when you have that transition, if you follow anybody, there is usually some kind of setback. We were very fortunate for the most part to maintain all the guys that first year and we transitioned great and had an unbelievable year. We were able to avoid some of that. Obviously, it caught up to us now. It is just part of it.”

Average and mean is what I get from this latest article. No losses from Rummies like Southern Texas, and a winning non-con would be good step. Dante may be the diamond in a rough. What part of Wes did they measure?

Mass exodus.
And lol at weber losing 6 players in one year as some reversion to a mean.
-
The best mid-major coaches recruit players good enough to play in a power conference. The best power-conference coaches recruit players with NBA futures.
They recruit up.
At K-State, Weber has struggled to do the same, signing too many players that turned out to be troublemakers or lacked Big 12 talent.
Currie/Weber have mastered the art of repeating a falsehood so many times that it becomes fact.
-
it doesn't matter if it's fact or not. he evaluated and recruited them. painting them as troublemakers doesn't make weber look better.
as kellis juxtaposes perfectly, it's the same as signing players that lack ability.

It shouldn't matter, but it does. And Kellis is referring specifically to the likes of Orris in reyards to talent. The troublemaker tag is for the rest (namely Foster) and justifies the transfers to our stupid rough ridin' fanbase.
You are right, regardless of the reason, it should fall at oscar's feet, but it won't because the troublemaker transfers didn't want to do it the "right way".

Catbacker Tour, Western Kansas Here We Come
One of the nation's best and most comprehensive fan appreciation tours gets underway Monday as K-State Athletics’ and the K-State Alumni Association’s annual Catbacker tour heads to Dodge City for our first big event. Click here for a full schedule, which includes consecutive stops in Dodge City, Garden City, Scott City, Colby and Hays over five days beginning Monday and appearances from Coaches Snyder (Dodge City/Scott City), Weber (Garden City/Scott City), Mittie (Scott City) and Dibbini (Dodge City/Garden City) as well as numerous assistant coaches.
There is much more to write about, but It’s time for me to get in position to simultaneously watch the Bat Cats at KU, Robert Streb in the Wells Fargo Classic on my screen and monitor rowing, track and Matt Green on Twitter and the internet. Best of luck to all competing, congratulations to all new K-State graduates this weekend and we'll see you out on the road next week.
Go Cats!

Scott City Catbackers are all going to this thing and none of them use the internet. They never planned to actually update anything.

I don't care about ksu's website getting updated. I want progress reports directly from heroes.

Catbackers are true believers. Next year's team will put a good showing on the floor, no weed induced stupor. Should be fun to watch and see them grow.

Counterpoint: A weed induced stupor is usually fun to watch

What if they grow too fast, like a weed?
