We don't have a revenue problem - we have a spending problem. Plain and simple.
http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/cbo-feds-taxing-more-spending-more-running-bigger-deficit-2015 (http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/cbo-feds-taxing-more-spending-more-running-bigger-deficit-2015)
But instead of the media confronting Hillary about this, expect them to pepper the GOP hopefuls about whether they'd support "$1 in tax increases for every $10 in spending cuts" etc. The idea that we can tax our way out of the massive annual deficits is a LIE.

How much control over spending does Hillary currently have? Seems like the SOS has very little

Media :curse:
They're on your side, seven. should be: Media

The govt should keep an eye on woot.com for the kind of stuff they know they will need.
-
Maybe Dailysteals.com, too? :dunno:
-
Yeah - there's just nothing left to cut, is there?

Defense budget is obese. Would be the logical first choice.

You don't have to have a first choice. Cut everything, defense included.

Isn't that what Obama did with sequestration?

Isn't that what Obama did with sequestration?
The great sequestration "cuts" only slightly reduced the rate of growth in spending. That's not an actual cut.
As for Obama's hand in the sequestration - he offered it as a poison pill. His strategy was to force the GOP to accept a package of tax increases and spending cuts by presenting the sequester as the only alternative. He assumed the GOP would never accept the sequester, but they did.
So way to go Obama for stumbling bassackwards into temporarily reducing the rate of spending growth...
But it's still increasing. And we're still averaging nearly trillion dollar annual deficits.
-
I view sequestration as a huge failure that is costing the economy billions of dollars, but I guess some people can support just about anything.

When you announce you are running for president, the media tends to ask you questions about what you view as problems and how you would fix them. But, as a I said, the media won't try to pin Hillary down on this. Instead, they'll try to paint the GOP as extremists by asking those candidates the "$1 for $10" scenario, just like they did last election, when raising taxes is indisputably not the solution to our deficits.
-
I view sequestration as a huge failure that is costing the economy billions of dollars, but I guess some people can support just about anything.
Are you referring only to the sequestration, or do you generally believe that cutting spending "costs our economy"? If the answer is yes, then do you have a solution to balancing our budget (I don't see how that's possible), or do you just not give a crap about our debt increasing by nearly double, or a cool $10 trillion, during Obama's 8 years?
-
The debt like literally doesn't matter at all

I think the government should either maintain its property or sell it. Cutting maintenance funding and holding onto the interstates, lakes, reservoirs, and national parks is just stupid.

Now we have a revenue and spending problem!!!
Thanks Guys
-
Agree we need to cut spending, a lot.
Disagree $3-4T is a revenue problem. Only a mongoloid would think that.
-
:opcat:
-
If no one wants to actually decrease spending then only a mong would say we don't need to increase revenue
-
There is an old thread for every situation
-
conservative outrage is palpable
-
But Hilary!
-
Well I’m angry about it. Like I said in the DACA thread? if there’s one thing Pubs and Dems can still find bipartisan agreement on, it’s spending us a crap tom further into debt. It’s embarassing and irresponsible. And it’s going to make it more difficult to sustain the big victory on slashing tax rates.

Almost like it's not a victory at all.

I don't think you realize how butthurt you sound when you say stuff like this.
-
Lol considering your first post kicking this thread off
-
Well the world is different now Phil
-
I don't think KazWdub has a problem admitting he is pretty butthurt about the way Trump has treated his base like a toilet.
-
Trump’s base dgaf about spending or anything policy related. His base only cares that Obama and Hillary are not president.

I think they care about religion and family values/sanctity of marriage
-
Well they sure elected a champion of those values.
-
every good pub knows that cutting taxes RAISES revenue
-
Ran a surplus in January
-
Tax revenues were up as well :Wha:

Good to hear! Now if he can get the market back to Obama levels...

The deficit - the amount that Washington’s spending exceeds its revenues - will expand to $804 billion in fiscal 2018, which ends on Sept. 30, up from $665 billion in fiscal 2017, CBO said.
The term "historic" no longer has any meaning with the press.

Well, you see, sometimes when a wife gets pregnant, God tells her she has to stop working and stay home, so the family needs to deal with less revenue, but they also need to buy more guns to protect their homes from the growing population of minority unbelievers. If the husband (poor working people) is too lazy to get a promotion or a second job, the budget just won’t balance itself. So we need the poor of this country to just work harder.

Also, the husband's chance at being uber wealthy was stolen by the immigrants from Mexica (MS13)

work harder, make more money, life is better.

Would love to if my back weren't hurt from that car accident and if my job in the mine hadn't been taken by a MS13 member
-
You just need to get a new job and work really hard at it.
there are literally jobs everywhere. If it doesn't pay well work harder.

Man, Republican control of Congress over most of the 2nd term of Clinton really did wonders for that guys legacy.
-
It’s just too bad republicans in Congress only care about deficits when a democrat is in the White House.

"Think about this. The same congressional Republicans who over the previous eight years wanted everyone to believe they were fiscal conservatives hell bent on balancing the budget and not increasing the national debt, sponsored, passed and then danced around the fire because of legislation that will result in a permanent $1 trillion deficit and a debt that will soar to close to 100 percent of GDP by 2028.
And...House and Senate Republicans were enabled by a GOP president who during his campaign said he would eliminate the deficit and completely pay off the debt."

It still holds true, good to see 'Libs suddenly concerned about deficits and budgets again. Not many (not any) dissenters in the lib wing during those days of the 500-800 billion plus dollar deficits. Ready to meltdown at the drop of a hat with any discussion about an actual budget.

and you right?

I don't think you get to bitch about spending when to people you support are recalcitrant in even reducing the rate at which spending increases. The ball is in your court, idiots.

Do any of you guys really care about any of this stuff or do you just like busting each other’s balls? It’s got to be the latter.
