I dunno, would seem easier on everyone going the sleeping route...Killed instantly in a head on would be OK as well.

...just a quick follow up on this...

Which ways have you died?  Do you commune with forces that I do not understand (Chingon does not count, though technically an accurate answer in the affirmative to this question)?

And, my Canadian friend is looking for morphine...again.

when you think about it, there's a lot of ways to die.  if you're canadian friend finds a good source, let me know.  i don't want to kill anyone with it, nor am i an addict.  i just want a steady supply.  in case i'm dying of something else, so i can quickly die of a morphine overdose instead.

I had a friend from college fall off a cliff while hiking in the sierra nevada's.  He fell about the same distance as Dylan, think around 70-100 feet, somewhere around there.  Was about the same age too.  Actually, sounded very similar to what happened to Dylan, like some rocks gave out from underneath him.

He was able to have an open casket, neck looked like jello though.  Sad.

This a really sad thing to happen to any EMAW'er.  Thoughts go out to his family.

Dylan lost my support as an athlete when he tore out his shoulder. Not sure if any of you know the story, but my old roomates(Justin Williams(basketball) and Issac Fakasiieki(track)) were doing some landscaping in the summer for a lawyer there in town. Moving some really big rocks that it was taking both of them to be able to move. Dylan came up and bet them that he could move them on his own and when he tried to pick one up tore his shoulder.

Was it the "RIP Dylan Meier" or its placement near the top of the board that threw you off?   :dunno:

I feel sick to my stomach right now, not just from the news of Dylan's tragedy but from reading the posts from some of you so-called EMAWers.  I know I'll get annihilated for posting this, but it needs to be said anyway.  I cannot for the life of me understand how a person can make fun of another for dying.  I didn't understand it with Brooks Berringer, and I don't understand it now.  Whatever you thought of his football career here, he was a human being with a family who is suffering terribly right now.  What if his family would read this board looking for support from the Wildcat Nation and find some of these comments instead?  I don't want to understand the sick mind that even thinks these things let alone putting it out there for others to see.  Would you say these things out loud or is it just because you're anonymous on this board?  I've looked at some other fan boards, and it's pathetic when the fan base making jokes is the one he played for.  Go ahead and make fun of me, but I hope this makes you think just a little bit.

I send out many prayers and condolences to the Meier family and sincerely hope that none of you ever have to deal with anything like this.

I don't get the wishing someone would die (regardless of whether it's dick asphyxiation) AND angry that someone made smart ass comments about someone who died.  kind of seems like you should either not want people to make smart ass comments AND continue to live or you want people to make those smart ass comments AND die in various ways that involve male genitalia.

Exactly.  Don't get all high and mighty w/ your moral trip while you're hoping someone dies.  OkCat  making comments about Dylan's death won't make him any deader.  However, OkCat could be more dead, via dick choking or some other untimely, yet somewhat humorous method.

You know what's appalling?  This thread has made it 5 pages and nobody has asked if Dylan's shoulder is ok.   :dunno:

First, many, many, many posters on GPC would consider your suggestion that Dylan wasn't a christian to be a insult to Dylan...they'd be appalled.

Second, if they were to accept your message as truthful, they'd simply move on to praying for God to comfort the family since their kid was in hell.  Personally, I'd find that to much more offensive than tacky remarks about heavenly completion percentages and so forth.

Do we really know that he "fell" and didn't "jump?"  Personally, it does not matter to me either way....but I have known of people who have claimed that loved ones had an accident rather than kill themselves.  It's obviously tragic and sad either way....just saying that before we go around saying that the guy was careless and fell he may have actually been very thoughtful about it, who knows?

Sad deal either way.  Prayers to all involved, etc.

Realistically, Dylan would have realized how badly he sucked and killed himself several years ago.  Wouldn't make sense to do it yesterday.

Not to try and fight your battles for you SD, but 4Life you did say "experience something tragic", not fall off a cliff. Everyone has to live through someone close to them dieing, it doesn't make what happened to Dylan anyless of a terrible thing. My cousins' 2 year old having a tumor large enough to push his organs around, or a friends 2 year old daughter being diagnosed with luekemia are also tragedies.  Some people deal with their feelings one way, others in another way.  Some people get offended at every little things, others don't. I completely agree that everyone has to experience tragedy in their life (illness, death, etc.).  Someone earlier alluded to our soldiers overseas...  I'm certainly not trying to say that this is any more tragic than any other death (though I can't imagine how his brothers will get past witnessing it).  Dylan's death isn't any more important just because he was a football player or because of the horrific nature of it.  Any death is horrible for the people who loved that person.  That's my whole point.  People are suffering right now, and they can deal with it how they choose.  Why total strangers want to make fun of him right now is beyond me.  I don't get offended at every little thing or else I certainly wouldn't read this message board.  I just think this is crossing the line.

BTW, I didn't call anyone a d*ck...that was a different poster.  I'm just trying to show some respect for Dylan.

Could not agree more!  I know this site tries to be all edgy and everything, but come on.  This is not the time to make fun of the guy.  I too have looked at other team boards, and no one is stooping as low as this board.  It's sickening. To say Dylan's family should not be reading this thread is ridiculous.  The thread is titled RIP Dylan Meier.  It is on a K-State board.  Seems pretty logical that it would be sympathetic towards his family and sad for the loss of his young life.  I've talked to several friends who read this board regularly, and all are in agreement it is just in poor, poor taste.

FWIW,  I feel horrible for the meier family and very saddened by this.  but I also deal with tragedies by poking fun at them and making off color jokes.  Freaking out about how I and anyone else deals with tragedy is a very douche thing to do.  What if people called you a mommy for crying?  That's how you deal with tragedy, but many people would think that is a really faggy thing to do. Who's right, who's wrong?   Stop being a douche and take the time to realize that OKCat and anyone else is EMAW and deep down, they are saddened by this.  They just deal with their feelings in a different way.

Approximately 5,000 unborn U.S. citizens have now been killed since Dylan fell off the cliff yesterday.  Keep them in your prayers as well.

And was there a 5 page thread here or a bazillion posts on gpc when Elijah Alexander died?  I didn't even notice that had happened.   :opcat:?

RIP Elijah.  You were one of the very best players (and maybe the very best) that formed the foundation of this program when Snyder arrived.

And RIP Dylan.

I love how many "long time listeners, first time callers" these types of threads bring out.  I also believe that many of these comments are in poor taste, but if you didn't already know that these doodz had poor taste, then you haven't been here long enough.  As soon as I heard that DM had died, I knew there would be a thread mocking his shoulder, falling off cliff etc.  I thought there might be a reference to Wile E. Coyote, but there hasn't.  SO I guess that's a start, right?  Anyway, hopefully Dylan is in a better place now and hopefully his brother's and other family can somehow get past this.  Hopefully Kerry Meier is drafted in the middle rounds and prompty blows both knees out.  I kid....I kid.   Sorta.

FWIW,  I feel horrible for the meier family and very saddened by this.  but I also deal with tragedies by poking fun at them and making off color jokes.  Freaking out about how I and anyone else deals with tragedy is a very douche thing to do.  What if people called you a frog for crying?  That's how you deal with tragedy, but many people would think that is a really froggy thing to do. Who's right, who's wrong?   Stop being a douche and take the time to realize that OKCat and anyone else is EMAW and deep down, they are saddened by this.  They just deal with their feelings in a different way.

Frog.

I've talked to several friends who read this board regularly, and all are in agreement it is just in poor, poor taste.

in all fairness, it seems like both of you are lumping the whole board in with a couple of people. if you have problems with those individuals, maybe you should address them and not the board as a whole. also, this site doesn't really "try" to do anything other than not over moderate which is good and won't ever change.

Sorta.

When my grandparents died, the family got together and told funny stories about them.  It's a great way to remember the good times and escape the sadness for awhile.  I understand that method of coping.  I hardly think the comments on here fall under the same category.

And RIP Dylan.
the Alexander thread didn't make it 1 page, there was one though-

Do we really know that he "fell" and didn't "jump?"  Personally, it does not matter to me either way....but I have known of people who have claimed that loved ones had an accident rather than kill themselves.  It's obviously tragic and sad either way....just saying that before we go around saying that the guy was careless and fell he may have actually been very thoughtful about it, who knows?

Sad deal either way.  Prayers to all involved, etc.

maybe he died in an autoerotic asphyxiation episode gone tragically wrong, and the family pulled his pants up and threw him off the cliff as a cover?  i wouldn't blame the family for that, even though it obviously cost the county a lot of time and money to get the body.  not my place to judge.

either that or he was maybe horsing around up on that rock?  anyone think he was horsing around?

yes definitely.  you wouldn't even have time to shoot up w. morphine if you fell off a cliff.  it'd just be "oh crap, i'm going to die!  why was i horsing around on top of a cliff?  why?  oh, why?"  and then unimaginable pain until you finally died.  hear failure would be a walk in the park in comparison.

benignly commenting about a girls boobs is quite different than mocking and pissing all over a dead KStater.  A young man who worked pretty had for the football team.

it's not like I said anything lewd about her boobs, so don't make it into more than it was, a tongue in cheek, pretty benign comment.   and don't be a hypocrite and act like you've never said anything remotely similar.

there's a fine line between some of the jocularity around here sometimes and the downright disrespect being shown Dylan and his family.   As others have said, I dare you to dig up anything remotely as disrespectful posted by an opposing fan.    The comments here do nothing but portray our fanbase as truely immature and despicable people.   don't give me that crap about it's how you cope with tragedy...no, it's not...the vast majority of us didn't know DM from a face on the field and a name in the paper, so don't act like you have to make black humor to cope with it.   You do it because you like to be "edgy" and "classless".    Well, there is a time and a place.    And the things said around here are being said way too soon, and with a pretty pathetic tone.   At least have the decency to give it time.   That's the only slack I see to be given....people didn't and shouldn't have joked about 9/11 on 9/12.   People who joked about Brook Berringer on ksufans at least were doing to far removed and tongue in cheek.    That's where the fine line is....it's a bit hypocritical to say, but that's the only reason that doesn't bother me, is time had passed, a lot of it.  And if I was a Nubb fan, I still would probably be bothered about it.

Thank you.

why was i horsing around on top of a cliff?  why?  oh, why?"

I was thinking about this horsing around angle.  I mean, you don't just fall off a cliff unless you're horsing around.   Stupid.  Reminds me of the decapitated Cat Tracker guy.

The report I read was that there were some loose rocks.  He stepped onto it, they gave way and he fell.

were there signs up?  notices about loose rocks and/or long drops?  this meier family has one hell of a lawsuit, imo.  hope arkansas, or the feds, or whoever is responsible for this tragedy has deep pockets.

Look, no disrespect to Dylan, but Snyder's release today says that they'll dedicate Saturday's game and next season to Dylan and have a video tribute and moment of silence for him.

That's nice and all, but don't forget Elijah.  Falling off a cliff is more dramatic than losing a 5 year battle to cancer, but Elijah was still in his 30's - way too young.

Elijah certainly deserves at least the same treatment as Dylan.  And he has kids that should be there to see it:

Quote
MANHATTAN, Kan. - Former Kansas State defensive end Elijah Alexander, who lettered for the Wildcats from 1988-1991, has passed away at the age of 39 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A four-year letterman, Alexander was a team captain for the 1991 squad and finished his career with 234 total tackles, 34 tackles for loss and 10.0 sacks. Following an appearance in the 1991 Senior Bowl, Alexander was drafted in the 10th round of the 1992 NFL Draft by Tampa Bay and went on to play 10 seasons in the NFL.

After being diagnosed with cancer in 2005, Alexander began the Tackle Myeloma Foundation (TMF58) and the Tackle Cancer Foundation (TCF), which provides information, support, and financial aid to families and caregivers fighting Myeloma and childhood cancers.

The Wake and viewing will be Monday, March 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco, Texas. The Celebration of Life for Elijah Alexander will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas.

Alexander is survived by his wife Kimberly, two sons Elijah IV, age 14 and Evan, age 12, mother Camala Ridley, sister Carn Michelle Alexander, and brother Shannon Ridley.

Somebody form a committee to kick Old Balls in the balls over this.

Holy crap.  I'm positive I stood on that rock when I hiked there last June.    :ohno:  It's a fair distance back to the trailhead and there wasn't a whole lot of cell coverage in that area.  Not that there was probably anything that could have been done.  94' is actually a fairly short drop in that area.  A good portion of the trail walks near the edge of that cliff with the end of the trail at Whittaker Point (aka Hawksbill crag).  Its probably closer to 200' there.  The only chance he would have had is to have been slowed by trees, but that would have been a longshot.

He had a long-term plan, though, that not many people knew about. The adventures would slow. Meier wanted to be a football coach and planned on applying to be a graduate assistant at Kansas State and Maryland, where his old offensive coordinator is now coaching.

If Dylan got either job, he’d leave Korea in January and begin the rest of a remarkable life.

Russell Brand (British comedian) was fired from MTV Europe for showing up for work on 9/12 dressed as Osama Bin Laden.  Then they rehired him, because, hey, that is funny.

if i was forced to make a message board and could only include 25 posters on it, 0506 would be one. i loved that guy.

Too bad "what he does" is about as meaningful as a snail pissing on a pebble.

If you picked 1,089 days after Dylan Meier died until Fanning used it as an opportunity to FanningBrag, you win!

2 days away from the 13th anniversaray of Dyl's tumble.  RIP!

Kerry now lives in NYC and is the "regional director of food services" for something called "NutraCo"

Allen Webb's location is unknown.

Ron Prince is still searching for his next bold and daring opportunity.
