That's surface temps, the air temps just above the surface are barely higher than natural turf.
One of the factors in FIFA certification is how it scores in Skin abrasions tests (and a myriad of other tests) that are ISO certified.
These are not cheap artificial grass fields that indoor soccer complexes etc. etc. throw down.
Paging Dax. Current air temperature in Edmonton for the WWC kickoff, 75 degrees. Current temperature of the FIFA certified turf in Edmonton, over 120 degrees.

There would be similar things on any natural grass field that had been all painted up with football lines and various logos. The only way to completely get rid of those is to completely resurface both grass and artificial grass fields.

this might be trying too hard. then again, there was a lot of worse crap out there so pretty easy to stand out. obviously solo was the best person out there, but back four = absolute crap, forwards = mostly uninvolved, poor finishing. holiday and lloyd were disappointing in the middle. our wings definitely weren't the problem last night

Yes, thank god the temperatures in Canada have only been in the mid 70's so that amazing FIFA certified turf, that I've been told only elevates a few degrees above air temperature, has only been as hot as 130 degrees. If Canada gets into the 80s or 90s players may actually combust. Some of the players have said the turf makes their shoes feel like they are on fire. A few more degrees and they may actually know what that's like.

In my head I was going ape crap every time she got the ball on her foot outside of the box. I thought she and everyone else were trying way too hard and were super impatient, forcing the ball into places where they shouldn't have been in, way too often. They played like a team that's inferior and knows they are inferior so instead of holding the ball and waiting for seams we just kept bombing the ball down the field, trying to force the ball to two forwards who were never in position. They played like our men used to play. The match was so unwatchable because Australia played the exact same way. When we got the 3-1 lead we actually started to play the way we should have.

I don't think Dax realizes that, sure, you might be able to play one game or two, and only get 1st degree burns. Its the ensuing 3, 4, 5 games that cause the 2nd and in some rare cases 3rd degree burns.

Be sure to go outside when you're there. Lots of scenery! I really enjoyed hanging out in Stanley Park for an afternoon. Lots of fun stuff to do there. The weather was perfect the entire time we were there; their summers are just unreal. Olympic Village was also very neat. I don't know about that. The performance they registered against Sweden spoke volumes to me. I'll grant that formation and coaching matters, but while in the game, those players must make the issue of playing time or starting undeniable.

Naw. There was one save in that match she could have but didn't. Even if you don't buy that they are not comparable because Scurry wasn't a regular at that point, she came in cold.

Seems like free continental breakfast would have been offered for the price we were paying to stay at hotel but it wasn't.
I was on the 6th floor and it went to use the ice machine and also to get a soda late at night, wasn't convenient that the soda machine was sold out for every single soda it offered (I just went to a different floor to get a soda) but it was at 1am in the morning so it was like "Ah man, I just want to go back to sleep already". The service downstairs at the resort wasn't that good, there was a small bar you could go to get drinks but the person giving the drinks must have took off for the day, I waited for over 10 minutes for a person to comeback to the bar so I could happily pay for a drink but no one ever showed up anymore and people started to get in line to wait. We did see staff walking by (lifeguards) but they didn't really seem to care that we were waiting and didn't even try to call anyone to help us waiting people out..
There was one morning I was getting ready to go out for the day and the housekeeping staff arrived to clean up room, I told them I was going to be gone in 15 minutes and they said they would comeback but I noticed they never did when I arrived later that night.
I did use the computer center downstairs and it was very convenient, i roamed the internet for a bit and printed out my boarding passes for my flight back to California.
Overall this hotel was alright to stay at, My 1st initial impression was "WOW!" but then the experience kind of went down hill from there and especially for the price we were paying to stay. There were staff doing many great things and working their butts off to offer great service and other staff who didn't seem to care too much.
My best comparison would be like this, Would you rather drive a car that offers minimal features like a standard 5 speed manual transmission? Roll down manual windows? A regular FM radio? Cloth seats? but all the features work? And a standard warranty for free regular maintenance? (stay at a Motel 6?). Or would you rather drive a luxury car that is tempermental, the touchscreen navigation doesn't always work, a power window isn't working, your power seat isn't working, your moonroof gets stuck on a day where its about to rain, and you have to pay for regular maintenance that you feel should be offered free of a car this price (Adam's Mark Hotel).
This hotel does some great things and they have great people working here but if I had to comeback anytime soon the I would choose a Motel 6 and just have the basics. I do hope some improvements will be made here.

Then she complains about JJ Watt making more money and its like she doesn't understand basic economic principles. Also, I am with her on the fact that playing on astro turf probably sucks, but don't tell me that the black rubber pieces call cancer. Just say it sucks and that the standard is different for men and women is bullshit.

Yea but that is far from anything proven and they study cancer in everything. I'm not saying its impossible there is a link, just that its the weakest argument. Have a functioning health system, government preparation for infectious disease outbreaks, or an adequate response to disease spreading insects. Pretty much what they are doing in Miami. Lots more education and intervention. They were caught totally unprepared and this shows what the protests were all complaining about in regards to urban development and the near collapse of their welfare state.
