It's pretty clear that KU didn't want to apologize first for that vicious headlock choke slam their assistant coach gave to one of our Rhodes Scholars. Now that we've issued several apologies, including a personal one from Nathan Power, are we going to hear an apology for KU for their actions? I just saw a statement saying their coach didn't do anything wrong. That wouldn't fly with Mama Tonya.
Anytime my brother (goes to KU) and I got in a fight as kids, our mom would make us both apologize. It didn't matter who won the fight or who started it (I always won), it just mattered to her that since we are brothers and equals that we got along and both apologized. My older step-brother (went to Mizzou) usually stayed out of things because he said picking on my little brother wouldn't be a fair fight. They don't really talk anymore.
I don't need an apology to move on from this. I just think it's the right thing for KU athletics to do since we are, like my littlest brother and I, brothers and equals.
-
of course little bro won't apologize after they just got their asses handed to them, that's human nature
-
not holding my breath. i doubt the ku people even know how to write.

Dear K-State:
The University of Kansas would like to apologize for not assisting with the crowd control efforts Monday night. In spite of the many times your students threw things on the court and at our players over the years, we were able to calm the masses by beating you on your home court in 2013, 2012, 2010, 2009, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2001, 2000, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996, 1995, 1994, 1993, 1992, 1991, 1990, 1989, 1988, 1987, 1986, 1985, and 1984, including the last 5 games at Ahearn. We are glad that K-State fans no longer throw bananas at our African American players or go out on the court next to them in gorilla costumes during pregame stretches. We understand you can only take baby steps, and that blind-siding our players, chanting "**** KU" on national television, and jumping into our group of players with both middle fingers flying is a logical next step for you. However, we will do more in the future to get back into the traditional mode of beating you year after year in your building to avoid the higher potential for your administration and fans to **** it up as you do when you win on such rare occasion. Congratulations for the win and we wish you the best in your endeavor to earn a bid to the CBI.
Sincerely,
Big Brother

BMW tweeted to the university president of Kansas State and told him his university was "a joke" and called him a "clown boy" because a fan bumped jamari. He's lost his damn mind.

Apology accepted.
Now, when does the butthurt stop?
Gonna win 'em all!

That didn't feel sincere.

bumped? deliberately running over to someone and hitting them isn't a bump, and if you watch the video he was heading straight for Perry Ellis next but somebody grabbed the dumbass before he could cheap shot him in the back. Traylor didn't get hurt but he could have easily just took a weird stumble because he wasn't expecting it and gotten a torn up knee or something like that. anyway, question for kstate fans...how mad would you be if after he hit Traylor, Traylor turned around and knocked him out? you would be calling for his head.

The apology was a non-apology and included a bunch of subtle digs at KU. Your entire university, from the University President to chicken wing boy, have a huge inferiority complex when it comes to KU, and the entire country got to see it on full display.

That would actually be the only instance where I'd feel bad for traylor.
Gonna win 'em all!
-
Well Traylor does have a history of being a violent thug, so I'd say we got pretty lucky, Landon.

he got as many battery charges against him as traylor did (1 less point tho).

Big Brother
sorry but ksu is 6-1 vs ku in major college sports this year (football being worth 5 basketball wins). but maybe there will be a rematch in the tourney and ku can narrow that gap.

KU fans complaining about the banana incident from 1978 grows tiresome. How quickly they forget it was a merely a response to the antics orchestrated by ku students a few weeks before. From the February 25, 1983 LJ World:
"In January 1978, KU fans at Allen Fieldhouse tossed hot dogs onto the court when flashy Wildcat Curtis Redding was introduced, as an indication of his gregarious on-court manner. . . . The Cat fans responded in kind the following month, tossing more than 100 bananas onto the court when Jayhawk Donnie Von Moore was introduced in front of a Manhattan crowd."

i don't get the "Big Brother" thing. if you're born later and you're smaller, it's like double not true
-
maybe it's an opposite day thing, like "Little John" was a great big bear in that disney movie
-
Sounds like KSU stopped being so racist before I was born, so thankfully I don't have to associate myself with any of that banana business.
-
or is Big Brother a reference to 1984? that is the last year he mentioned in his apology. :horrorsurprise:
-
anyway, question for kstate fans...how mad would you be if after he hit Traylor, Traylor turned around and knocked him out? you would be calling for his head.
[/quote]
Don't worry about how K-State fans would react to that hypothetical. If that event actually occurred, KU should react by immediately placing Traylor on football scholarship.
-
How long ago was it when KU players asked Clemente for his "green card"?
-
how long ago was it when KU fans made Frank mowing shirts?

yeah. I mean, if a story like this happened outside the Big XII I probably would never even know about it. But then again I don't watch Around the Horn so......
-
- brandon green throws a ball and hits k-state coed in the shoulder before the game, causing a contusion.
- kelly oubre intentionally trips Marcus Foster almost separating his shoulder.
- oubre also intentionally throws elbow into Nino Williams face, slightly dislocating his jaw and bloodying lip.
- KU bench players intentionally trip Nigel Johnson after a made 3 pointer, skinny his knee.
all this hullabaloo is a ploy from Massa Self to keep the attention off how undisciplined and embarrassing his team is. and KU fans are so sad, they feel like if they can win the argument on courtstorming (no injuries involved), they can somehow forget they got their ass kicked by the worst K-State team in a decade.
-
Also, the Lawrentucky 'billies evidently mistook the parking lot as a place to empty out all the trash from their jalopies
-
Is Townsend the one witha drug crime conviction?
Negative. That pillar of society comes off his two-week suspension this weekend.
Townsend is the one who gave court-side tickets to a porn star a few years ago. Seriously have to start questioning this guys decision-making ability. He must have pics of Self and BGL in some sort of 50 Shades of Grey situation.
At what point do KU people stop questioning the behavior of a 20-year-old college kid and start questioning the behavior of the basketball program's leadership.

Ok, listen. We threw bananas in 1978 because we thought he looked like a monkey, which, sure, might seem super racist but actually we were so not racist that we didn't even know about the whole black people monkey thing and just wanted to have a little fun with our friend Donnie Von Moore who was super cool about it because he knew it wasn't a race thing and was hungry anyways and everyone slapped fives afterwards. If we knew the internet was going to be invented and this would be used as ammunition on something called a message board 35 years later we probably never would of done it but what can you do, different times.
-
Rumblings that the AD received a fruit basket and a handwritten "sorry" note from Mr. Townsend regarding his actions Monday evening.
-
Of course, the bananas aimed at Von Moore were no laughing matter. “It ticked us off,” Von Moore said, “because at first we thought it had some racial connotations. They were basically calling us gorillas. Later they said we threw hot dogs so they threw bananas. It’s just food. We beat them, so that’s what mattered.”
Von Moore, who played at KU from 1974-78, pointed out the KU-KSU games were much bigger than the KU-Missouri games at that time. “It’s because the fans hated each other so much,” Von Moore said of games between “Snob Hill” and “Silo Tech.” “It was a rivalry where I guess they were depicted as these farm, country, backwoods types, and we were considered the snobs, I guess, because we were close to Kansas City. KU was the snobby part of the state. K-State was the agricultural school. They actually had a farm on their campus. It was the big thing with the two groups. With Missouri, it went all the way back to the damn war. “But people didn’t sleep out for Missouri. They camped for K-State for days.”

All of you trying to justify the banana throwing need to knock it the eff off. I don't care if KU threw nooses, watermelon, clan hoods, and fried chicken, throwing bananas at that dude was 100% wrong; we'd be better off dropping it.
If you have such a hardo for KU that you must address the racism, do what other posters have done itt and point out this happened before 90% of posters on this blog was born and point out the several cases of KU being racist this decade.

Pretty sure he was just quoting an article where they interviewed one of the players involved, and then he said the KSU rivalry was bigger than the MU one :dunno: :ck: :runaway:

The flippant attitude shown toward Townsend makes me think that they have seen this out of him before. Makes you wonder how many victims lay in his wake. Sad really.

Oh, okay Winters. I mean it totally makes sense to say that less than half of someone's last name is a great name.
-
Hey guys I'm going to get in touch with Andy Van Slyke just to tell him Van is a great name and then watch his confused reaction!

this is really weird, brock. can we move on?

I too am enraged by the lack of class and grace shown by Brock "Sewage Brain" Landers. Therefore in order to restore class and order we must expose all of his personal details and get him fired from his job and harass his family.

If I was forced to guess, like gun to my head absolutely forced to guess, I believe what Winters was trying to say was "Wow, I realize it's not HIS first name, but if "Von" was someone's first name, they would probably be a huge stud." Like I said, that's just my guess.

I believe that "Von" is a German preposition meaning "of" or "from", usually a nobility particle - which means when used in a name it denotes nobility. So I think that what Winters was saying was that if Von is used in a name that person must have noble blood which is why it would be a great name...

I am absolutely rough ridin' stunned nothing more has come of Townsend choking that kid. Not because it was the most violent thing about the whole court storming incident, not because he's an adult and coach who should know better, not because of the fact he's a known lowlife, scumbag piece of human excrement, but because of the pathetically juvenile, deliberately dishonest, outrageous press release the kuad put out.
It was one of the most unprofessional, unreasonable and unnecessary things I've ever seen. What in the eff?

How many years will the KU faithful piss and moan about what "could have" happened during that court storming, or the less-than-admirable response from Self?

Two stunning events, the violent behavior from Townsend and the sophomoric and amateurish press release from kuad, have essentially gone unreported. Meanwhile, a manhunt for a 19 year old boy because he shoved a basketball player.
It's like we're living in an alternate universe.
