It doesn't get worse then being bested by them in anything- Hoops, Football, academics, tug-o-war, etc. Well except Soil Judging.
We should never let them best us in anything. I'm ashamed.

I enjoy how the squawk tweeted at the K-State Pres., like she's some authority figure to handle problems and uses the term, "assaulted," in such a determined manor.

Seff is a master at deflecting his fans -- rather than being upset a how the team played or the strategy, they're only talking about court storming.

OMG my facebook KU friends are going insane.
did you watch the video? This kid went out of his way to come up behind and jump into the KU player. He's fortunate the player didn't retaliate.

came across this video...had to watch it a few times. Supposedly it's a KU assistant putting the kid in a headlock for giving his players the finger.

I think those calls are already being made . Personally, I think it should be banned. I understand wanting to celebrate but there's too much risk to innocent bystanders. SEC already bans it and I think it would be wise for the Big 12 to follow suit.

Looks like an all out assault to me! lol give me a break. A KU football player has rape charges against him and no one bats an eye, but as soon as a student runs into a player everyone loses their mind.

I just don't want anyone to get hurt -- KU kid, KState kid, Self, Squeaky, no one. No one should get hurt at a college basketball game. Except anyone from Mizzou.

They tear down the goalposts and toss them in Potters Retention Cesspool it's all good natured fun, slaps on the back, copious pictures loaded to Icloud and stories to be recounted over cold cans of Bud and Miller Light and bad Lawrence pizza.

So in the last 5 years I've become a bigger KU fan than I was before. I've learned the history behind the basketball program, I've seen a lot of amazing players come and go, and I've gained a ton of respect for Bill Self. Last night watching the game I said they will storm the court if they win.....why don't we ever do that. Greg and Cooper said because we have class. We have Bill Self. We don't score in the last minute if we are way ahead because that's just embarrassing the other team, we don't do the rock chalk chant with more than a minute to go because that would be disrespectful. We don't storm the court because it's a classless act. We lose so many players a year because they go to the draft. We start over from scratch pretty much every year and yet we are consistently in the top 10. We win the Big 12. We are class, we are KU. We don't need to storm the court or tell the other team to F off because we know who we are and we are class.
Pretty sure everyone associated with this quote has never set foot on the campus in Lawrence.

I just commented on a post on FB in which K-State was criticized for "...piping in jock jams.." to the game (Sandstorm). The post detailed how KU never does that, because they don't need to with the awe inspiring (and urine smelling) atmosphere in AFH. After mentioning how sad ACDC was going to be to hear this, they conceded that "..sometimes they play Thunder..."

This is probably the best idea I've heard in a long time. And, that dude that chicken-winged last night needs to do an encore next November on some KU player.

I was totally cool with the court storming until I saw this. Kind of takes away from a GREAT effort on K States part and now all the news channels aren't even talking about the win. Just shot yourselves in the foot. Sad but true. I am not a sore loser, and was actually defending the kids storming the floor. Hell when you only win 4 or 53 or something like that I would storm the court too! But shoving a coach into the table, purposely ramming into a player of the opposing team. I would not want my school to have this kind of press.

we don't do the rock chalk chant with more than a minute to go because that would be disrespectful.
The first one is patently false. The second one is just stupid. Taunting the opposing team is classless with 90 seconds to go, but perfectly fine with 50 seconds?
-
They don't rush the court, but they did
they don't taunt, but they did
they don't swear, but they did
I'm with clams, the vast majority of jayhawk fans aren't mad about getting beat and court stormed. They know they do exactly the same thing. It's the weirdos on social media who don't know that they do everything just like any other fanbase.
-
In their defense, KU has so many t-shirt fans that haven't been to an actual game at AFH that maybe they don't actually know what happens in AFH. Perception is reality.

he must have adopted KU when his alma matter's coach was covering up the murder of one of its players by another one of its players

yup. stereotypical baylor grad. tits, tits, and more tits.

Jason King is a Baylor fan, but yes, as we've established here, everyone is just out to get poor lil' ol' K-State. It's just one big conspiracy against a bunch of friendly, non-violent, fun-loving folks from the great state of Kansas.

King has been a huge ku fanboy for years. Don't bring that idiotic Phogistan narrative in here. You have absolutely no original thoughts.
Okay, Kevin Kietzman.

For the most part, you all seem like a bunch of fun-loving, good people (until KU comes to town - then it's like a reenactment from the movie "The Purge").

What else should we ban that isn't dangerous in preparation for the inevitable "tragedy"?

I read all of these posts by beems and on an anecdotal level it reminds me of attending ku vs K-State games of various types in Lawrence over the years. The anger, the rage, the hate in the stands from ku people towards K-State was in a few words; very real and a little scary. But that's just my perception.
In your world, when 50 KU fans rush the field vs. Iowa State, it's the equivalent of 9/11. When K-State fans make national headlines for getting physical with KU's players and coaches, it's just a national conspiracy against poor lil' ol' K-State. Sad, really.

Beems I haven't seen you address the assistant coach headlockgate deal. (I'm pretty lazy, maybe you have) Would appreciate your thoughts on it. TIA
-
Every fan base has their assholes. Ignorant to say otherwise. I recall going to the 2010 KU vs K-State football game in Lawrence and a handful of KU students were throwing things at my 60 year old, sober father in-law. One girl even came up to him in the stands and tried to barf on him. Thankfully it cleared out after the 1st quarter. I don't relate that group of people to KU fans as a whole, cause I've met some really nice ones.
I would hope a fan base would not get wrapped up with a couple (possibly drunk) students and categorized as a terrorist organization. Unfortunately that has now happened. The subject at hand from media is court storming, not K-State fans storming as ISIS terrorists.

Yep, K-State wins without the court rush and we're out of the news by the 10 AM broadcast of SportsCenter.

Honestly walking to Memorial down the hill is the worst experience I have had at an opposing teams stadium. The angry, homophobic, degrading things that a 13 year old SdK was subject to was disgusting.

Your hyperbole only proves (again) that you're just a butthurt little ku fanboy who can't tolerate the fact that K-State beat ku. Not in a million years would I ever compare tearing down the goalposts to something like 9-11, or consider any fanbase whose only "sin" was having a slightly too vigorous court rush to ISIS. That's all on you, butthurt little ku fanboy . . . and it's hilarious.
But it wasn't just 50 people, go look at the videos that ku fans, who quite clearly enjoyed every second of it posted to the Internet. What I am pointing out, quite clearly is that ku people all laugh and think its fun when ku fans rush the field/court, but if anybody else does it, particularly if it's at ku's expense . . . total meltdown. Over the years ku fans have stormed the football field while personnel on the visiting team was still on the field and rushed the goalposts, tearing them down and tossing them in the lake. I bet we'd find little fanboy Ben out there on the field in some of those pictures, if we had them. It's highly unlikely that a 300 pound OL is going to whine and cry like a little girl if some 175lb ku fratboy noob bumped into him.
Pffffffffffttttttttttt.... Oklahoma State and West Virginia both stormed the court when they beat KU, and somehow, there wasn't any national controversy or leading story on ESPN's Outside the Lines. Maryland fans stormed the court vs. Wisconsin last night, and there isn't a single peep about it today. Why is that?
-
IMO WVU fans are more like Pol Pot.
BTW, one butthurt girl/KU grad I've known and been pretty good friends with for over 10 years defriended me because I decided to jump into a long discussion about how court storming is super unclassy and dangerous while rushing a football field against 2-7 Iowa State somehow isn't either of those things.

Zero sympathy for this kid. Having his life plastered all over the internet is a consequence of your actions. The picture of him chicken winging Jamari wont be leaving the internet anytime soon. He's going to have to live with that for the rest of his life. Just like KK having murdered those hookers. That guy will never live down that fateful night with the male transvestite prostitutes.
Future employers around town may remember Nathan Power from Lenexa, KS and member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity as the "KSU Court Storming moron," and yes it could hurt his chances at future employment. That's the type of things kids are warned about DAILY. His life is forever tied to that stupidity.
Plenty of people have lost jobs for saying/doing stupid stuff online. Plenty of people have been denied employment for stupid things they've done online. This kid did something epically stupid on national television and people were able to see it online. That is his problem. Not mine.

Yes, all of those media members K-State fans have beef with.
I read three threads on the phog, one of them had a picture of the daughter of a radio host and the other had literally dozens of posts complaining about one of the best analysts in college basketball because he's apparently an OU fan.

I think Jason King does a lot of good work, but back in the day he did a lot of ku fluff pieces that looked like they were pretty much written by the ku SID's office. He's done maybe 3 or 4 pieces on ku that might be construed as hard hitting, with the slush fund/money laundering/how did the not end up on probation piece probably being the hardest hitting. That said, he gets instantly butthurt about almost all things related to ku . . . this is why we make fun of him.
I really like him since he went to BR. He kinda stole the Adrien Payne story but it needed to be told again, the Kamala story was amazing. All of this makes his KU fanboiness and his hyper-sensitivity to it really disappointing. His K-State tshirt tweet is on page one of the phog playbook, and his subsequent retweets of the obvious phog poster tweets were completely unprovoked, no K-Stater gave two shits about Jason King on Monday night until he started acting like doc nasmith.

Maybe should go in the facebook/ hometown thread
My only issue with storming the court, other than it being completely classless, is safety of players & coaches for both teams. While we haven't had any serious injuries that I'm aware of, there certainly is that potential. One of these days some cockbag is going to shank a bitch during one of these court stormings and all Hell will rain down on college sports. It'll be some player with gang connections or involved in or refusal to be involved in point shaving, and some muscle placed in with fans with pull a blade and shank a player. Then we'll have a dead player and that'll be the end of any fans getting on the court or a field ever again.
Frankly I'm surprised something like that hasn't happened already; but then again I once read a blog post claiming that due to refusing to throw a game to cover a gambling debt, the La Cosa Nostra murdered Hank Gathers with a Comino Saber Dart and it was covered up by the FBI.

With another Jayhawk football season going quickly down the tank, the Sunflower Showdown arrived once again that November Saturday. The KU student body's only concern was simple..ruining KSU's march to a College Football Playoff berth, not their own improvement under new coach David Beaty. From the start, everybody was amped. Many began pregaming all morning and afternoon on Mass. St while others closer to Memorial Stadium got fouled up in their front yards. "This is the one" everyone said. "We haven't been to a game all year but we're going because this is KState" one other coed repeated. For some unknown reason ESPN even showed up due to a slow weekend in Top 25 matchups, so the KU nation was amped to show America how "crazy and devoted" they really were to their team. The game started off about how everyone figured it would, Snyder was controlling the clock and seemed to be in control throughout much of the first half, although KU seemed to be connecting on every pass in their new spread offense. KU fans were so prepared the even made signs that said "I hope Snyder dies soon" and "You can't spell cocKSUcker without KSU. Nobody thought anything about it, after all every student section does things like that, many thought. Towards the end of the third quarter, things started to take a 180 degree turn. Dropped passes, a fumble, and 3 straight defensive breakdowns on third down sent KSU into a miserable nosedive. A 80 yard TD bomb for KU with 2:00 left from the backup quarterback sealed the deal. KU was going to win this. The air was electric. The few student stadium gameday assistance ushers along the bottom of the aisles grinned and couldn't hardly contain themselves. The goalposts were going in Potter Lake and everybody was going to get hammered. KSU made one last attempt at a 17 lateral running play, and it was over. LHC Bill Snyder, true to form, started to undo his headset, and proceed to go shake hands with the KU staff like the true gentleman he was. He never made it. A wave of 6,000 student section members, and even possibly a tuba player from the band leaped over the railing directly behind the KSU sideline. Nobody even tried to go around the players, they were bent on informing them on who really was "number 1". Snyder turned around just in time to slip and fall next to what was usually the bench for the offensive lineman. He did the only thing possible and assumed the fetal position while several KU fraternity members hovered over him with their middle fingers, calling him everything but a white man. Quickly, Snyder's son Sean and assistant Dana Dimel came to try to get some students back even having to put one in a headlock, much to the disgust of the remaining KU student body in the stands shouting various obscenities about KState. Seemingly lost in the pandemonium, fullback Glenn Gronkowski even got suckerpunched by some wormy looking law major. Somehow he kept his cool. That night social media lit up. KSU fans were pissed, much to the amusement of the KU nation who said they were just "butthurt" that KU had ruined their season and stormed the field. ?#?mirrored? ?#?switchshoes

well i wasnt originally gonna read all that, the time, you know. i read what katdaddy wrote and i decided to read this essay. i truly, like deep deep down, believe this is how butthurt every tshirt/hawk fan across the country feels right now. i mean this is their sport, their superbowl, their time to prove they provide some contribution to the big 12. to have all of that ripped away and to see their reaction when they are again put in their place is just incredible.

Currie must be on some sort of drugs ?K State, does not compare to the University of Kansas. We turn out the finest of Students , from our Law School, Medical School , etc.
K State , just look at the Juco transfers they enroll in their football program .
Its just harder to get into KU, no question about it .
Currie you should resign immediately, Your behavior is not acceptable .?

Wow K-State, you need to be searching for a new Athletic Director. First Currie says the reason you made fools of yourselves storming the court over a conference game win is because you used to be number #2 in the State, but you aren't anymore. Then he says in the future it will be the student's decision whether they storm the court or not. At the game the mob mentality started with the "Sand Storm" and F&%$ KU. Someone with some sense should stop this. I remember KU students doing the same thing 20 some years ago in Allen Field House. Roy Williams stepped out onto the court, held up his hand to signal stop, and it NEVER happened again. At KU we are winners so we have no need to humiliate others. oscar Webber, Kirk Schulz, April Mason, are you really going to let 18-22 year old student's decide K-State's character? I thought you were all wiser than this.?

i had never heard the term "chicken wing" used in the context that Self did, prior to this incident.
I LOVE it. It's really fun to say.
I have to tip my cap to Bill Self,
he is a real trend setter!

I mean, you try to be TSC, but thin-skinned, insecure nature of KU fans, at least on the internet, just becomes comical after awhile. Give the basketball program its due. They're one of the best, most tradition rich, bball programs in the country, but the insecurity and butthurt reach maximum levels at even the smallest conceivable slight.
Even WSU getting Gameday before the ESPN crew rolls to Lawrence has them in an uproar. It's weird.
-
They're very insecure about a fine product. Why else would they claim Helms Titles as National Championships?
-
Ku is very concerned about the whole self title of flagship uni. I seriously received a phone survey about two yrs ago that had three questions. One was "do you consider ku the flagship uni of ks". The other two were if I attended ku or have been to a ku game. How insecure are you if you are phone polling over such insignificance? A lot.

Can we throw some money down and mail Jason king a panoramic from goEMAW I'm lieu of a shirt/dvd?
-
Per wiki, kstate is the flagship of the Kansas naval university fleet. Ahoy maties!
-
Was just thinking about how lol it would be if KState somehow made it to the NCAA tournament since most of the butthurt KU posts have digs about us not making it. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but that would be a huge payoff for me.

The tournament is crazy boring and no one really watches it anymore. It's dying a slow death

And that's not even factoring in the proposed MTD event.
