Honestly if I were assessing blame I would put the students behind the players for running directly to that score table and to the green shirts because, what in the hell took them so long? They didn't even get the K-State half of the floor protected and they were standing right there.

I did notice a group of green shirts standing on the charge circle under our goal, though. They were the only security actually where they were supposed to be. Basically every ku fan I interacted with tonight on twitter kept using "I" "we" "our" when describing how many games/conference titles/national titles ku has won over the years. We beat KU in back to back years for the first time since I was 8 years old. I'm nearly 40 now. We aren't at a "act like you've been there" point yet. I have no problem with rushing the court, maybe we'll beat them again next year and the next and stop which would be cool, but we are far from that point right now.
And we'll just continue validating every KU fan that sees us as little brother, treating this game as our super bowl. How many court storming will it take for us to believe that we can and should be good enough to beat these guys at home? We were in the freakin elite 8 a few years ago and shared the title 2 years ago. And we're still acting like that win was the product of devine intervention.
If you want to take history into perspective, we ought to be storming the field after football victories as well.

I don't care what KU fans think about me or K-State and I never have really. I don't mind if the students want to have fun and I don't think it sends any message besides them enjoying the win and that we haven't beaten KU that often. Nobody in this league has.

Over the years, I’ve heard K-State fans whine about how Bill Self recruits thugs to Kansas and Jamari Traylor hasn’t escaped that label by Wildcat fans.
Last night, KSU won their National Championship by beating KU. The win will look good on their NIT resume so it was time to celebrate. I’m sure a DVD and T-shirt will be available later today.
And like every other school that has beaten KU, the fans stormed the court. But this was not your typical court storming. This got ugly and a “celebration” turned into a cheap shot contest.
Once the final buzzer hit zero, the fans stormed the court and it got so bad that Bill Self got pinned to the scorers table. But even worse was the cheap shot that Jamari Traylor received as he was leaving the court.

Nobody outside of Perry Ellis or Kelly Oubre played that well but I’d like to go ahead and give the game ball to Jamari Traylor. As you can see, the coward that popped Jamari Traylor in the back was probably a foot smaller than Traylor and probably weighed as much as one of Traylor’s biceps. It would’ve been easy for Traylor to retaliate, especially after a frustrating loss.
But nope. Traylor was the bigger man and walked away. Thankfully, Assistant Coach Kurtis Townsend witnessed the attack and promptly put the idiot in a head lock. Nice work Coach!
KSU fans have been quick to point out that KU fans rushed the field after we beat Iowa State this year. And yes, I wasn’t a big fan of storming the field but you know, KU fans didn’t take cheap shots at ISU players. Additionally, football players are huge men with pads and helmets on, not to mention a 100 yard field to escape.
On a small basketball court, KU players and coaches diodn’t have any room to escape and something needs to be done before something tragic happens. Security measures need to beef up next year when KU goes to Manhattan but I seriously doubt it.
Remember, this is the same administration that told their racist students to “tone down” the derogatory comments on a student message board when their basketball players were protesting police brutality. Tone it down, huh? How about stop it completely?!
Regardless of the disappointing outcome, I was proud of the way our players handled themselves after the game. It must’ve been tough to hold back from cheap shots by K-State student thugs.

1. why we are still storming the court;
2. why storming the court isn't incredibly losery/little brothery/embarrassing.
We have a losing record, we are merely 5 years removed from being a dog crap program, and our coach was previously fired for failing at a high major.
We ARE a losery little brother to KU. eff, we won on that floor for only the 4th time ever. Plus, we beat a top 10 team.
We have a LONG way to go before we should be embarrassed by court storming.
This is precisely the point. every time our fans storm the court, they re-validate and confirm the shittiness of our program and the fact that we are the losery little brother to KU. this is my point. I want to forget those days. I want to black out Wooly/Asbury.
and to the guy who says he doesn't use the terms "I" and "we" and "us" when talking about our programs, I'm assuming you're a liar. by virtue of the fact that you're BBSing on an internet message board about the very subject that you're saying you don't have a personal interest in. we all do it. KU fans are no different than KSU fans.
The Iowa State players looked so stupid at the end of their game against KU when they ran to the student section with their palms up telling the students not to come on the court. It looked so contrived and took the spontaneity out of what should have been a fun moment.

Read an ESPN comment from someone claiming to have worked security at Bramlage. The word is that the management was very inflexible with hours and vacation so a lot of the experienced guys quit. This left an inexperienced staff on the floor who didn't know what they were doing. I definitely remember them protecting the opposing bench at last years storming.Workers are concerned about hours and vacation? You're a freaking part-time worker who stands in the aisles during events. If this is your idea of full-time employment, you are in trouble.

Forcing a non-court storming is worse, IMO. For example, if somehow we were really good next year and beat ku by 12 as a ranked team for the second year in a row, we naturally wouldn't storm the court. And that would be fine.
I bet we still would. We've beaten them two out of the last three times. It's time to take KU off the pedestal. They don't deserve it.

It didn't seem that egregious in real time, the kid just kept moving on, he didn't try and confront him. More of a mosh pit type thing. The KU guy barely moved and just sort of walked off.

It just seems like we got a bunch of self rightness uppity up posting fans around here. JFC, we just beat the number 8th ranked team in America, and we been on a losing streak, and they think we should act like nothing happened. IDIOTS, IT'S TIME TO ENJOY AND HAVE FUN!!!We beat KU in back to back years for the first time since I was 8 years old. I'm nearly 40 now. We aren't at a "act like you've been there" point yet. I have no problem with rushing the court, maybe we'll beat them again next year and the next and stop which would be cool, but we are far from that point right now.
And we'll just continue validating every KU fan that sees us as little brother, treating this game as our super bowl. How many court storming will it take for us to believe that we can and should be good enough to beat these guys at home? We were in the freakin elite 8 a few years ago and shared the title 2 years ago. And we're still acting like that win was the product of devine intervention.
If you want to take history into perspective, we ought to be storming the field after football victories as well.
eff, we were terrible for 2 decades but KUs equal fire the rest of our history. Have some pride.
I don't care what KU fans think about me or K-State and I never have really. I don't mind if the students want to have fun and I don't think it sends any message besides them enjoying the win and that we haven't beaten KU that often. Nobody in this league has.

Secondly, drop the sanctimonious bullshit and remember what you were like as a 19 or 20 year old kid. It's security's job to get ku off the floor safely. That's how things need to be handled better. The idea that 6k amped up students should be expected to act "The Wildcat Way" or that they should "act like we've been there" is plain stupid and flies in the face of all historical evidence that we have about the behavior of 19 and 20 year old kids. And, in reality, everyone is rough ridin' ok.
Finally, I am for anything that makes Bill Self and friends absolutely hate us and absolutely hate coming to play in the OOD. If it takes pinning Bill up against the scorers table every time we beat them, then I'm all for that.
