I'm hearing Nigel will transfer, that the coaching staff has decided he's not major conference quality, and they're going to help him land softly somewhere else. Anyone hearing similar?

I thought so too. Funny thing is, I heard that rumor early in the WVU game. I kinda hope they keep Nigel, but this does make me wonder if he's just not happy with the coaching staff or fitting in with the players...maybe he wants to be closer to home?

I think oscar is quite capable of this kind of leak. He's oscar, after all.

Nigel strikes me as having more talent than he's showing, almost like he's withholding his desire to compete out of resentment or something. Jevon, on the other hand, I feel like is playing right in line with his potential :eek:

FWIW, I heard this from an EMAW who wouldn't just say this because some hayseed at the bar was spouting off.
If this does materialize, I kinda hope Nigel goes to SIU and learns from the great Anthony Beane, plays oscar in a future NIT battle, and dominates. Then we fire oscar.

I think so too. He was a volume scorer in high school, whereas Jevon has always been pass-first (and we've seen how well that's turning out). Still not sure either one deserves a roster spot next year, tho.

Very sad to realize that the coaches have just now determined that one of our best players is not major conference quality. :frown:

Sometimes it comes back to basics, like who is good at throwing ball through the hoop. I think coaches can lose sight of that because they work on individual sets and plays etc during practice. They don't keep score in practice. Jevon has superior ability to Nigel in things that are likely to show up in practice. But Nigel can shoot and score. Teams have to defend us differently when he is in.
I will admit that I have been enamored with Jevon's quickness and defense. But he just can't shoot. And probably never will. I think we go with Nigel. Jevon can be our defense/injury guy when Nigel is cramping or throwing up.

Random, but talked to a walk-on at the Ville tonight who said he expects 3 of Marcus/Edwards, Nigel, and Tre to transfer. Yet, Marcus says that neither him nor Wes or transferring. I hate all the speculation, but I will be happy if 2/3 of Marcus, Wes, Nigel stay...

Hopefully Tre does. Great looking shot but he's in a valuable scholarship spot. I won't miss Edwards either. How many do we have to oscar in order to get all of Brown, Williams, Wade, and (hopefully) Cobb? 1 or 2?

If there was a transfer lottery, Jevon's number was just drawn.

I can only hope that last night made oscar realize how valuable Nigel will be going forward. Start him and play him a majority of the rest of the games and hopefully that will leave a good enough impression to keep him around.

Yeah, I'm thinking if oscar keeps this group together, next year might alright. If everyone chooses to stay, buy in should be better.

meh, enjoy these players and moments of adorableness we saw last night for just a few more games. The writing is on the wall- players are going to leave and you shouldn't be surprised when they're players you've grown to kind of like. Fittingly, all the ones that drive you nuts will probably end up staying
