I like the idea of having all 10 games on one day...more exposure for the series. The way it is set up now it kind of gets lost.

Hopefully next year we can host SC  :crossfingers:

Here's the thing about the SEC, it blows. Only teams even mildly interesting are Florida, Kentucky, and South Carolina (only because of Frank). Would rather play Pac 12 teams.

So the only half way decent non-con game in the fOOD will be after conference play starts. Awesome.

No one seems interested in basketball until football is over anyways. Probably a smart move from an attendance standpoint.

So will we have to move the start of conference play up to compensate? Rather than play OSU on Jan 4th or whatever, we'd play them on Dec 30th instead? I'm not sure I like that. If our bowl game is going to interfere with a Bball game, I would definitely rather it be a noncon game that gets ignored by the fanbase.

In theory, more exposure and cohesion because it is happening on the same day. In practice, no one cares about SEC basketball so the theory doesn't matter.

Colorado State in Wichita.

Other known games on K-State’s 2015-16 schedule include road trips to Texas A&M and Georgia and two games in the CBE Classic, which includes Missouri, North Carolina and Northwestern, at Sprint Center.

CSU is having a pretty decent season (19-3) but their 3 leading scorers are seniors. Will be fun to play Eustachy again.

The SEC/Big 12 games are usually paired based on projections. Getting paired with SC or Mizzou would be a slap in the face. Ole Miss or Tenn again seem more probable. LSU is another possibility.

First off settle down there buddy, second off there is zero chance they put the two headliners against each other in the first game, so it's Mizzou or Northwestern. So if you want to make an argument you want Northwestern over Mizzou okay, but you didn't and you're a clown.

Everyone's memory of 59-55 is Wooly's shining moment in Lawrence and its really great.

But I still have memories of Wooly's 59-55 embarrassment in 2002 against the purple Wildcats and the king of SLTHs in the OOD.

The best first night match ups are UNC vs NW (Roy vs. former Duke asst Collins) at 6pm and K-State vs Mizzou (Big 6/7/8/12 rivalry) at 8:30pm. Obviously K-State and UNC need to be on opposite sides of the bracket in order to create a better championship game.

The nonconference portion of Kansas State’s basketball schedule for the 2015-16 season is set, Wildcats coach oscar Weber said Wednesday, and a game against St. Louis at Bramlage Coliseum will highlight the unannounced home slate.

The game, which will be played in late December, will start a home-and-home series with the Billikens. The return game will be played at St. Louis the following season.

“We wanted a nice home game around Christmas time, which we have had, and we thought they were a good opponent for that,” Weber told the Eagle during an interview at the Wichita Catbackers banquet.

The return game will also allow D.J. Johnson, a St. Louis native, to play in his hometown as a senior.

“He will get to go home,” Weber said. “That was one of the big reasons for that.”

St. Louis, of the Atlantic 10 Conference, is coming off a down season in which it went 11-21. Previously, it made three straight NCAA Tournaments.

The rest of K-State’s nonconference schedule will feature unannounced games against Columbia, Maryland-Eastern Shore, South Dakota, South Carolina State, Coppin State and North Dakota.

The Wildcats will also play previously announced games against Mississippi (at home), Missouri/Northwestern/North Carolina (CBE Classic), Colorado State (Wichita) as well as road games against Texas A&M and Georgia.

K-State is expected to officially announce the schedule later this week, Weber said.

SLU, Ole Miss, CSU, UGA and 2 of UNC/NW/MU is pretty decent. I think Columbia is supposed to be Harvard good.

Probably top3 noncon schedule for the big 12 tards.  UT usually schedules decent and ku usually has one hard game and then loads up on home games against 50-100 rpi teams to make their schedule psuedo-hard.

I would include the road trip to A&M in your list of respectable games. Our noncon slate is really pretty impressive. I expect a minimum of five losses. The two road games at UGA and A&M, two of the three neutral site games, and at least one home game.

Another way to look at it is that we have had some success against the highly ranked teams on Big Monday. Some may not like that. KU and Texas are supposed to win all of those. Keeps the network happy.
That and we probably are being punished for the court storming last year.  :)

You wouldn't if it wasn't K-State. The non-con schedule is just as difficult if not more than last season, of course the conference schedule is of course the same. I don't have to tell you about all the players we lost and the fact that there is little to no expectations from their replacements. There is no basketball explanation to be had that can rationally lead to improvement. We will be picked either 9th or 10th in the conference (Hey there Tech!) Do you also think KU football will win more games this season than last?

15 wins is not that hard.  there are six scheduled wins.  go 9-17 in the remaining games (more than 50% of which are at home/semi-home) and you're at 15 wins.  a few of those games will be against top 25ish teams, but there are a lot against mediocre teams.  they don't have to be a good team to win 15+.

Ok, I will put my wallies on public arena of goEMAW ridiicule.  I believe we have the potential to to ram a bag of purple bird seed up jaysnobz at least once, we will beat Howdy Doody Ol' Hounddog Roy, and only loose 2 non con since it is a TCU schedule.  I think about 500 in the league is about right.  With oscar I don't have confidence any more, but if the newcomers buy in then watch out.  Hopefully Twocoaches doesn't mess them up for oscar - let Chet be the deface bench coach.

the only real disagreement we have is texas southern - columbia and the pitt - st louis games.
texas southern was legit last year making it to the 2nd round of the tourney. columbia was and is booty.
pitt went 8-10 in the acc last season w/ quality wins over teams that stl would never win - UNC, SU, ND.  again, i'll always defer to a big east/ACC team in pitt over st louis.  pitt had quality youth. st louis has/had mo valley.

and LBS would run mu out of the gym, so i guess i don't agree with that one either.

i don't know, seems to me like a much tougher schedule last year.

Yeah, Columbia's RPI at the end of the year last year was roughly 100 places worse than Texas Southern. There is no perfect way to compare the schedules in August. If you use the last RPI from last season, both schedules have the same number of teams that are top 100 in the RPI 5, the 2014-15 has 6 teams in the bottom 100 of the RPI while the 2015-16 has 5 teams in the bottom 100 of the RPI.

None of this is particularly relevant other than we can't really say that Weber scheduled more wins this season than last.

agreed, the discussion should be/is about the roster.
while i think last year's schedule was stronger than this year's, i also believe that last year's roster was good enough to handle it in a way that the majority of us would consider a success.  factor in oscar and what happened with the roster and we saw the results.

this reason that year's team will struggle won't be because they're playing @ A&M, etc

^and this is not news to anyone so i'm not sure how i got here other than i just think last years schedule was a tough one
