Title: MassSAV issues (still); Sav St ADV

Once again the Cats struggle and let a bad team hang around for far too long. Keep in mind Louisville held this team to .35 PPP. Our friend ART's team held them to .66 PPP. Indiana, .72 PPP. The juggernaut that is Winthrop, .68 PPP. Sav State is a terrible, terrible offense, yet they scored .85 PPP against us and were within single digits far too long in this game. Gip gets in foul trouble against a team that has no height. Foster can score in stretches, but doesn't seem to take over. Our point guard duo has moments of decent play, but are still sporadic at best. Westicles still can't find his game. Its not out of line to say that our best player right now might be Nino Williams. That's not a knock on Nino; he's been everything we need him to be, but he shouldn't be our best or 2nd best or even 3rd best player right now.

Hopefully we can beat aTm and Georgia going into Big 12 play and I might gain a slight bit of my hope back, but even splitting those two seems like a tall order right now.

Rohlender(SP) and Bolden played significant first half min early.  That should be charted somehow and measured against the performance as well.  I feel like any stat analysis that doesn't is lacking.

For real though, Gip's foul trouble and Wes's lack of being Wes concern me more than anything at this point.  Without Gip, we are basically a team of SG's and Threes that don't have a feel for what to do for themselves or each other very well or very consistently.  This team really needs a huge jump from Jevon, Nigel, or Gip to stand a chance at all, IMO.

Having no true post presence on offense rough ridin' sucks.  Illinois doesn't have crap there and I hate its fat rough ridin' jump shooting face.

I also hate not having an good PG.  Makes for some very ugly basketball.

Who would have thought losing DJamer would hurt us this bad?

I don't think having DJamer available would have made much of a difference.

Having someone else know what they are doing is always a plus. Specially when it is something your team really needs.

Not on offense it wouldn't.  Like at all.

Yeah, he wouldn't be scoring notably,  but would have provided some style consistency rather than what we get when gip sits for Hurt.  Also, defense.

Honestly, given what we see now,  I think Rodney, and then Will and Shane, are what kept a sense of urgency.

Do you think oscar would just not play Hurt then (assuming he was healthy)?

No, but we might have seen him as a four more often than not.

No, but we might have seen him as a four more often than not.

I think that would be really bad for defense, but I haven't been watching lately.

Probably.  If it was, we could have afforded to simply bench him without Bolden'ing ourselves.

Does Bolden suck? I thought he looked good defensively. Obviously he's horrible at scoring, but does he just generally suck? I haven't payed close enough attention to know if he's good. Hopefully someone with hbbiq knows

You're either a stud or you suck. Nothing in between.

If Gip doesn't improve significantly then it won't matter that Bolden isn't very good because neither are Malek Harris and Big Meat and we need at least one of them to be good (in addition to Gip).

Our team is full of in between.  Bolden just isn't part of that.  He is awful.

This is actually probably true.

We need to stop turning the ball over and get better on defense in a huge hurry.

If we were run and gun all game I'd want Bolden and Edwards to play more. If we're going to be motion offense, we need one of the PGs to figure it out and should play Wes and tre more. Everyone needs to improve help defense and stop throwing the ball to the other team.

Is it just me, or are there a crap load more teams playing zone this year?

I think coaches are trying to the new way of officiating.

Here's my recommendation if we lose both the UGA and aTm games...let's quit trying to analyze these guys in some quasi-rational-objective world of numbers and evidence. Instead, if humanly possible, let's try to remember how we approached the Wooly era because that is what we are turning into. At least we had some sort of lovable loser feel to us then. Quentin Buchanan and Travis Reynolds may have been exceedingly frustrating when they had to show actual basketball skill, but they were our Junction City boys! Pervis Pasco may have had half the court smarts as anyone else at any given time, but we loved him! Wooly and the neck brace!

If you squint really hard you can kind of see Wooly in oscar. It's scary, but real. Let's remove past success from our collective analysis and expectations and simply appreciate life as fans of the hayseed Kansas State Wildcats. We don't get to have nice things guys!

If we lose to UGA and A&M, not one fan will GAF this entire season.  #FireBruce

Yes, losing to both aTm and UGA will bring tons of apathy. However, we all know oscar bought himself a bad year with what he did his first 2 years, even if he has done nothing in the tornament. It is what it is; but if he continues this slide (that started at the end of last season really) into next year, we'll burn this thing to the ground and I'll change my name to ksu_FBN.

I also think its reasonable to give him a shot to see if he can get this group to play better going into Big 12 play even if it doesn't seem likely. Clearly there are plenty of flaws with this team, but I still think there is enough there to be over .500 in this league and salvage some semblance of success this season.

the frustrating thing of this has always been that we were going to have to let it play it's course.

i will say that oscar is more entertaining/funny than i thought he was going to be and that there is entertainment value in that for me as a fan. i mean i wanted to boycot initially. but if you actually get a decent seat at a game and just watch oscar 50% of the time, i can guarantee that you'll enjoy yourself as long as you aren't wrapped up in on the court play and things like who won and lost.

hard to make it fun for those of us at home because ESPN doesn't find him as entertaining as, say, Frank.

yeah. you really have to be at the games and somewhat close to oscar to get any enjoyment out of basketball this year. i should have made that more clear. i thought it i would be more angered up watching him all game but it's actually v funny.

oscar has at least two more years. But that doesn't mean eliminate the need to start the movement for his ousting. I'm willing to change course, I just find it highly unlikely that conditions will change and I'll need to.
