One of the new rules for 2011 is that "taunting" on the way into the endzone will actually nullify a touchdown.

first thing I thought of too. :bawl:
-
what a stupid f*cking rule.
-
what a stupid f*cking rule.
What's next? Take away baskets if someone taunts in basketball?
And this is so subjective, you're going to have all this anti-celebration refs getting trigger happy to show they will call it. Or being ticked at a coach for being in his ear all game, and suddenly see a taunt.
This takes the "clean up the game" too far. And the stuff you see now is nothing compared to the height of stuff that was going on at "the U" back in the day.
-
We are entering a golden age of referee's betting on sports, apparently.

This.
-
How will the wedge rule affect the return game this year? None at all??
-
Get ready for some serious debate, and I don't want to be anywhere near the stadium the day a game-winning touchdown is taken away in the final minutes because a taunting flag was thrown.
The ref that makes that call will be dead before sunrise the following morning. At least he should be.
-
while we're at it, lets approve socialized medicine. wait... damn it.

God Dammit Obama! You are turning us all into French chicks with droopy bushes!!!

I remember being at a game back in the late '90's. We were playin CU and neither team could do a damn thing on offense. Finally some KSU receiver (possibly Brandon Clark) caught about a 30-40 yard pass and that put us in CU territory for one of the few times all game. Receiver gave a little fist pump as he came up and some dick ref threw the taunting flag.
Still remember that being one of the best arguments for the refs hating KSU during the DOD. I definitely see this happening plenty of times with this rule.

f*ck the NCAA.

I believe that this has been the rule in the NFL for several years. I don't know for sure but it seems like there are just about as many (percentage-wise) kickoff returns for touchdowns in the NFL as in college. :dunno:
-
If you can't taunt what is the incentive to be really good?
-
emotionless displays of enthusiasm will become the new taunting.

I think there are FAR more returns for TDs in college.

JFC, I hadn't even thought of the whole gambling/conspiracy theory aspect of this rule change. Will make for spectacular message boarding when someone's TD is yanked.
I watched Sportcenter last night to see if they had a piece about this, and was kinda hoping to see a montage of famous end zone dives including J Mo's. But nothing.

NFL started it last year to try and cut down on injuries from teams sending gunners to just blow up the wedge. I think it cuts down on returns and agree that the the NCAA game has quite a bit more. Or used to at least.

I know the game you are talking about. It was in 2001, the first time CU beat us in five years. We couldn't do anything all day, and the one time we finally make a good play, the refs punish us for it. They want to take all the emotion out of a game. Just a little fist pump, and you are breaking their stupid rules.

Wasn't this how Crash Ekeler got his nickname?
