thank you for exposing the double standards in every single post dax
You didn’t give two shits about the Kurds until 2 days ago. Plus you’re leaving out the details of the Kurdish incursions into Turkey over the years.
Turkey has been attacking the Kurds since your guy was in office but strangely, nary a peep from Lick until now.
Catalonia probably gets there first. I think the attempt at Federalized voter suppression hurt Spain's case in the court of public opinion globally.
Not sure if Catalon independence would make the path to independence harder or easier for the Basques.
Kurds probably deserve it first but have both Iran and Turkey working tirelessly against them
without further research my general recollection is that most of our support for regime change occurred prior to Russia's formal involvement
by the time Russia joined the fray it seemed we had moved more towards the balance of supporting the Kurds against DAESH and pacifying Turkey about this support
Dax what would be the preferred response in your opinion.
Honest question.
Leaning on the Kurds to beat ISIS and immediately bailing so Turkey can roll on them is shady af.
The Kurds have been a far more reliable as of late.
no real problem.
just hope we dont completely eff over the Kurds again.
any real victory over ISIS belongs to them
thank you for exposing the double standards in every single post dax
When resident LibBots finally admit that your guy created a complete crap show in Syria then we can talk about double standards. But you’re not capable of admitting that.
LOL at being pissed about Trump taking credit for rolling back ISIS, the true roll back of ISIS did not start until after he took office.

Imagine the sting of getting owned by a guy with "2 liter bottle cap depth" intelligence :sdeek:
Hey good for Lick, I'll admit Lick has a 2 liter bottle cap depth of intelligence, unlike the rest.
Of course what Lick is leaving out is the fact that Turkey has been attacking the Kurds (with U.S. made weapons for years) dating well back to his guy being in office.
What Lick is also leaving out is the the YPG (PKK who is Banned in Turkey) has eyes on making part of Turkey their own, along with areas in Syria and Iraq. In that regard Turkey is acting no differently than another nation state of any merit would act. We're literally talking about a Ethnic/Political movement talking about making part of a NATO country their own net new sovereign country. Gosh, I just can't think of any time in history when the taking of territories in such a (similar) fashion have ever been the launching pad for a future armed conflict.
Another thing Lick is leaving out is the fact that thanks to Barry Obama (and our DOD, more on that little operation out of Croatia and Qatar later) is home to 2 million Syrian refugees, Turkey would like to re-patriot them in Syria.

give me a break i have only cared about the issue for 2 days
seriously though everything you post above is accurate i wouldn't say i left it out but didn't see it relating to the issue at hand (us rough ridin' our only relaiable ally in the region.)
also you don't mention the numerous Turkish attempts to ethnically cleanse the Turkish population (a new version unfolding as we speak)
nor do you speak of the failure of the Treaty of Sevres (which promised and independent Kurdistan) and the creation of conflict borders that broke the Kurds up among 4 nations.
Ultimately I am not sure why current poicy does not favor the creation of an independent Kurdistan.
because it will anger Turkey?
- Erdogan is a bad actor and in no way has our interests at heart.
because it will anger Iraq?
- Iraq already has little control over the Kurdish autonomous region and has always struggled to control thepopulation (see Sadaam)
because it will anger Iran?
- I doubt this is troubling to us.

I think Turkey would back down without going to war with us if we were to stop them from bombing the Kurds.
I think Turkey would back down without going to war with us if we were to stop them from bombing the Kurds.
You're creating a situation where one NATO partner is on the brink of war with another NATO. Yet aren't you the same guys who lose your $hit every time Trump talks about the other NATO members needing to step up their game, and how Trump is trying to break up NATO?
I think Turkey would back down without going to war with us if we were to stop them from bombing the Kurds.
Erdogan probably said something mean to Donald and scared him.
I think Turkey would back down without going to war with us if we were to stop them from bombing the Kurds.

Just how are we going to "stop" them? By saying "Please" before we ask or are we're going to bomb the sh*t out of them if they don't? Oh I get it, we'll put sanctions on them. That'll do it. Can you say "hello Pres. Putin"?
Turkey knows we're not going to stop them. Wouldn't matter if it was the current President, the previous President or any of them prior to us getting the Turks to allow us to store nuclear weapons on their soil. We need them way more than we need the Kurds.
Have we learned nothing from the last 18 years? Arabs, Afghans, Kurds, Baluch, most Persians and generally any Middle East, South/South Central Asian muslim will be our friend if and when they need us. The Kurds will get mad but those that survive will be our friends again if they need us and we need them.
Lol, you guys were less pissed (wait you weren’t pissed off at all) when your guy was giving the Russians the bombing coordinates to the thugs that we were actually shipping in and arming to take down Assad (in between beheading each other).
Now you want the US going to war with a NATO partner and 8 months ago you lost your mind because you thought Trump was trying to break up NATO.
Hilarious, but still sad.

I'm sure we'll eventually find out what trump got for selling out allies.

What part of Turkey saying they were going to do what they're doing with our without U.S. approval confuses you?
The problem with the toe deep thinkers is that you think of the Kurds as the "Kurds" just one big unified body of people who collectively fought with the U.S., or really fought ISIS with U.S. help out of purely altruistic reasons, because they wanted to help ol Uncle Sam.
When in reality the "Kurds" are multiple groups, of which one has been classified as a terrorist organization. I also thought we'd already discussed how entities within the Kurdish collective were casting eyes on not only parts of Syria and Iraq but Turkey as well . . . did we not discuss that already?
It's a shitty position to be in . . . so there's a choice, put the U.S. military in the middle of a conflict involving a NATO member (likely pushing them into the Russian sphere farther, and remember, you guys hate hate hate the Russians).
Tell me which sovereign nation can you think of, particularly one like Turkey or of a higher economic and military status. Is just going to acquiesce to a political entity and allow them annex a part of a nation as their own? Not a "rogue province" not a separate political directorate, just flat out cutting off a chunk and saying in this case, that it's Kurdistan??
Not hard to understand.

I am hearing really stupid people say that Turkey would have fought a war with the US over interrupting the status quo that they had been fine with for a decade or so.
Amazing, I know, but some very huge idiots have claimed this. Don't shoot the messenger.
Remember when erdogan visited the white house and then his security guys beat up a couple protesters and then trump was like "what's the big deal?" and then trump was like yeah they can assault whoever tf they want and then dax was like "yeah, trump rules!"?

Yes SlowDug, Turkey was so pleased with the Status Quo that under the watch of your guy, they launched a bunch of U.S. built fighter planes and said they were going to go attack ISIS, but then peeled a bunch of them off to go bomb the Kurds (just one example).
So pleased with the status quo Turkey banned the Kurdish Political party.
You're listening to some really smart one's.
What the really "smart" people and people like SlowDug never want to talk about is things like the 3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey, and why they're in Turkey and whose dumb ass policies helped put those people in Turkey.

when you plant your flag on the "turkey would fight a conventional war against the united states and its allies over the kurds" hill you have already tapped out. Even the oldest of the olds knows that is not true
Dax, you're a special kind of dumbass.

Then when you double down on proposing armed conflict between the United States and another NATO partner then you're truly tripling down on stupid.
Then throw on the "Trump is trying to destabilize NATO" meme of about a year ago and you truly understand that you're dealing with complete OrangeMan Bad Whack-A-Doo's.
That's rich coming from the guy that repeats the same talking points and inane nicknames ad nauseam all over this board. But you do you, Dax. Keep deflecting away.Dax, you're a special kind of dumbass.
You literally never say anything of substance, ever.

It doesn't take any level of intelligence (well, at least above your level, but that goes with out saying) that a direct U.S. military threat to a fellow NATO member would be extremely controversial in its own right. In addition (and as I've discussed) I know full well that dummies like you and the rest of LibBot Nation would be immediately back on your dumb ass rants about Trump trying to break up NATO.
As I've said countless times, you never want to discuss the idiocy of why the United States is in Syria to begin with, and which administration ensured that Syria turned into a total disaster, and which administration ensured that the Iranians and Russians would get directly involved in Syria. You also at very adept at completely avoiding the decades long attempt by the Kurds (and their various factions) to annex part of Turkey as their own. Something that no NATO country would ever allow to happen or any other country for that matter.

After midnight. Trump is still undercutting the message DOD pushed hard, that the only reason he pulled its troops from N Syria was force protection. Trump’s want for total withdrawal and opposition to US military “persistent presence” counters his own Natl Defense Strategy. https://t.co/ttK7sx1JIq

Bigger meltdown over 72 hours in Syria that was going to happen no matter what the U.S. did, than 6 years of dumbass policies that lead to hundreds of thousands dead and millions of refugees.
All those refugees are causing LibBot's beloved EU to only have the power of a couple of additional exclamation points on their default sternly written letters, in this case, addressed to Erdo.

It's hilarious that Dax is quite possibly the only person on this entire rough ridin' planet that doesn't understand this. I knew the dude had stamina but to keep driving into the ground the false narrative that Turkey would have done what they're doing now regardless of whether or not we kept our troops in Syria is truly remarkable. We get it, man. US policy has been crap in the Middle East for half a century. Quit being dishonest about what is happening right now.
You read and post tweets from morons like Jacob Wohl and Charlie Kirk, dude. You listen to idiots on the internet all the time. It's laughable to suggest that Turkey was going to harm US soldiers in Syria. None of this was going to happen until Trump ordered the withdraw of our forces. I can't tell if you're being dishonest or delusional. I'm beginning to think it's the latter.
Nice tap out with Wohl and Kirk comments, like maybe one time. While you guys find derp after derp to put up on here only because they have one unifying factor: OrangeMan Bad :lol:
They started the operation when Trump announced he was withdrawing the troops. I mean, for eff's sake, Dax, the House voted 354-60 to condemn the withdrawal. Your OrangeMan Bad narrative is bullshit.Nice tap out with Wohl and Kirk comments, like maybe one time. While you guys find derp after derp to put up on here only because they have one unifying factor: OrangeMan Bad :lol:
So Dax and Trump are the only two people on the planet that are with it. Noted. It's a waste of time debating with you, you're so far up your own ass. They started the operation when Trump announced he was withdrawing the troops. One one side you have people who will hate everything that Trump does, and on the other side you have idiots who just can't stand the fact that the U.S. may be getting out of a place that the United States should have never been to begin with. They're relics of a bygone era who only know perpetual war and still think that somehow the Domino Theory is still in play. Only idiots (like you) don't understand that.
The point still stands, you guys find derp after whack-a-doo derp to reference on here only because of one thing: OrangeMan Bad

I think keeping 4 or 5 US soldiers there would have been enough to stop Turkey.
And while Pence said the US did not support the Turkish military offensive, Trump enabled the Turks to enter Syria Sunday when he ordered US troops in Northern Syria to pull out of the region.

I can't believe you bring up isis at this time, Kurds were slaughtered man.....
Russian combat forces in country since 2015-Check
Russian naval base in Syria for years and years already-Check
Never should have been in Syria to begin with-Check
Avoided an unprecedented military conflict with a NATO partner-Check
U.S. still with forces in place covering and controlling Syrian oil fields keeping them out of Iranian and Russian hands-Check
Previous administration absurd over reliance on proxies to fight ISIS-exposed

imagine being a Russian getting to party in a nice American base. Do you think Putin will visit and go party nuts with his victorious soldiers?
so in review we betrayed our allies and allowed them to be slaughtered with little to no warningImagine being such a moron you are defending our actions here. A special level of delusion and idiocy.
vacated the region and allowed 100's of ISIS combatants to escape
and created a power vacuum that Russia immediately stepped into
inflating their physical and geo-political footprint in the region and strengtheing ties with our NATO ally
all while not really leaving the country and bragging about stealing the oil
ready to hear the 4D aspects of this move
imagine being a Russian getting to party in a nice American base. Do you think Putin will visit and go party nuts with his victorious soldiers?
Nice? You mean the bombed out remnants of some tiny little buldings?

It's positive in the sense that U.S. troops are out of the middle of a conflict that has been going on for decades between Turkey and the Kurds. If the Kurds had just left well enough alone this probably wouldn't have happened but elements within the Kurdish movement still aspire to annex and control parts of Turkey.
The fact that LibBot Nation is freaking out because Russia sorta controls a sliver of sand inside the borders of it's long term ally Syria (a sovereign nation, remember?) is comical on every possibly level.
Also, just continue to gloss over the 3.5 million Syrians displaced into Turkey.

Imaging for a moment how your response would have been different had a Dem been in charge of such a well thought out foreign policy initiative.
You can't put Camero in CameroHead without Missouri and Kansas coming together.
