Title: Because inside every Syrian . . .
Post by: sonofdaxjones on November 21, 2014, 03:09:28 PM
is an American trying to get out!!

U.S. officials said their vetting efforts will focus on identifying recruits who are willing and motivated to fight the Islamic State, but they acknowledge that enforcing that agenda may prove difficult once the fighters leave CIA and U.S. military camps.

Hey Mr. Moderate Syrian Freedom Fighter, you horny for some ISIS blood or some Syrian Army Blood . . . and kittens, you like kittens right?

You didn’t give two shits about the Kurds until 2 days ago.   Plus you’re leaving out the details of the Kurdish incursions into Turkey over the years.

Turkey has been attacking the Kurds since your guy was in office but strangely, nary a peep from Lick until now.

When resident LibBots finally admit that your guy created a complete crap show in Syria then we can talk about double standards.  But you’re not capable of admitting that.

LOL at being pissed about Trump taking credit for rolling back ISIS, the true roll back of ISIS did not start until after he took office.

Catalonia probably gets there first. I think the attempt at Federalized voter suppression hurt Spain's case in the court of public opinion globally.

Not sure if Catalon independence would make the path to independence harder or easier for the Basques.

Kurds probably deserve it first but have both Iran and Turkey working tirelessly against them

without further research my general recollection is that most of our support for regime change occurred prior to Russia's formal involvement

by the time Russia joined the fray it seemed we had moved more towards the balance of supporting the Kurds against DAESH and pacifying Turkey about this support

Dax what would be the preferred response in your opinion.

Honest question.

Leaning on the Kurds to beat ISIS and immediately bailing so Turkey can roll on them is shady af.

The Kurds have been a far more reliable as of late.

no real problem.

just hope we dont completely eff over the Kurds again.

any real victory over ISIS belongs to them

Hey good for Lick, I'll admit Lick has a 2 liter bottle cap depth of intelligence, unlike the rest.

Of course what Lick is leaving out is the fact that Turkey has been attacking the Kurds (with U.S. made weapons for years) dating well back to his guy being in office.

What Lick is also leaving out is the the YPG (PKK who is Banned in Turkey) has eyes on making part of Turkey their own, along with areas in Syria and Iraq.   In that regard Turkey is acting no differently than another nation state of any merit would act.  We're literally talking about a Ethnic/Political movement talking about making part of a NATO country their own net new sovereign country.   Gosh, I just can't think of any time in history when the taking of territories in such a (similar) fashion have ever been the launching pad for a future armed conflict.

Another thing Lick is leaving out is the fact that thanks to Barry Obama (and our DOD, more on that little operation out of Croatia and Qatar later) is home to 2 million Syrian refugees, Turkey would like to re-patriot them in Syria.

give me a break i have only cared about the issue for 2 days

seriously though everything you post above is accurate i wouldn't say i left it out but didn't see it relating to the issue at hand (us rough ridin' our only relaiable ally in the region.)

also you don't mention the numerous Turkish attempts to ethnically cleanse the Turkish population (a new version unfolding as we speak)

nor do you speak of the failure of the Treaty of Sevres (which promised and independent Kurdistan) and the creation of conflict borders that broke the Kurds up among 4 nations.

Ultimately I am not sure why current poicy does not favor the creation of an independent Kurdistan.

because it will anger Turkey?

 - Erdogan is a bad actor and in no way has our interests at heart.

because it will anger Iraq?

 - Iraq already has little control over the Kurdish autonomous region and has always struggled to control thepopulation (see Sadaam)

because it will anger Iran?

 - I doubt this is troubling to us.

Well, I suppose we could back another coup attempt of Erd just like Obama did (dude loved regime change).

Turkey has said they're going to do what they're doing no matter what Washington said, so unless we're looking to go to war against another NATO country or once again immerse ourselves further in the area with more troops and no fly zones etc. etc.    Which would once again place the United States on the hook for yet another endless commitment in the Middle East, it is what it is.

Unfortunately the Kurds kept poking the bear in Turkey and this is the result.

The United States, at least the CIA and DOD is still doing some extremely eff'd up things in the Middle East, including  arming IS type factions in Syria and Yemen because they are/were fighting Iranian backed forces.

You also can't help but note that here's another NATO "partner"involved in a Balkanization effort.   Sad

Yes, let's go to war with Turkey over the Kurds.

Sounds like a very smart thing to do.

BTW embedded with the Kurds are a lot of not very good people, who were only fighting IS so as to carve out land so they could partition it for themselves.

But the drama queens don't pay attention to this kind of stuff.

You're creating a situation where one NATO partner is on the brink of war with another NATO partner.   Aren't you the same guys who lose your $hit every time Trump talks about the other NATO members needing to step up their game, and how Trump is trying to break up NATO?

Yeah, making sure Turkey doesn't bomb our allies is what would have created that situation. Turkey actually bombing them is perfectly fine.

there also is this...

“I have a little conflict of interest ’cause I have a major, major building in Istanbul,” Trump told Breitbart radio during his campaign. “It’s a tremendously successful job. It’s called Trump Towers—two towers, instead of one, not the usual one, it’s two.”

Just how are we going to "stop" them? By saying "Please" before we ask or are we're going to bomb the sh*t out of them if they don't? Oh I get it, we'll put sanctions on them. That'll do it. Can you say "hello Pres. Putin"?

Turkey knows we're not going to stop them. Wouldn't matter if it was the current President, the previous President or any of them prior to us getting the Turks to allow us to store nuclear weapons on their soil. We need them way more than we need the Kurds.

Have we learned nothing from the last 18 years? Arabs, Afghans, Kurds, Baluch, most Persians and generally any Middle East, South/South Central Asian muslim will be our friend if and when they need us. The Kurds will get mad but those that survive will be our friends again if they need us and we need them.

Lol, you guys were less pissed (wait you weren’t pissed off at all) when your guy was giving the Russians the bombing coordinates to the thugs that we were actually shipping in and arming to take down Assad (in between beheading each other).

Now you want the US going to war with a NATO partner and 8 months ago you lost your mind because you thought Trump was trying to break up NATO.

Hilarious, but still sad.

What part of Turkey saying they were going to do what they're doing with our without U.S. approval confuses you?

The problem with the toe deep thinkers is that you think of the Kurds as the "Kurds" just one big unified body of people who collectively fought with the U.S., or really fought ISIS with U.S. help out of purely altruistic reasons, because they wanted to help ol Uncle Sam.

When in reality the "Kurds" are multiple groups, of which one has been classified as a terrorist organization.   I also thought we'd already discussed how entities within the Kurdish collective were casting eyes on not only parts of Syria and Iraq but Turkey as well . . . did we not discuss that already?

It's a shitty position to be in . . . so there's a choice, put the U.S. military in the middle of a conflict involving a NATO member (likely pushing them into the Russian sphere farther, and remember, you guys hate hate hate the Russians).

Tell me which sovereign nation can you think of, particularly one like Turkey or of a higher economic and military status.  Is just going to acquiesce to a political entity and allow them annex a part of a nation as their own?   Not a "rogue province" not a separate political directorate, just flat out cutting off a chunk and saying in this case, that it's Kurdistan??

Not hard to understand.

Probably not going to top anything the Biden's got from the Ukaniane/Chinese/Countries to be name later, or the Clinton's got from the Russians/Chinese/Insert Name Here.

Like I keep saying, when she finally steps aside fully I'll quit mentioning her, BTW, still under investigation at the State Department.

Someday LibBot.9 will quit defending her(while trying to say he's not defending her)

I think Turkey would back down without going to war with us if we were to stop them from bombing the Kurds.

Why are you acting like this is some insolvable problem when it was solved all the way up until this week when Trump served up our Kurdish allies to Turkey for nothing?

:blah:  Say goodbye to any credibility you had left. This action is completely indefensible yet you're still trying. The status quo =d our allies being protected by a mere couple thousand troops. The literal second those troops were withdrawn Turkey started attacking the Kurds.

Lol, credibility on this blog? LOL x 1000

This action has been discussed for months waks, yet the new WarHawks aka OrangeMan Bad act like it was just decided yesterday.

The only solution the arm chair WarHawks have means almost certain war with Turkey.

Then to listen to people like John McCain Jr acting like we’re pulling out of the Middle East entirely is just endemic of the perpetual war crowd.

Yes SlowDug, Turkey was so pleased with the Status Quo that under the watch of your guy, they launched a bunch of U.S. built fighter planes and said they were going to go attack ISIS, but then peeled a bunch of them off to go bomb the Kurds (just one example).

So pleased with the status quo Turkey banned the Kurdish Political party.

It doesn't take any level of intelligence (well, at least above your level, but that goes with out saying) that a direct U.S. military threat to a fellow NATO member would be extremely controversial in its own right.   In addition (and as I've discussed) I know full well that dummies like you and the rest of LibBot Nation would be immediately back on your dumb ass rants about Trump trying to break up NATO.

As I've said countless times, you never want to discuss the idiocy of why the United States is in Syria to begin with, and which administration ensured that Syria turned into a total disaster, and which administration ensured that the Iranians and Russians would get directly involved in Syria.    You also at very adept at completely avoiding the decades long attempt by the Kurds (and their various factions) to annex part of Turkey as their own.    Something that no NATO country would ever allow to happen or any other country for that matter.

Actually I post a lot of details and people like you and the rest of the resident LibBots rarely if ever want to address them.

So again, we can start with who got us in the middle of this clusterfuck, any thoughts?   Who ensured that the Russians and Iranians were directly involved?   Who created the power vacuum in Syria that allowed the ISIS caliphate to expand?    Who was shipping arms into Syria?

But don't worry resident LibBots, there's ample evidence that sadly the United States is still engaged with all kinds of bad guys in the Middle East to continue to prosecute the U.S.'s agenda.  Including the recently unearthed information on JSOC's (and DOD non U.S. weapon acquisition program) operation "Smoking Gun" which is acquiring and shipping non U.S. made weapons out of Croatia on DOD contracted airliners into Syria and Yemen.    So in that regard, nothing has really changed, which is pathetic and sad.   In fact, JSOC is/was in Yemen helping Anti-Iranian forces who for all intent and purposes might as well be ISIS.

Oh man, who would have thought there'd be blowback from all the BS the United States was doing in Syria.    It seems the primary leader of forces fighting for Turkey against the Kurds used to be Chief of Staff for the "Free Syrian Army" which was "created" during the Obama administration and backed by the United States.   The FSA is now called the SNA, Syrian National Army and backed by . . . . Turkey.

BTW, the creation of things like the FSA is one of the reasons why Russia got directly involved in Syria.

Just couldn't have seen this coming, this movie has only been seen 5,000 times over the last 50 or 60 years.

Wow, imagine that, mixed messages in Washington DC, glad you finally figured that out Bucket.   You've missed oh, the last dozen decades or so of that apparently.

In other news, lets just call this little snippet the realization that Europe/EU/NATO played a significant role, along with the United States in putting 3 million plus Syrian refugees in Turkey.    The 3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey and why they are there are something that resident LibBots and LibBots far and wide never want to talk about and avoid discussing at all costs (Thanks Obama).

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-syria-security-eu-arms/eu-countries-stop-short-of-arms-embargo-for-turkey-idUSKBN1WT1KP

but stopped short of the EU-wide arms embargo that France and Germany had sought.

I doubt Greece and Italy are big fans of really pissing off Turkey and seeing that 3 million Syrian refugees headed their direction.

But it's so easy, just go to war with Turkey and that'll fix everything.

Dax if Obama were to hand Russia such a tremendous policy win what name would you call him?

   First off Lick, you can address the 3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey issue for a change.   Why are they there?

Next, let's ask what facilitating series of events years ago drove Putin and Russia to intervene directly on behalf of Assad?

Will you ever address the death and carnage that would have ensued had Assad fallen militarily?    What part of a Middle East Balkans is difficult for you to understand?

Erdogan reiterated today that nothing was going to stop Turkey from doing what they're doing right now.   So once again it appears that you're advocating for a direct military conflict with a NATO country that:  Houses 3 million Syrian refugees.   Houses several of the U.S.'s most important military bases in the region.   Likely has U.S. nuclear weapons in country.

That fact that you and LibBot Nation continually try to extol a "Putin Victory" in light of the fact that Putin already won in Syria years ago is absolutely fascinating, yet still

A full LibBot 180 on Perpetual War is simply something that psychologists should be writing books on for years to come.  Absolute derangement.

Here is what a rep from the Foreign Policy Research Institute had to say about the Free Syrian Army, John McCain (and Obama's) favorite Syrian storm troopers:

The main problem with these forces is their criminality,” said Elizabeth Tsurkov, a fellow at the U.S.-based Foreign Policy Research Institute who has interviewed dozens of the fighters and said they appear to be driven by a desire for power and money rather than by any specific ideology.

“Hatred of Kurds, a sense of Arab chauvinism, complete intolerance for any dissent, and just a desire to make a profit is what’s driving most of the abuses,” she said.

https://www.militarytimes.com/flashpoints/2019/10/15/money-hatred-for-the-kurds-drives-turkeys-syrian-fighters/

Do you guys even pay any attention to some of your favorite publications?

https://www.huffpost.com/entry/on-the-good-guys-in-syria_b_5812728

Also last September, Mr. Mcain was challenged on Syria by investigative journalist Christopher Greene of AMtv. The reporter asked, “”Senator Ted Cruz said yesterday out of Texas that we should not act as al-Qaeda’s air force. The al-Nusra Front is fighting alongside the Free Syrian Army which is directly linked to al-Qaeda. Why was the United States fighting against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan, but now fighting alongside them in Syria?

Trump ended support of the FSA:

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-usa/syrian-rebel-delegation-in-washington-seeking-revival-of-cia-aid-idUSKBN1F41ZV

The FSA delegation, Sejari said, included recipients of the CIA-led program, which began in 2013 and funneled, via Jordan and Turkey, weapons, cash and trainers to vetted FSA groups fighting Syrian President Bashar al Assad.

Just sad to see people from the Pentagon whining about the Kurds when it is the DOD who steadfastly refuses to unhook itself from its military bases in Turkey.   Incirlik is essentially the centerpiece of US air operations in Central Asia.  The US also has naval bases in Turkey.  Yeah . . .

It's sad to see so many LibBots  upset that the previous administrations war on secular oriented Islamic regimes failed in Egypt, Turkey and now Syria.

You'll always have Libya for the mantle, tho

Bigger meltdown over 72 hours in Syria that was going to happen no matter what the U.S. did, than 6 years of dumbass policies that lead to hundreds of thousands dead and millions of refugees.

All those refugees are causing LibBot's beloved EU to only have the power of a couple of additional exclamation points on their default sternly written letters, in this case, addressed to Erdo.

We had real skin in the game, otherwise it's been a little bombing here and a little bombing there from the Euro's.    The French did some bombing after some attacks in their country.   Not the least bit surprising you don't see the difference.

Just a shame you guys didn't bother to speak up about Syria 6 or 7 years ago.

It's hilarious that Dax is quite possibly the only person on this entire rough ridin' planet that doesn't understand this. I knew the dude had stamina but to keep driving into the ground the false narrative that Turkey would have done what they're doing now regardless of whether or not we kept our troops in Syria is truly remarkable. We get it, man. US policy has been crap in the Middle East for half a century. Quit being dishonest about what is happening right now.

Rather than listen to idiots on the Internet like you, I read and listen to the actual words coming out of the mouths of the leaders of Turkey.   Who BTW reaffirmed yet again today that literally none of the threats from any outside source matter to them.   This operation was going forward no matter what was done to try and stop it.

It's just  to think that the U.S. or any other NATO country was going to do anything militarily to stop Turkey.

You read and post tweets from morons like Jacob Wohl and Charlie Kirk, dude. You listen to idiots on the internet all the time. It's laughable to suggest that Turkey was going to harm US soldiers in Syria. None of this was going to happen until Trump ordered the withdraw of our forces. I can't tell if you're being dishonest or delusional. I'm beginning to think it's the latter.

Weird, I guess those U.S. commandos "temporarily withdrew from their posts" for no apparent reason.

First a link for the LibBot and Fake Centerist Source Pearl Clutchers in residence:

https://www.almasdarnews.com/about/

Since LibBot-NeoCon Nation has done a complete 180 because OrangeMan: Bad, and now fully supports perpetual war and even advocates going to war with a NATO partner.    You blood thirsty WhackJobs will be pleased as hell to know that not only is the oil for your SUV's being protected by your U.S. military, but they are also making sure that Ir "Billions dumped on the Tarmac" an won't be getting their hands on it, at least not in the near future.    I'm sure Lindsey "new McCain" Graham will be running around trying to say we lost the Middle East never-the-less.

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/us-military-unlikely-to-withdraw-from-eastern-syria-and-its-oil-fields/

It should also be noted that the Russians were saying as of this last July.  That the US is not only arming rebels in Syria, but stealing this oil.    But we've given the whole Middle East to the Russians according to the LibBot-NeoCons, so  :frown:

But on the flipside, it has to make you LibBot NeoCons just fist pump like crazy knowing these resources are being kept from the people of war torn (thanks Obama) Syria.

It's positive in the sense that U.S. troops are out of the middle of a conflict that has been going on for decades between Turkey and the Kurds.  If the Kurds had just left well enough alone this probably wouldn't have happened but elements within the Kurdish movement still aspire to annex and control parts of Turkey.

The fact that LibBot Nation is freaking out because Russia sorta controls a sliver of sand inside the borders of it's long term ally Syria (a sovereign nation, remember?) is comical on every possibly level.

Also, just continue to gloss over the 3.5 million Syrians displaced into Turkey.

They're covering your oil Slow Dug, keeping the Russians and Iranians away from it.

You should be fist pumping your ass off, but instead you just choose to be dumb, as usual.

Sad

how is any of this positive either in the short or long terms

Imaging for a moment how your response would have been different had a Dem been in charge of such a well thought out foreign policy initiative.

Imagining for a moment when LibBot Nation will actually admit that the U.S. had no business being in Syria and also admitting that because the U.S. got involved in Syria, the previous administration outsourced the fight against ISIS (because ISIS expanding in the vacuum the U.S. helped create) that eventually lead to the current situation.

But that's never-ever going to happen.

i do not necessarily disagree

but that logic carried out has us drop all ties and support to the region

which is not exactly a conservative position

Let's see:  Perpetually enraged about everything LibBot Nation was mad about "abandoning the Kurds".   While our forces stay to make sure Assad doesn't do anything to the Kurds.

Perpetually enraged about everything LibBot Nation was mad about the Russians taking over.  But our forces stay to to keep the oil from the Iranians and Russians.

Perpetually enraged about everything LibBot Nation is now mad because the U.S. controls the oil.

You’re such an amazing dumbass.  You’re comparing this to fighting against a NATO ally in a rough ridin' country we have no business being in to begin with.

You were talking about straw men earlier?  LOL.

France: We’ll be there if it looks like they’ll be a lot of talking . . . We might shoot at some people if you blow up enough bombs in our country.
