Unfortunately I can't get all that fancy VLC stuff to work. Any other suggestions?

Install the latest version of VLC. Or try the MPC-HC alternative (for computers only). It will work for any device that has at least Windows XP OS. The link Tobias gave you has all the info. And VLC isn't fancy, it's the best media player there is. :)

For tonight's game links look for the game thread.

I don't see an official thread for tonight's game, so I guess this is as good a place as any. Maybe a mod can copy it over or I'll be back in a hour to try again myself. If the keys to my other toolbox are working again, I should have a set of links for FSMW at gametime as well.

VideoLan has upgraded VLC to Version 2.1.5. Previous versions should still work, but it's usually good to upgrade this app.
*NOTE: When installing, select > delete preferences and cache.

You will need VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/#download) to view the streams on PC/MAC/iOS/other OS.
Click Here (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html) for windows x64bit systems. Previous versions (http://download.videolan.org/pub/videolan/vlc).
ALT player for PCs >> >> >> >> >> MPC-HC (http://mpc-hc.org/downloads/)

You will also need to make an adjustment to VLC. ------ VERY IMPORTANT!!
1st, Open VLC > Go to Tools > Preferences
Select the radio button "Show Settings" -- "All" (near the bottom)
Select input/codecs.
Scroll down to advanced, and change the value for Network Caching to 5000 (ms).
This helps to prevent dropped frames and provides a more stable stream.

It is much better to view streams through the VLC stand alone program, than to view it through a browser/VLC association.
The best way is to.... copy the .m3u8 file given... > open VLC... > click in middle of screen....
> press (keyboard) ctrl+v (to paste link) into VLC... > press play.

You can also just copy the link, open VLC, go to Media (or File) > Open Network Stream > paste the link > Enter or OK

.

And those links I've given are working right now, so you've got plenty of time to experiment and select the best bitrate.

Is there any advice you would give on how to get what is streaming on the VLC to play on my TV through a chrome cast?

My advice would be to get rid of Chrome in every form. It is absolutely the worst possible choice for a browser and it's components. The laundry list of reasons why is too long to post, but trust me, your every movement and web choices are being logged and sent to their marketing department to feed you ads they deem the most profitable for them.

Best browser for the average user is firefox. And not necessarily the latest version. If you reply with your PC specifics, e.g. The pc I'm on now is a pentium 4, 3Ghz, Win XP, 2GB RAM and I'm using Firefox 12. The latest version is Firefox 33. I have a laptop, dual core, 2.4Ghz/core, 4GB Ram, Win 7.1, Firefox 28. I'm not sold on Win 8, yet. I believe it's only best for the latest high end CPUs and I'm not there yet.

Many computers and laptops have a HDMI video out, which can be connected to most flat screens, or a S-Video out which many regular tube TVs have as an input. S-Video is video only, so you'll need to have an audio out to some speakers.

With HDMI video out, you'll need to go to your sound properties (right click the speaker icon in systray) and select the HDMI as your audio component.

I'll check back to see if you've replied.

Definitely go the HDMI cable approach if you can.

With Chromecast, you can (a) cast media using a supported application such as Netflix or Youtube, (b) cast a chrome tab or (c) cast your whole screen.  In this case, (c) would be your only option, and (c) quite frankly sucks in practice.

Do you have an HDMI port on your pc?

It's actually easier most times to hack with the "old" stuff. I even have a PIII with Win 2000 server as an OS, I use if needed. ;)

No, my links will work. The FCSes are not on Foxsportsgo. If you have a video subscription that includes FSMW, then you will be able to get it on Foxsportsgo I think. I'm in Fla and Sunsports and FS Florida live games are usually available on Foxsportsgo.

In other news, my keys to the toolbox are going to take a bit more work, so I won't have the FSMW links tonight.

My computer doesn't have an HDMI port because it is a tad ancient. I am having no trouble viewing the channel on my computer, I just don't know of any other way to cast from my computer to the tv besides my chromecast. We do also own a roku if that would be of any benefit
Have you tried option c?

With Chromecast, you can (a) cast media using a supported application such as Netflix or Youtube, (b) cast a chrome tab or (c) cast your whole screen.  In this case, (c) would be your only option, and (c) quite frankly sucks in practice.

It works, but isn't very effective with streaming video as it is delayed and tends to struggle at times by pausing then catching up.  The video stream is excellent on my computer. I am currently researching other ways people online suggest casting video.

already downgraded to the 1264 link.

Just ran speedtest and I'm running at 30Mbps. Not the greatest, but should be able to handle that resolution I would think.

Thanks... I kinda figured. It's no good for tonight I realize, but one thing to consider if you're going to be streaming video in the future is to buy the right video card for your PC.
3 factors to consider.
1, It needs to have multiple video outs, with one being the type you can connect to your TV. If your TV has HDMI the that's best.
2, it has to fit into a PCI , PCI Express 16X, etc slot. You'll need to look inside the PC to be sure, and it needs to be compatible with your OS. PCI Express usually gives best results.
3, It will have to have enough Video RAM. For HDMI 512 or higher. For S-video 256 or higher.

I've seen really good cards on Ebay for as low as 20 bucks, so it's very affordable. I suggest a little research is quite valuable before a purchase, but it's really straight forward for the most part. I've done it many times for myself and friends with no issues. Good Luck! :)

If you're using a PC with windows, you can try increasing the CPU priority in Task Manager.

Right click a blank spot in your taskbar. Select Task Manager > processes.
Right click VLC and increase priority to "Above Normal".
Don't go any higher.

For me the video will play for a minute or so and then the video freezes and the audio keeps repeating, like 20 seconds worth, ad nasuem. Very weird and frustrating problem that I didn't have the other day when this stream worked perfectly for me. I tried restarting the stream, then I tried stepping down to a lower res stream, but with the same results each time. Any ideas?

Dump your cache and cookies and retry. I'm checking it to see if I have the same issue. brb

I'm using VLC, not the VLC plugin, do browser cache and cookies still have some effect? If so, which ones, I switch between FF, Chrome, IE and Opera according to whim.

You sir are a crazy man!

Yeah, I'm weird.

Any ideas?

Yes I am.... lol...

It can, but best way is to use a cleaner like CCleaner to scrub the Windows temp files as well. Also be sure you have the fewest apps running as possible while viewing streams. Again Task manager is your friend here... Or I use Process explorer which is free and let's you view all processes ongoing. It's a super little app to see if there are processes operating which you do not desire and can spot mal-ware operating behind the scenes. It allows you to stop any process you want.

Thanks jmarks. Feel bad that you're running IT when you should be watching the game.
It's all good... :D Really happy to help out great fans like y'all.
I'm watching on regular TV or was. just wish the Cats were kicking their ass! C'mon Boys!!!

I checked the stream with different bitrates and all seem to working great for me. Let them each go a couple of minutes with no issues

I actually haven't had any issues since I bitched about it.

thanks jmarks.  just go ahead and make this your official thread for the rest of the season or go ahead and make your own masterthread.
Whatever Pete and the mods prefer, but I'm really okay with finding the gameday thread to keep it simple for each game. And it would really be helpful for the longevity of these streams if all the links were deleted after each game. The "man" is out there and would love to make it as hard as possible for me. I do streams for all NCAA sports/most teams/most games and the less stress the better if you know what I mean.

It's not uncommon for there to be issues at the start of games when everyone is logging on at the same time. These VLC links tap directly into foxsportsgo streams so we contribute to the load as well.

I did and I will, but it would be great if a mod could take care of deleting the links off the posts that quote my link posts, as well. It's just the VLC links we need to worry about. The Stream Torrent and flash links don't matter.

They should with VLC's latest version. If not I've heard MX player works. If you're on a data limit I suggest using the lower bandwidth feeds.

>links removed for posterity<

The best way is to.... copy the .m3u8 file given... > open VLC... > click in middle of screen....
> press (keyboard) ctrl+v (to paste link) into VLC... > press play.

You can also just copy the link, open VLC, go to Media (or File) > Open Network Stream > paste the link > Enter or OK

.

The links are working right now, so You can fiddle around with it before the game starts.

It's best to be online with the stream well before the game starts as at game time there may be some lagging, skipping, or a repeating loop, until the stream settles down. This is what happened last time but it worked itself out.

I will also have the FOX Sports Midwest feeds just after tip off.... :)

Here's is the DL and the patch. You must use the patch and it may take up to 25 minutes sometimes to get StreamTorrent to connect the first time (but, usually about 5min) so get on early! I'm streaming the Gators game before KSU. I'll try to check back before gametime.

Download StreamTorrent Build 0078 (http://"http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Stream-Torrent-Download-129131.html")
Apply this patch A Solution to Net State - Not Connected and the Red X (http://"http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/84017-A-Solution-to-Net-State-Not-Connected-and-the-Red-X")
You should read ST Guide (http://"http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/26671-Guide-Using-StreamTorrent.") as well.
There is also a Portable Version available HERE (http://"http://forum.wiziwig.eu/threads/71729-Portable-StreamTorrent-1-0-Build-0078")

Just ignore any of that and let it buffer. It is working. As long as there is not a red X on the systray icon, it will load eventually.

Do I need to download a different version for mac?

I've tested my ST download on some NFL links and it looks like the software is good to go. However, upon opening the Kansas State link from the "forum links" page the status reads "quality, expired".
Just ignore any of that and let it buffer. It is working. As long as there is not a red X on the systray icon, it will load eventually.
Will keep it open. For now, it just has a yellow exclamation point and says "still connecting but channel appears to be offline". Thanks for helping.
Did you install the patch?
Is there a red x on the systray icon? (little blue ball near the clock bottom right)

Yep, followed all directions in your first post to a T. Hovering over the icon says "connecting, perfect". No red x. Again I tested the software on some NFL streams. All the other ST channels (420tv5, jay's feed, brunswick etc) are freely accessible but for some reason I can't get to 420tv3. A moment ago it began buffering for a second but it seemed to freze for over 10 minutes at 22%, so I rebooted and I'm back to square 1. I'll just leave it open and see what happens.

Does this help? 420tv5 will buffer whereas 420tv3 will not.

Sry the streamtorrent stream didn't work for some of you last week. Not sure what the issue was, but I've had no other negative feedback on that channel. Not to worry this week though... :)

These are just flash links. Be sure you have the latest adobe flash player update. It's 16 now...
I will not be able to return today. Way too busy.

Hi friends,
Pardon my absence, but I've been working on getting another project going after wiziwig shut down. Wiziwig may return in a few weeks to a few months, either with the same name or a different one.... we're not sure yet. In the mean time I'll be posting on a new forum... >> http://livetv.sx/en/forum/topics/4/. I'll try to keep posting links here as well, but in case I do not, please go there for the latest info.
