I have a brand new modem from Best Buy that was like $100 and supposedly good. I have a Airport wall plug thing for wifi router. Internet is slower than previously and drops regularly requiring me to unplug the modem and then it goes back. That will work for a bit but then I ultimately end up re-setting my Airport.
I have Cox for cable and approximately 6 months ago they came out and "changed my signal levels" on my cable box to optimize performance. No issues until the past week or so.
Please don't be weird thirsty phoggers and post the Kim K pics here. They may just break your internet.

I never cared for the Airport routers. My old one did not work very well at all. Made the switch to Netgear about two years ago and haven't had any problems.

Is your router facing North West? Did you install the modem correctly? Sometimes it helps to follow cardinal directions.

Seriously tho, I assume you called Cox to register the modem, right? MAC ID, etc.
Bad call on buying that Airplane or whatever, pretty much guarantees that no one who knows how to troubleshoot devices will be familiar with it.

What kind of cable modem KK? Is it a motorola? You can log into them and check channel signals and strength. Are you resetting the Airport or the Cable modem to make it work?
Cable internet use to be my thing..... :cool:

really strange, every report I've seen has indicated that the Kim K image has only made Cox performance stronger (although typically only in short bursts).

Is it possible it is over capacity? I have a roku box, two laptops, two cellphones, two tablets running off of one modem/router. Is that excessive? I mean obviously not all of them are going at once, but 3-5 are at peak hours.

Wait, are you actually having tech issues? I would bet it's your crappy router. I was in the same boat w/ 10+ devices connecting to a single access point. Even though you may be only actively using a few at one time, many of them are still connected to the AP. I was using the crappy stock TWC router, so I went and bought a $100 jobby-do and that fixed it right up. Dual band, 2.4/5 Ghz. I'm no James Gosling, but my understanding is that it essentially gives you two networks on diff frequencies which in theory can reduce signal interference.
Router placement is important, too.

on the real it's almost certainly the airport express. I upgraded our router from one of those and it made a huge difference.

if you want to stay in the apple family the AirPort Extreme is a fine router. I bought this: http://www.amazon.com/RT-AC66U-Dual-Band-Wireless-AC1750-Gigabit-Router/dp/B008ABOJKS
routers are one of those things people usually just go cheap on but a good one will make a big difference. idk if your airport express is the problem for sure or not but a good one will help either way. and if you have a new good cable modem the router is the most likely culprit. I use the Asus with a good Motorola cable modem I bought and it's very reliable and quick (with time warner).
