I actually thought he did fine tonight. Though bill should have called more runs and we need sometging better tban Sexton to be our dump off when Lockett is too doubled. This loss comes down to four mental breakdowns: locketts td that wasn't and cantelle (sp) x3. The auburn d looked just fine, but our offense beat themselves with those four huge mistakes, none of which were forced.
Our d looked rough ridin' great. High intensity and swarming. That said, marshall had three or for wide open bombs he completely whiffed on that would have blown the game open.

Valid. I didn't say I though he played great. We are forcing basically all offense through him and he only has like 1.5 receivers. Turnovers happen under conditions like that.
I dont want to be his defender here. I have an established record of where I stand on him. Just think he didn't do terrible last night given how we play and who we played.

Jake was the least of our problems.
The idea that we should've run more flies in the face of reason. They were stopping the run and were closing out on anyone with the ball in their hands so quickly that we had no big plays. Their safeties were great at helping to blanket Lockett. Athletically they were superior. With that being said, we had that game and didn't take it. It really did come down to four plays, none of which were on Jake. You could say the fifth big play, fumbled snap was Jake but overall he was a positive in that game.
I do wonder what we could've done with Sams at QB for 12 snaps though.

Jake didn't play up to his average vs. Auburn. Neither did Lockett. Neither did Cantele. If those three have an average game, we win.
How 'bout that D though?

JFC, the fumble was idiotic, but the missed catch for the TD/int was all on lockett. Finger pointing should start at the kicker and then everyone else on offense.

to be fair his terrible sack/fumble at the end of the first half could have arguably cost us points as well. truth is jake is supposed to the be leader of the offense, and that offense could only generate 14 points against not super strong defense. He made more than a handful of bad decisions in this game.

I've never seen our receiving corp EVER allow that many drops and/or passes reach their pads. Suffice it to say, Thursday night's game was a football training film on "HOW NOT TO PLAY FOOTBALL". A mild setback/embarrassment for both of our teams in front of a national spotlight to boot.
I believe both of our teams are better than that 3 hours of the equivalent of a wisdom tooth removal sans anesthesia we witnessed on Thursday PM. Good luck going forward...beat OK & Baylor and this game won't mean a thing to you!
