Title: Iowa State

It's a road game. It's a morning road game. That said, ISU is terrible and we will win it. Any thoughts to the contrary?

34 unanswered from an fcs opponent breaking in 18 new starters and a head coach, that's rough ridin' embarrassing. They should really push ku for crap stain of the year in the big 12. Ttech, WVU and oSu are really lucky ku and isu are around.

Welch st was pathetic. Bars with like 100 people capacity...it was $5 dollar coke(the soda) night everywhere. Weakest drinks ever. Basically got more sober as the night went on.

I would like to play  :ksu: again. Absolutely gorgeous campus, Aggieville kicked my ass but it was worth it. State of the art stadium and world class fans.

watching the replay on FSKC... they just skipped over like 3 minutes of gametime.  Can't decide if its because its a replay on at midnight, or just because of how shitty and awful iowa state football is to watch.

I hope the team isn't reading the boards and takes things "one game at a time."    ISU seems to get up and bite a team in the butt every year.   I'd rather not be that team this year.

I'll go ahead and just leave this here.

Since Proud Paul's "program changing victory" against Okie State in 2011…

The number are not pretty:

- 9-20 overall, 6-17 vs BCS teams (3 of those wins against KU)
- The biggest loss in ISU football history
- A 1-2 record against FCS opponents
- A 1-9 record against ranked opponents. TCU was the only ranked win, although they ended the season unranked.
- Failed to put up more than 20 points in 14 of 29 games.
- Given up at least 30 points in 14 of 29 games.
- A 20% winning percentage against conference opponents
- Only 4 home victories (Western Illinois, Tulsa, Baylor, Kansas)
- A -194 point differential in 20 conference games.
- Average -9.2 point differential vs BCS opponents

The gap in just about everything is too great for ISU to win this year.

They may make it closer than we want, but they won't win.

Toledo will be a tough one.  They are picked to win their division of the MAC over No. Illinois.  They have a ton of returning starters from a team that gave Mizzou all they wanted in Columbia last yr.  in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they beat Mizzou up in Toledo this season.

Iowa State:

The worst rush defense in the league last year, giving up 5.35 YPC.

Not the worst, but a poor pass defense that gave up 6.9 YPA and had a league low 8 interceptions.

The worst Big 12 defense in points per play (.47) and yards per play (6.05).

And they don't look like they've gotten any better after allowing 7.03 YPP, .47 PPP, 6.86 YPC, and 7.3 YPA in week 1 against a great FCS team, but a program that lost their head coach, quarterback, and 4 offensive linemen.

The Cats should score at least 35 points if not more. I respect NDSU, but we've got a better offense. The Cyclones are simply in for a very long season.

Ehh, I might take that if offered cause it's @Iowa and not ISU. That being said, decided to look up that game to see if it's worthwhile, and stumbled upon that the old Cy-Hawk Trophy resides in the Hy-Vee Hall's Iowa Hall of Pride. That is like the most Iowa-y thing I have ever heard of.

Like I said earlier, 0-12. They are awful.

Watching Iowa State try to play football is like watching that commercial with all those abused/neglected animals narrated by the chick that sang the Dawson's Creek theme song.  You feel sorry for them on a level you can't put into words.  You hope that, one day, they can find a nice home but you are sure as crap not going to put them up in your place.  The Big 12, however, has stood by feeding those poors and a video narrated by Dawson's Creek chick will soon be necessary to raise money for the tragedy that is Iowa State football.

May God have mercy on all of us for even having to watch a football game in that mold-infested high school stadium.

I've been offered free suite tickets to ISU/Iowa game next weekend and immediately turned them down.  I would need to be paid to go see that trash.

Yeah, Iowa City is like 100000x better than lames

Man, what a sad story to look back on. Rhoads did do some nice things with the wins at NU and UT and the big upset of OSU. Unfortunately he's taken that momentum and buried it into the ground.

And they wanted so badly for him to be the guy to do it; not quite the same, but similar to how some of us "believed" in Wooly.

Yeah, its idiotic. Why wouldn't you want to bring in talent (especially local) and build competition. Any decent college coach should never think "we're fine at this position, we really don't need to recruit another guy" unless he's in real bind with scholarship numbers.

The difference between Iowa State and good schools is that good schools, like K-State, aren't afraid to recruit over someone. Rhoads must've been content with last year's QB situation so he didn't go after a juco QB. That, or he thought he had no chance at stealing him away from blue blood programs like K-State, Bama, and Penn St. Either way, it was pretty foolish.

Would seem that way but:

SECTION 2. Out of Bounds
Player Out of Bounds
ARTICLE 1. a. A player is out of bounds when any part of his person touches
anything, other than another player or game official, on or outside a boundary
line (A.R. 4-2-1-I and II).
b. A player who touches a pylon is out of bounds.

Yeah, ISU isn't going to beat Toledo. Their only winnable games are KU and Iowa.

Iowa is in no way shape or form beatable for ISU. We are more likely to lose than Iowa.

Rivalries between scrub schools are adorable.

I know quite a few 'clones and they are adorable losers. I know a handful of 'eyes and they are disgusting humans. I am team ISU every day of the week and twice on Sunday in this rivalry.
Man, Colorado-Colorado State was pretty intense this year, guys!

Yeah, ISU isn't going to beat Toledo. Their only winnable games are KU and Iowa.

Iowa is in no way shape or form beatable for ISU. We are more likely to lose than Iowa.

@MakeItRain  :whistle1:

Never count out the only team in America that actually cares about beating your shitty team, Iowa.

If you think so. I don't think they're very happy with him. And even if they are, him and his contract are a laughing stock in the sports world. So if you want to go by just fan base, Iowa State is still way more obsessed with Rhoads than Iowa is with Ferentz.

Not anywhere close to the same thing. Ferentz hasn't gotten fired because he has a ridiculous buyout, it's like $13 million, seriously! He also makes a bowl game essentially every year.

This is his 20th year as a head coach, 3 years at Maine 17 at Iowa. He has never had an undefeated non conference record, never.

No he's legitimately on the hot seat, everyone knew last year after he beat Iowa he would be safe. You're right about losing to Toledo though. They play KU after that and he absolutely will get fired midseason if loses the next two.

KU is so thin, they're only going to get worse as injuries and fatigue set in.  If history doesn't look back at this team as the worst P5 team in the P5 era, my hat's off to Beatty.
