Yeah, you are paying for all of the R&D and hassle they had to go through to get it approved. That's why they get patent protection for so long. They have to recoup all of that expense. It's very easy and cheap to copy a drug that is already researched and approved. But, since your drug already has a generic, your doctor is a POS for tricking you into getting the name brand. Luckily, the pharmacist will usually offer you the generic anyway.

it could also have to do with your health insurance plan. The generic may cost a lot more if you paid completely out of pocket but since that particular generic is on the insurance plan's "list" and the brand name drug isn't, it costs much less. :dunno: As a side note, generics can be of considerable less quality and vary in exact dosage from batch to batch due to the more lax laws on monitoring the production process. So, if it is something super important/expensive it is not always in your best interest to get the generic :ohno:

Try to get more exercise. My dr said if you can physically wear yourself out you won't have trouble sleeping as much. Helps with anxiety too

Off-Brand NyQuil gives me horrible violent nightmares, use the real stuff. . . in case what your doctor "prescribed" doesn't do the trick

Yeah but 'chill pills' are schedule 4 drugs, dangerous and highly addictive and extremely illegal to have if you're not prescribed. I have some but try not to use them very often, and I don't
