They want him to play for free so the team can survive past the first weekend of the tourney. Thus establishing the "legacy" that will help feed him and his family for generations.

I find it even more amusing that the t-shirt fan base/joco crowd is at the head of this. Nothing is more "convincing" to me, than a bunch of drop outs telling a future millionaire to stay for a "legacy".

Well this is a case where the supposed silent majority is complicit by not telling the supposed minority to shut the eff up. I think your vocal minority assessment isn't accurate, it isn't like KU fans don't have an extensive history of doing this.
