7 - 11,

We get swept by KU, OSU, and ISU.  We can't compete with those teams.  We sweep TCU and Tech, they can't compete with us.  We can beat WVU at our place, but our young team cannot win there.

We get better as the year goes on, which allows us to win on the road at OU, then upset Baylor at home to finish the season.

Probably not, likely need at least 10 total (including tournament) wins against Big 12 teams. That also likely means 3-4 more wins against Top 50 RPI teams and a win or two against RPI Top 25 teams. We'll hopefully have at least 2 Top 50 RPI wins in the OOC (Zaga, GW). To be on the right side of the bubble I think you need at least 5-6 Top 50 RPI wins without many bad losses. Fortunately No Colorado and Charlotte were early for us, both of which will likely be >100 RPI losses.

This OOC breakdown for each conference (http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/eye-on-college-basketball/24387651/conference-comparisons-how-the-top-leagues-stack-up-so-far) does give some hope that there will be fewer lower level conference at large teams and that the Big 12 will be the #1 or #2 conference going into the tournament.

You know, I was looking at kenpom and he is not too good at figuring out who the go purple cats should beat.  He says the zags are much better and that Charlotte and Northern Colorado are worse to much worse.  WTF ken?  Says Illinois is much better than Georgia Tech and yet we lost.  Advanced shmanced.  :buh-bye:

2. We'll have two wins against the top four teams, but we'll also lose a game or two to one of the crappy teams like Tech and TCU.

Do you think 8-10 gets us in the dance if the Big XII finishes as the #1 RPI conference?  I want to start getting my hopes up.

1. I'd like to see all of you repost your predictions after we lose to GW.

What I meant by this is I would like to see everyone post their conference record predictions after we lose to GW because right now I feel like everyone is inflating our number of wins since we just beat Gonzaga and people think they're good for some reason.

Meh, we're not real good, but we're not real bad. Similar to 08-09.

If we lose to GW I switch from my best case prediction which is posted to my worst case prediction which is 6 wins.  I will go back and forth between these two extremes.

I'd probably go with the window of 7-9 wins. A record of 8-10 seems most likely, we'll see how good Jevon is.

Do you think 8-10 gets us in the dance if the Big XII finishes as the #1 RPI conference?  I want to start getting my hopes up.

I doubt 8-10 would get us in, especially with those losses to NoCol and Charlotte. They were early, but still.

No.  That team did more or less everything better than this team does, except that team fouled more, and had worse luck when other teams shot three pointers.  This team has much more in common with any number of Wooly's teams than it does with 08-09.

8-10 would be a good finish for this group.

True, but JO in the paint was the key to allowing us to run them of the 3 point line imo

Also, Georges is a very difficult matchup for Gip or DJamer - I would put the o/u at 8 for combined fouls for them in Ames

Our pace could mess with Iowa State, I think home teams winning is most likely with them this year.

I was surprised that the current slowest paced team in the Big 12 (and #341 nationally) is Baylor, 62.9 possessions per game. Drew hasn't been particularly faced paced, but usually in the upper 60s.

Not having a shot blocker doesn't hurt this team that much, we are incredible good at help defense. Our biggest defense flaw is going to be post defense because of lack of depth. Best way to attack oscar-a-cats 2013-14 is to bang them.

Yep guards have been very good with help D, so has Gip. Offense has some serious problems, how much our offensive can improve will be the main factor on how far this team can go.

Even if ISU is heavily favored in Hillton, they will still have, at best, a less than 70% chance at winning.  30%+ win percentage is far from laughable, unless you are either manic or have very strange humour.  ISU is basically Toledo, which is coincidentally who KU plays tonight.  So KU basically plays ISU tonight.

I think we can get to 11-7.

Have 4 games at home that will be contests, even though right now Baylor looks awful.  Go 3-1 vs UT, KU, Isu and Baylor

On the road, like to see us go 2-2 against WV, Tech, OU and Baylor.   Im counting Osu as a loss right now

I don't think our confidence on the road is suffering, but getting a win at Huggy next Sat would be a good boost.  IF we can get that win then I think 12-6 is about the same odds as 10-8.

Nice predicto so far. OU is going to be tough though. I'd say switch that and OSU at home, and you've nailed it.

We never lose to WVU ever, in anything.

Probably more than a little optimistic but I don't believe in WVU or UT yet.

1. Oklahoma State (16 - 2)
2. Kansas (15 - 3)
3. Oklahoma (12 - 6) Defeated Baylor based on record against #1 teams.
4. Baylor (12 - 6) Lost to Oklahoma based on record against #1 teams.
5. Iowa State (11 - 7)
6. Kansas State (10 - 8)
7. West Virginia (6 - 12)
8. Texas (5 - 13)
9. Texas Tech (2 - 16)
10. TCU (1 - 17)

Lol at Texas only getting five wins.

Always great win the Cats to better than my own prediction (10-8). I know it's not set in stone, but there is a good chance at 11-7 or even 12-6.

its nice to go back and read these threads, no offense to the Peggy pos and negative Nancy's but it feels good knowing you had confidence in the cats from the beginning
