Title: In Memoriam: Timhawk
Post by: OK_Cat on November 30, 2013, 02:22:27 PM
I think I'll always remember Timhawk for his ability to never give up, except for at the very end when he didn't pay.

Phil, cross this with an online payday loan service, and you pribably have something there.

For real, though,  you guys should check out Dwollar.com (sp).  Free app where you register your bank acct, then can instantly transfer money from dumb bet makers accts to smart bet maker accts.  OnIy costs like $0.10/transaction with no value limit.  Takes place through the same clearing houses the credit card companies use, but goes instantly from one bank to another.

So how's this gonna go?  kslimlb3 is going to post tim's phone number, then what (what now)?

Tim will keep posting stupid crap on here about anything other than paying his debt, while kslimlb3 will insist that the real bet of gE #life not be enforced while he futilely tries to get his money.

Let's speed this up.

The real danger is when The-Mainboard gets wind of this and even a tiny bit of his personal information. When that happens, you might as well just eat a bullet because your life is over.

It's already been brought to the attention of the EMAW and Big 12 threads. Should be fun to see what'll happen if the whole board gets in on it.

There seems to be a theme with you and the avoidance of consequence with the words that people speak. No one forced Landon to make those bets, if I recall he was the one telling people to put their money where their mouths were, and he was pretty aggressive with all of this.

People need to learn not to eff with other people just because you sit behind a screen, words have consequences, always have. I'm leery of people who thinks a computer or cell phone changes this.

Yeah while I respect gE for finding their collective conscience on this, I have no sympathy for people who welch on bets. Not saying his life should be ruined, but people who don't put their money where their mouth is are pretty low on the totem pole of humanity :th_twocents:

With your past history you don't get to be the arbiter of what is acceptable behavior on the internet or not, you're not exactly the best impartial observer. I've been pretty mean to some people on this blog, I've never felt endangered by someone fighting me, posting personal info, showing up at my job, etc. Me and 99% of people who use the internet realize there is a line. I sure hope you teach your kids internet responsibility, they put people in jail for things they say on the www.

You may not recall, but he is pretty high up in his job.  I mean, when we met him first, he was way up in the air removing concrete forms from some bridge, so the idea that he isn't rich seems pretty silly.  That said, who knows.....

we started work today at Bill Self’s new house, adding on to his existing composite deck and then will be adding a metal pergola to cover the deck. he stopped by in the morning and let me tell you…he is one cool mother f’er

cindy stopped by later in the afternoon to move some stuff over and she came out and she was real nice and friendly as well. anyway…just wanted to let everyone know i got to chat with Bill Self for a bit today…he would be so fun to sit down and have a drink with.

oh i forgot to add…the sales guy who met with Self last month graduated from kstate…so i told Self today “when they told us we were putting in a bid for Bill Self, i told them not to send the guy who graduated from kstate.” he laughed and said “well, he couldn’t get in to KU.” we all laughed and he that little smirk on his face.

Possible. Kind of weird to keep old balenciaga, chanel, and louis vuitton bags with brand new retail packaging just for staging. If so, wooooof. I thought it looked like new money that grew up watching the kardashians. Either way, they appear to have much more money than I do.

Also weird to have a bunch of shirts on hangers with rolled up sleeves. Do you all re-wear shirts, or launder them with rolled up sleeves? I guess I'm the weirdo.

For many people, the value of their home is 2-3 times their annual salary. Based on that logic, Billy Self should be living in a $10-15 million palace - not some $1.5 million shanty.

This raises the question - if he's not spending his $$$ on housing, what IS he spending his $$$ on?

Hmm...

Understandable, but his retention bonus alone is $2.5M per year, and he made $10M last year. He's been coaching at KU for 20 years. His annual salary alone is >$5M per year, not including bonuses, appearances, and endorsements. There's nothing wrong with being conservative. I'm conservative too. I'm just shocked he's that conservative. He only has one child, who's grown. And grew up in Oklahoma. Not like he's saving to support 5 kids in LA. I'm surprised he doesn't have multiple homes AND a $5M home in Lawrence.

I respect the hell out of a guy who doesn’t try to buy more house than he needs. I’d rather have a bunch of $500k to $1 million homes at 5 different neat locations than one $2.5 to $5 million home in Lawrence.

How do we know he doesn't? Anyway, it's a perfectly fine property for empty nesters. 5,000+ sq. ft. for empty nesters is plenty. It's an exclusive neighborhood. And he's a workaholic who's likely not home very often. As cat said, nothing wrong with living below your means.

Also, lol at Beaty's rolled-up sleeves in the closet. I can't imagine that's staging.

Is that little hide away in downtown L still in play?

What exactly makes it shitty? It seems like a perfectly fine home to me.

This one is only $300K more, and on a golf course, less neighbors, and blocks from campus. I'm surprised he didn't want more privacy, and more space for entertaining. Oh well, it works for him so do your thing Bill.

I was expecting something a little more like below, with a 1+ acre lot:

How much house are we expecting a 60 year old empty nester to have? What does he and his wife need a 5 bedroom house for?

It's the cookie cutter look rather than the size.

I am more shocked he lives in a neighborhood with somewhat smaller lots rather than having something with more lot size and less neighbors.

It looks like he possibly lives next to the very ppl he probably finds most annoying at KU.  The well off who donate a little bit or have nice seats and therefore think they are due some Bill time.

Agree. The surprise has nothing to do with the sqft or number of beds/baths. This home is more indicative of a coach who just got his glow up and is making $800K annually (Beaty).

I always assumed he lived in one of the houses over by the new FB coach and Doug Compton.

He did.  Sold it in 2022.
