I have 4 neighbors that do this. Two houses where the guy does it and one where guy and girl both do it. Looks really stupid. I do pull though in parking lots, but backing into your garage?!!!?!///11!!!!???

I'm generally in more of a rush when I need to get somewhere than I am about walking into my house/apartment. If one is going to take longer than the other, I'd have it be the one where I am already at my destination. Just makes sense.

To brag about your parking skills.

Parallel parking requires more skill than basic backing, IMO. Evasive backing at high speed, like when trying to avoid attackers and carjackers, requires more skill than both. Hope that helps.

Makes sense if you have a bunch of stuff in your trunk / truck bed that you need to carry into your house.

I back into our garage off the alley, so does almost everyone on the block. Otherwise it’s pretty tough to get out with 2 cars in a 1.9 car garage and about a million trash and recycling cans and electric poles lining either side of the alley.
