Title: Jordy
Post by: Trim on November 05, 2013, 03:35:40 PM
What are the chances Jordy ends up in the nfl hall of fame?  If he continues to be the man in Green Bay with Rogers getting him the rock, I feel like he'll be representing K-state in Canton.

Need our friend Rogers to quit being a FP.  Out for like 3-4 weeks now or something.

I'd like to see him at least make the Packers HOF. Along with Lynn Dickey and Paul Coffman thst would give it three K-Staters all from small Kansas towns.

Could be... Fun fact: he has been called for 5 career penalties, 3 against the Chiefs, none since 2011.  Good, clean, Kansas kid who does things the right way.

That's my fault, I drafted Rodgers in ff.  I should have warned you he was going to get hurt, along with Julio Jones of course.   :curse:

But back to the topic on hand, yes he will be and is next year the last year on his contract extension he signed?  If so, Jordy's going to get paid a lot of money by someone.  Will be interesting to see how valuable Jordy is to GB of it they think it's all Rodgers (which obviously it isn't.)

he has the 2nd most TD catches in the last 3 seasons, tied with Dez Bryant and 1 fewer than Jimmy Graham

The magic numbers for receivers to make the HoF are roughly 12K yards and 85 TDs. Jordy has 4K and 35 thru 5 1/2 seasons... He also has zero Pro Bowls.

I'd think CPR probably called Seneca Wallace after the game and encouraged him to throw the ball, first and foremost, and on top of that throw it to Jordy.  If he doesn't take that advice, I imagine the rest of the season could be pretty stagnant for our friend Jordy.

Was McCartney coach when Seneca Wallace played for ISU?  All I remember is the game in Manhattan where the TV announcers advised to get Wallace out of the game before his confidence was completely blown away by the K-State defense.  Hope Seneca doesn't have any hard feelings about Jordy being a Wildcat.

At first I thought, "I had no idea Jordy was left-handed."  Then, I realized, he is probably right-handed and was trying to take it easy on the other team...but his stud-bossness simply cannot be contained by something so trivial as which side of the plate he stands on.

I played on the same team as Mike a few times, he had this awesome, non-chalant swing that was all just a big flick of his wrists and send the ball yard everytime.  It was a good thing because he wasn't much of a runner or a fielder for that manner.

The reason Jordy Nelson will never be a Jerry Rice isn't because he isn't good.  It's because he plays in an offense where 4-5 different great receivers share the load.  Rodgers has so many weapons, he spreads the ball around.  Jerry Rice was the 49ers main target while he played there.  That isn't how the Packers' offense works so there's no point in comparing Nelson to him because he will never have the stats that Rice had.  The eye test, however, will tell you a lot of things that stats can't.

Yes, I was just coming over to post how much I enjoy watching the zebras frolic as I drive by  the Hudson Ranch on my way to work every day.  And by frolic I mean stand there and do nothing but hey it's fricking zebras, how cool is that?

Jordy nelson got a 11.5 million dollar signing bonus on his last contract, I highly doubt he bought that place as an business investment. More than likely he bought it as a place for his buds like aaron rodgers to relax over the summer while pounding light domestic lagers as they catch fish and pretend to be cowboys for a week.

Not to mention the easy access to direct flights out of MHK.

I met the owner back in the '90's.  His name was Mr. Hudson.  He owned banks in Topeka and Wichita, maybe some other big time investments.  Even thou he has the gourous home on the ranch, he also has a place in Topeka that he stayed at.

i pulled up to the bar at Nelson's landing sometime in May, right after Jordy was drafted.........he was bar tending and it was happy hour....which in a small town means lots of farmers coming in for their quota before heading home for dinner......those dudes would just say "Jordy" in the middle of some conversation to get another round......there was absolutely no celebrity in that setting

although he had just made bank, it was just another college kid working a part time job.......kind of on the quiet side, but very humble

I enjoyed the story.

I get that the "Jordy Narrative" can get old (especially when applied to players that don't share Jordy's insane talent), but dammit, Jordy is one of the best players K-State has ever had.   And I don't think it's crazy for a lot of fans to like him and identify with his small town Kansas-ness.

You'd have to be a pretty big cynic to not love everything about Jordy is what I'm trying to say here.

This  may or may not be related, but there is a downside to all of this.

I have a few buddies who are brothers and grew up in Ashland, KS. Their family are successful ranchers. They are both looking ahead to a prosperous life, but are desperate to find a girl while in Manhattan. That's because when they move home their options will be between bucktooth Sally and using Farmers Meet (which we know is full of gold diggers).

So it might seem glorious, but it aint all glitter and gold.

Grew up in Emporia.  If that was going down in Americus, and I passed through or did things in the Americus area all of the time.

So, unless someone has direct knowledge, I'd say no.

I believe the sign says 520 not 250.  And as is the case with many Kansas small towns, I would guess most of the population lives outside the city limits.  The population that feeds the school is likely somewhere between 1,000-1,500.

Back in the day, when I lived in Emporia, a ton of (often inebriated) Emporians tended to drive at very high speeds to Olpe when they realized they were going to run out of booze too early in the night.  In Emporia liquor stores close by ordinance at 9:00 p.m., but there was that Olpe window after that "Oh, crap" moment hit but people realized they had 15 minutes to get to Olpe.

I was told that there is a lot of Satanic activity in the Americus area. Can anyone confirm?

Grew up in Emporia.  If that was going down in Americus, and I passed through or did things in the Americus area all of the time.

So, unless someone has direct knowledge, I'd say no.

Of course, reality means nothing.  Sort of like the diptards that hang out at Stull from KU.
Maybe you are thinking of Stull? http://www.weirdus.com/states/kansas/stories/gateway_to_hell/http://www.weirdus.com/states/kansas/stories/gateway_to_hell/

"Today, mysterious people guard Stull from disturbances.  Stories abound of curious people being terrorized and chased out of Stull by pick up trucks."

Yeah, the mysterious people are locals irritated by moronic college and high school kids hanging out in a local cemetery being diptards.  That ain't mysterious.

So, if I fill a tub with milk and Jordy flakes, climb in and eat them on the yootubes, do you think Jordy will come visit me?

lithe and supple right serpent arm for silky smooth catches, beefed out veiny left rhinoceros arm for megaton scale stiffarms
