Post retirement Bill is absolutely adorable. It's interesting how the media has changed the way it perceives LHC Bill Snyder. He used to be considered a weird eccentric who scheduled creampuffs. Now he's a classy elder statesman. It probably helps that Snyder has been much less combative with members of the media since his return.

Id say in terms of magnitude, and how much it puts NDSU on the map nationally, this trumps the 2 FCS championships combined. Every football fan knows a hell of a lot more about NDSU than they did after the two championships.
The two championships(and if you want to count the 8 D2 ones) mean more to the program than the KState win. If that makes any sense.
This one is just on a whole new level of awesome.

I'm guessing if Shaq Reed wrote that qb a letter telling him how awesome he was we wouldn't be talking about how awesome it is. Not that it matters but I bet other coaches hate it too.
And carnes is right, its a little god complex-y. And to me it says "You were much better than I thought you'd be, good job little boy" Do you guys think he wrote one of those to Marcus Mariotta or Nick Florence?

Talking to the other team after a game (unless invited to) is a bit douchey, I agree, but a letter seems different and more personal.
I don't really care if he does or doesn't do things like this, I was just curious why someone would have a strong negative reaction to it.
Personally, I would be totally stoked to get a note from an opposing coach after a game, especially a coach as well regarded in the college game as snyder.

It's a backhanded compliment of sorts.

Well Nebraska's standing Os are the epitome of the self absorbed conceited nature of their fan base. We all know how they didn't show this tradition for us when K-State had the superior performance. But some individuals can step aside from their own disappointment and recognize a truly superior performance by a player or team. I don't know enough about Snyder's personal method. We've all heard the god complex-ie(y?) things he has done, but he has done some really gracious things too. Having this come out in this context could put it in the gracious category. A photo op with kid post game while handing him a werther's original from his pocket, very god complexy.

the reason this pisses me off is that snyder was the reason we lost and everyone here could see that the entire second half yet he feels the need to congratulate this kid. it's fine that he did. the kid did well. good for him. it's a nice gesture. While this particular case is pretty cool, I've never understood why Snyder has gone to talk to the other team on a regular basis. But many of our fans think it's just awesome, and I think it's pretty disenginious and frankly a little condescending. It's been a nice turnaround at K-State, and Snyder is worthy of many accolades. But it's not like there's a $hitpile of crystal footballs busting out the walls of the trophy case.

I think my biggest problem with it is that "classy" things just annoy the eff out of me. In college sports, class is for pussies.

I don't have a problem with a note, I just cringe at the visiting the locker room stuff.
It also bugs me that we still run actual plays when the game is in hand and all we have to do is take a knee. It's going to get somebody hurt one of these days and frankly it's just a dick move.

I seem to recall running a few unneccasary plays at the end of games last year with Sams and on several occassions the tackler went straight at Sams' knees.

If I were the QB of NDSU and had just knocked off the reigning Big 12 champion on the road, and then I received a letter from LHC Bill Snyder congratulating me, I would think that was just about the coolest thing ever. That letter would be framed and I would make my coach display it in the school's trophy case.

I do think this is similar to the Nebraska fans clapping and fans of other Big 12 schools, including posters on here, bitched about it forever. Some fans and opposing players thought it was classy, others thought it was disingenuous.

Rowing center - takes up parking space; you'd have gotten to park closer and pak'd longer Saturday if it vanished.
