Title: Allergies
Post by: AppleJack on May 21, 2013, 07:12:04 PM
My allergies are that of a 7 year old ostrich. I am miserable. My eyes looked like some sort of insect laid eggs in them.

When I was elementary school I took allergy shots for about 2 years. It helped quite a bit.

Post by: DQ12 on May 21, 2013, 07:22:56 PM
I take allegra every day and sometimes if it's really bad, i take some benadryl at night before i go to bed.

There's about two weeks in the spring and two weeks in the fall where i really think that if some one gave me an "end it all now" button, i'd be very tempted.  But outside of those two weeks (and so long as i'm not around cats) i'm cool.

I take zrtec(?) and flonase and I haven't noticed a tinge of allergy this spring.  Fall is worse for me but it's been great.

I just wanted to give everyone an update. I was able to find my way to CVS and pick up my Zyrtec and the results are promising. I am by no means out of the woods yet but I bet within the next 6-8 months I'll be back to normal. Thanks everyone for the T's & P's and I leave you in the grace and favor of the lord.

Allegra, Zyrtec and Claritin are all different drugs to my knowledge. I take Claritin one day and Allegra the next, and during the 2-weeks that DLEW mentioned I take both the same day. Seems to work...?

Sounds like the seasonal transitions are getting to some of you.

Before I moved to Chicago (where there are very few trees, grasses that bother me), Nasocort was the only thing that ever worked for me.  I can't speak highly enough of it.  The Winter --> Spring and Summer --> Fall season changes used to make me miserable for about 3 weeks apiece.  Started taking nasocort consistently and it was a non-issue.

My allergies are hit and miss but they are definitely not as bad up here as they were in Kansas.  One of the houses I lived in Lawrence was the worst.  I was fine until I mowed the lawn.  Every time I mowed I'd have slight difficulty breathing and would feel out of breath.  I at first thought I must really be out of shape because it wasn't a big lawn, but eventually figured out I was allergic to whatever type of grass was on that lawn and my throat would swell up.  After that house I've never had another issue like that.  Still don't know what was there that made me react so bad.  Maybe just the Lawrence air...

It's going to suck, but the only thing that semi helps me is Zyrtec. It's really expensive, but it eases the pain.

costco brand is $12 for 365 tablets

also if you guys use flonase, ask your dr for a generic script and get it from the pharmacy, it's $5 instead of $100 or whatever

Yoga just try whatever before you buy the Costco value pak.  You don't want to end up with an entire season supply of nightmare inducing Zyrtec.

Are these canned smoked oysters? You might actually be allergic to the liquid smoke and not the oyster.

Hmm yes. Hmmm I guess I will experiment with my body and compare to unsmoked canned oysters even though I don't really like them.

probably closer to first one. haven't tried tbh. but can't wear like necklaces or rings etc unless its platinum. also can't use alot of deodorants. irritates the skin and a nice little rash and swelling happens. been working in germany for a couple of months now and there was irritation on my thighs. it was from all the euro coins ive been carrying around since it is not a card friendly country. weird allergy imo.

open can, poke with fork, insert in mouth, chew, repeat steps 2-4 until gone, throw away in the kitchen trash so it doesn't stink up my desk

EXCEPT! on this particular day i made lettuce wraps with goat cheese and smoke oysters. it wasn't that good.

She actually gave me the option to walk the dog because I look like a monster after mowing. Maybe take it to the shame thread, but I hope she has fun mowing.
