Arkansas and SMU have also offered Fox, but the next couple of campus trips Fox wants to take are to Kansas State and Louisville. Kansas State has offered, and Louisville has shown plenty of interest.

There are videos on youtube from when he was 12 calling him a Chicago Basketball Phenom. They were made by his dad with captions and everything and they are just awesome, especially this one.

I kind of figure any dad making multiple recruiting videos for their 12 year old son is a big fat liar. But especially the big and fat part because that's probably why they are living vicariously through their son's athleticism.

It will be intresting to see if the connection to the Ill. Wolves through Malek will yield recruits in 2016.  Coach Brooks is creating a good pipeline out of Texas.  I don't understand Baylor's pull though.

We'll see what guys we can still land and how recruits pan out, but this staff currently is recruiting how I've (realistically) always wanted K-State to recruit. Find solid 3 star guys that are high major players and land a few 4 stars when you can.

Recruiting to fit is something oscar's Illinois staff struggled with, IMO. Would have to ask Mr. Bread for conformation. I believe his new staff is doing a better Job at it. Also love how they recruit nationally and not regionally. We need to spread a wide net. Also love how this staff sticks to their guns on evaluation. It was so smart to put a premiums on guys like Foster and Brown even though we are involved with so called higher ranked kids.

Chester and Alvin have been killing recently for how green they are to high major recruiting. I hope both of them become a little more fearless and learn when to take their shots at highly rated kids(:star::star::star::star::star:).

Near the end (when people thought oscar had "fixed" his poor earlier recruiting efforts) oscar appeared to simply chase star-ratings.  He was going after the second-tier local four star guys after the bluebloods took their pick.  Most of them didn't seem to fit his system or at least he couldn't get them to adhere to it and the team tanked and he got canned.

The 2009-2011 classes look good on paper, but they didn't play to their collective ranking at all.  oscar's offense needs shooters and passers, and he recruited guards like Paul, Head and Abrams all of whom are slashers with mediocre to crap poor outside shooting and distributing skills.  Richardson was a decent three-point shooter, but again a crap passer and dribbler.  All were top 100 four star local guys, but over three classes not one of the guards fit what oscar wanted to do and it showed big-time.

Yeah, there are always exceptional circumstances where it could happen.  The problem with those guys though isn't just the competition, but the waiting.  They force staffs to dick around while other lesser, but more realistic kids might decide to go elsewhere.  Nobody likes to be slow-played or second-fiddled.  oscar and co. aren't good enough do that against other power conference shools who make those kids a priority.  No non-blue bloods are.  Very risky.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out in three or four years.  I mean Foster skews everything so much.  If he had turned out to be just any old three star, what then?  Very hard in today's day and age of ubiquitous prep hoops recruiting dossiers that you can find a kid that under-ranked and without big dog interest.  He made oscar at K-State.

Yea the question is if Foster moved K-State success up a couple of years or if he is simply why K-State is having success.

Fosters class at K-State could easily be oscar's best recruiting class ever.

In terms of on-court success/program impact, these are the only contenders:

#1) https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2007 (https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2007)

#2) https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2009 (https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2009)

It's a pretty low bar really.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out in three or four years.  I mean Foster skews everything so much.  If he had turned out to be just any old three star, what then?  Very hard in today's day and age of ubiquitous prep hoops recruiting dossiers that you can find a kid that under-ranked and without big dog interest.  He made oscar at K-State.
Yea the question is if Foster moved K-State success up a couple of years or if he is simply why K-State is having success.

Fosters class at K-State could easily be oscar's best recruiting class ever.

In terms of on-court success/program impact, these are the only contenders:

#1) https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2007 (https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2007)

#2) https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2009 (https://rivals.yahoo.com/illinois/basketball/recruiting/commitments/2009)

It's a pretty low bar really.
Holly crap, 2/3 of oscar's coaching staff at Illinois are now coaching High school basketball. Jesus oscar's had a shitty staff.

I think the worst part is I don't think Jerrance Howard is good at anything except star chasing recruits. I don't think he is a good evaluator of talent or B-Ball coach, Just a guy that can land highly ranked kids.

Also oscar won't be legitimately recruiting five stars.  He isn't cut out for that no matter who he has on staff, nor do I imagine he has any real interest in doing so.
Staff defiantly has to have a big in, to take the chance.

Very risky.
And the 5 star guys are almost always 1 and done so you have to turn around and replace them in 8 months.

Really, unless Barnes really gets rolling again at UT, I think the 3star Webercats will have no problem competing in the upper half of the league and with occasional runs at the Big12 with some luck (a DITR like Foster, a slightly down league, a bunch of upper classmen, etc).

Jabari Craig former USC signee, has made his way to Hutch C.C.   The big thing here is I think he is the kind of guy K-State would go after and might be spending time in MHK anyway for the next two years. He went to Prep school with Tre Harris at Fishburne Military School. He also is from Tucker, Georgia. The home of our guys Justin Hughes and Duke Shelly.

Cob looks like a ghetto hood trouble maker.  Whycan't we get a quality big.  Good runts are fine, but we need a big meat defender, rebouner, and low post scorer like the Bragg kids KU got.

Would nice to land Xavier Sneed would be good for the future of the program, whatever that is. That is a list of schools that we can beat out. He is the one guy that I circled this year as a must land.

Besides that really need to land a point guard in the fall, jfc. oscar still hasn't don't that here yet. Also get a doberman build of a Power Forward / Center. The 2016 class is loaded with good post player and Texas is absolutely saturated.

If oscar is done after this year, i don't think the next coach is going to have trouble keeping the current sign players on. A solid class here with the perceived quality of class 2015 class the next coach will have a good chance to turn it around pretty fast.

If oscar has success this year, he needs a good class so he doesn't fall on his face again.

Very sad to see so much apathy here. This was a good get for oscar. If he can snag Horne this could be his best class.

I know we have four open spots.  And if we're looking at filling what I perceived to be holes in the roster, it looks like this:

PG: Open
SG: Open
SF: Sneed
PF: Open

So, oscar still has work to do.  I looked back on page six and did some reading on Horne.  He'd be a good get.  And I guess the Okogie kid that visited would qualify for the SG spot.

If he landed those three, that would be three Rivals 150 kids, and that would be a strong nucleus to whatever it is he wants to build.  Throw in a point guard, and I may get relatively enthused again if they make the NIT this year and a couple of the young guys (i.e. Brown, Wade) turn out to be studs.

I'm completely ignoring W-L results this season. It would take a miracle for this group to make the postseason. There is a very good chance for the team to be good in 16-17 and beyond if we can keep getting this kind of talent tho.

This probably isn't the right place for this discussion, but we wouldn't be in the "ignoring W/L this season" situation if we kept even half of the talent we recruited.

I guess what I'm saying is that we can pull in three 150 kids, and my thought/expectation is that 75% of them will be gone within two years.  That's how jaded I am at this point.

oscar and 5 star recruiting.   It may look good.  Kind like a king Kong weasel on a transgender wanna be gal dude, impressive but useless.  Getting a 4 star will be a rarity.  Our only hope is growing talent like it done in the Missouri Valley, but as long as Twocoaches is here that likely will not happen.  I hope he lands Jarret or Fox.

Supposedly Cartier Diarra a 6'4" pg from South Carolina will be visiting this weekend.  Ranked 4th in the state.  WSU is taking a good look too.

He hasn't been scouted by Rivals yet. From my understanding didn't play AAU ball. A local South Carolina services has him rated the 4th best prospect in the state, that would make him around being high major recruit.

True, I've been surprised by the quality of 3 star players this staff has managed to consistently find.

Of course there are exceptions. Like we might as well encourage Freeman to transfer if he can't even get in before the walkons, ie. Vulture.

from what little I have seen of Freeman he seems to posses a big 12 level of size and athleticism for a 3 and to be comfortable facing the basket.  You would think a 2-7 team might get him some meaningful minutes consider the tailspin the senior at the position is but I am certainly not a final four coach.

I have been scouring the Internet for a while for information about Diarra.  He is a late bloomer.  He didn't start playing basketball until 8th grade.  He plays for the 2nd ranked team in SC.  Frank made an offer.  We found a very good player not wallygqngled by AAU balls.

That area of SC typically has some pretty good ballers coming up through the high school ranks.

He shooting efficiencies are pretty solid. He shoots well from the line and that usually is a good sign he can be a good shooter some day. He shot 34% behind the arc and that is not terrible. But only 14 makes, isn't super promising. His 2fg% is stupid he just gets to the rim.

With Westicles and Sneed playing that swing 3 spot, seems strange to go after a JUCO guy like this unless we want him to be an undersized four.

It feels like one of two things:
1) Bullnuts isn't what we want him to be
2) Under no circumstance does Weber want Budke to play next year, and this is added insurance that he never sees a meaningful minute again

I guess those two things aren't necessarily mutually exclusive, but whatever.

Wouldn't cry if we lost Ervin, but that's not gonna happen.

By the way, how come Currie didn't mention Weber's yearly practice of shitting on his team by recruiting over them to scholarships that aren't open yet. That's a pretty good #family move if you ask me.

With the way we're recruiting wings, I'd imagine it's Freeman.  We've basically recruited over him twice now this class.

I would agree and not blaming for Webber doing it.  Job is on the line.  I have been not happy with the downward trend of the program as much as annyone and don't take this that I am a fan of Webber, but I am optimistic of his recruits that he has brought in

Of course, we could be recruiting over Ervin, too, with Diarra.

it's fun to see my "lacks work ethic" posts irl

Quote
Not us. Truly felt like this was a kid we wanted based upon Weber's push at the end. If Weber wanted him, I wanted him. Having said that, since he DIDN'T pick us, my rationalizing mind says: 1) I personally was less impressed with his video than everyone else was and 2) There could be some ego problems there if he was losing playing time to others based upon his less than stellar shooting which could have resulted in the next cancerous reaction. Personally, did not like the big to do over picking between KSU and Indiana. Could be indicative of ego issues.

I agree, the ego problems seemed like they could have been an issue. The amount of time that he drug this out and hyped it on Twitter kind of gave me that feeling. I also agree that I wasn't extremely impressed with his highlights when I saw that he only contributed 14 points per game in juco. It's easy to forget because of his athleticism that he is still a project recruit.

Quote
He still retweeted every article regarding his decision and posted all over the place about it. Perhaps he has no ego problems, I guess we'll see in time. I don't think he's going to see much playing time in Indiana though.

Quote
I actually think taking some extra time was smart. BUT, I wonder about a kid retweeting every comment made about him on every board when he's supposed to be THINKING.

This was all so unnecessary. He is not a Perry Ellis. He really is into himself. Bye Bye Freddie

2016 4-star forward Romello White has asked for his full release from Georgia Tech.

He was very high on KSU in the fall. Here was a quote:

"
As it stands currently, K-State is one of those programs that fit the criteria.
"The coaching staff, I really like them," the power forward said. "And what they have with playing time, and coming in and trying to be a leader for the team, I really like that."
Recruited primarily by Wildcats assistant coach Chester Frazier, a relationship White says is good, K-State is on the short list of schools "

White has since exploded up the rankings moving up almost 50 spots and getting his fourth star. There will be lots of schools trying to get involved if he gets his release, but KSU was already in good standing with him.

Romello White.  Is getting released from his National letter of intent. He is A4 star power forward in the class of 16. Kansas state was previously considered one of his top finalist before signing with Georgia Tech. I am hoping. This would make a great addition to Oscar's team. He and Claws would make a heck of a tandem.
