Yeah, BITB is thrown around a lot, but I like Charles Barkley doing what he does better than pretty much anyone else that does that. Brutally honest. Doesn't seem to deal as heavily in media story talking points.
He's great and entertaining.

I think he could have made it really BITB if he went right for white guys perspective on being a pg. He also needs to work on his delivery, definitely needs some pro tips from Sir Charles.

Doesn't matter. I think Doug will be coaching in a few seasons. He went after us. He made a partial ref on twitter about wanting the UCLA job. I think he is on the fence about making the switch. Probs wants to do it but probs doesn't want a Texas State job to start.

I like that Doug appears to know what he’s talking about.
I like that Charles appears to not know what he’s talking about but doesn’t present it as if he does; he simply just talks about what he saw – if he thinks it sucks, he’ll say it and I like that.

i like the nba guys talking about college bball. it's funny to hear them say stuff from a different perspective and sometimes walk all over accepted talking points that they don't know exist.
i also like it that you can see their contempt for college bball. not so much anthony, but you can tell barkley and kenny think they're being forced to analyze jr. high games or dogs playing catch or something.

I think Doug said on Petro last year that he'd love to get into coaching, but it had to be the right job in terms of fit and salary. He said that he couldn't just take any job because his family is accustomed to living a certain lifestyle based on his ESPN salary, and he's not willing to move down from that.
So, after the CBS move, I think he priced himself out of a ton of jobs if that's really a criteria for him.
And I agree with ChiCat that I don't think many, if any, high majors would take a risk on him for the money he'd ask for.

they released the individual journalists' all-nba votes, and everyone voted AD first or second team except Taylor didn't include him on any team (1/2/3)...DG then says she shouldn't get a vote b/c she is just a studio host and not an analyst (=she doesn't necessarily know what she is talking about)

He carried out gE's OOD directions. But as to hiring him, it was that he was popular in college basketball and on normal ESPN and could get us enough good recruits to keep Frank's work rolling for a few more years at least and when we'd be in a better spot to hire after he'd have moved on from us.
Instead, we got oscar, and gottlieb fell into a life of crime and grift.

I'm not a big Le Batard fan but he understands that the personalities need ESPN more than the other way around. Once a lot of these guys leave for a payday, they miss the spotlight and become shitty hot-take guys (as 8man pointed out).
