Yo dax -

Fun fact about that 1968 conference championship:  it was a co-championship with OU. OU beat KU in Lawrence that season.  Their previous conference championship was in 1947.  Also a co-championship with OU.  KU and OU tied that season.  Their previous conference championship before that was in 1946.  Also a co-championship with OU.

Kansas's most recent outright conference football championship was in 1930.

1 winning conf record in the last 17 seasons.
1 win in their last 33 conf games.
0 conf titles since we first landed on the moon.

No worries.   I see a 6-6 season and a bowl game this upcoming year.
Then in 2-3 years when Charlie's recruits have molded into a fine fighting machine, they will be in the discussion of teams that could win the Big 12.  I am sure the resident squawks will concur with that.

I meen , no way the streak gets to 50

Just looked at KU's 2013 schedule and I think they have a solid chance to win their first conference game against Tech.  It's at home, KU has a bye the week before, Tech won't be very good next year and GQ Swagger will have some first-year HC growing pains.

I'm so glad k-state is awesome at football in these volatile times when football is all that matters.

If conference reallignment were World War II, KState would be the US, the reluctant participant in all this bullshit who has a 5 heart army and the rough ridin' a-bomb.  KU would be Belgium, defenseless in the tactics of war, but with really nice bridges that the Germans (SEC) blow up just because its funny to them.  The US has great bridges too, they just don't waste a eff ton of money on them and talk about how they wished wars were won based on who had the most nice bridges.

Hey man, bowl game appearences determined by subjective polls, back room negotitations et. al.  Are far bigger than championships determined on the field of play.

Well... KU is one of a handful of current Big 12 teams with a BCS Bowl victory.  Plus, KU leads the Big 12 in NFL hall of famers.  K-State, on the other hand, is one of a handful of BCS programs with zero national championships in any team sport.  How many years has K-State played sports now?  You do the math.

Beems I do give you credit for being just like the typical ku fan.

In the one sport you're really good at, you guys brag and brag about winning conference championships, and do threads titled, "Things that happend since K-State won a conference basketball championship" that go on for page after page.

But in the major sport that ku isn't so good at; now losers of 20 consecutive conference games, and 26 out of the last 32 conference games, every other achievement is far more important than winning a conference football championship.

All that means is #45years is just killing you.

Sorry bro, but excellent attempts at invalidation

KU leads the Big 12 in NFL hall of famers.
Weird thing to brag about.  Even weirder because it's not true.

It's true if you exclude coaches and administrators.  KU and Oklahoma = kings of the Big 12.

It really is hard to fathom that Colorado has won a Big XII game more recently than KU.

this is just a fantastic stat. i really hope ku gets it together so we dont have to dredge up talking points like this anymore

It really has to sting that KU has three bowl wins since K-State's last one, especially for a fanbase that constantly tries to convince itself that its football program is big-time.  No post-season success in any sport is really killing hayseed nation.

But I'd have to think losing every conference game for the last 2 and a half years probably sucks more.  Who could know for sure though?

Losing bowl games sucks, but seasons that result in playing them are infinitely more exciting than seasons that end in firing head coaches.  Not sure why anyone who just went 1-11 would try and act like their bowl wins from 5 years ago are somehow more relevant than a Big 12 title and Fiesta Bowl appearance.

the number of people who care about KSU's bowl losses is roughly equivalent to the number of people who care about KU's orange bowl win.  all of the KU/KSU football fans and no one else.  who wins/loses bowl games means very little outside of the mnc, the key is to get there, get your name on television ads, get the extra practice time and the payout for your conference.  the game itself is relatively meaningless on a national scale.

Depends on how good Heaps is.  Next year could be a repeat of '04 if things work out the way they did the last time K-State won the Big 12 and went to the Fiesta Bowl.

Beems really is the best.  Probably as good a fisher as our very own national champ.  Having said that...

K-State - 8-4  Lose most of our D and stud QB.  Luckily we have 2 other stud QB's and the best O-Line in the league.  D will slip a little, but not more than 3 games worth.  Also,  :bill:

KU - 3-9  Certainly a talent upgrade on paper, but that hasn't amounted to much in the past over there.  Still, if Heaps even performs like a 4* athlete, that should be enough to get a couple more wins than last year.  Still may go 0-fer in conference play.

The only 3 I even see as winnable are Texas Tech, West Virginia and @ Iowa State.  I don't think they would be favored in any of those.  Their best shot is Texas Tech because its their first conference game and after a bye week.  Its looking like another 1-3 win season for them though.  At Rice won't be easy and Louisiana Tech only lost 3 games last year by a total of 20 points (1 L coming to A&M by 2).

Well... KU is one of a handful of current Big 12 teams with a BCS Bowl victory.  Plus, KU leads the Big 12 in NFL hall of famers.  K-State, on the other hand, is one of a handful of BCS programs with zero national championships in any team sport.

You can finally stop with this talking point. We made a BCS game last year and are up 2-1 in that category

Next.

They won't be favored in any of them, but they won't be such heavy underdogs that they should expect to lose all 3, either. Weis should be fired if he doesn't win a conference game this year, and if I were a KU fan, I would want him fired if he only won 1.

Why doesn't anybody's predictions of KU's success weigh on the fact that Charlie Weis is a really shitty Head Coach? Notre Dame for example.

Just for the record KU will lose atleast one noncon game and I have them winning 0 or 1 conference game. No more than 1. KU's ceiling record is 3-9.
Yes, Chuck said Heaps is #1 going into spring practice over Cummings.  I would hate to be KU fan and watch him repeat the mistakes of last season all over again trying run his pro-style offense.  It is bad enough when he embarrasses the conference with this losing to mid-majors bs.

Has any one won running a pro-style offense in college?? Teams have run the west coast offense and been successful but it takes tons of talent.

Pretty sure Bama and LSU run pro-style offenses, though NCAA 13 tells me Alabama has a "one-back" system  :dunno:

Under Pete Carroll, USC had a pro-style offense

Next.
but, but, but they won theirs'.  :D

QB takes almost every snap from under center and he is usually a pocket passer - only runs while scrambling on a broken play.  Most formations have a fullback and two TEs.  Run the ball to open up the pass, and only pass more than you run when the clock is working against you or you're down by a lot.

funny thing about some of the Ku flock is this.   They think their team will be improved and this is fine.  I dont think they will get 4 wins but them predicting 4-8 isnt the stupidest thing i have ever heard of.   But they have to combo their optomism with Kstate taking giant steps backwards, like us having a losing record

Ku going 4-8, Kstate going 5-7 and KU getting the close victory in Lawrence because both teams will be about the same.   :runaway:  Most of them just dont want to think that KU will be a  4-8 team, Kstate will be a 9-3 and Kstate will win in Lawrence by 21 points
