Maybe Prince was a genius to coddle Freeman at KSU!   :Secrets:

Quote
Schiano waffled on Freeman as his starter after the Bucs finished last season with a 7-9 record. Then Schiano suggested in May that rookie quarterback Mike Glennon, the team's third-round pick in this year's draft, could compete for the job. Every now and then Schiano would find a way to say enough positive things to intimate that Freeman was still his guy, but anybody could read between the lines. Schiano has never really convinced the masses that Freeman is his long-term answer at quarterback.

It's perfectly acceptable for Schiano to feel that way. The problem is that he's sent too many mixed messages to a young quarterback still in need of a supportive environment. One league source said Freeman's people were so miffed by Schiano's ambivalence earlier this offseason that they even floated the idea of a trade to Kansas City, Freeman's hometown, before the Chiefs dealt for Alex Smith. The Bucs shot down that possibility -- claiming that Freeman wasn't going to be traded -- but that was only the start of what already has been a long year.

Freeman and Schiano have the kind of problems that even Dr. Phil couldn't fix. CBSSports.com reported that Freeman is likely to ask for a trade before this year's Oct. 29 trade deadline. Freeman also was stripped of his captaincy in a vote by teammates that some have suggested Schiano rigged. Freeman also didn't help matters by going all passive-aggressive and missing the team photo recently. At the very least, especially with Freeman in the final year of his contract, it's hard to see these two men co-existing in 2014.

I wonder if he's hit a 1000 chicks yet and made that bronze male genitals of himself. That's all he ever talked about at parties before passing out on pool tables. Best of luck, Freems. He wanted that more than the NFL.

Nope.  Looks good for KSU to have a starting QB in the NFL.  I hope he gets picked up somewhere else and has a HOF career.  Would be great for him to be KSU's first NFL HOfer.

I think he needs a thicker skin.  Maybe this will help.

Seems simple to me, he's 11-23 as a starter since a great season in 2010 and he's off to a horrible start. Sounds like he and Schiano don't see eye to eye, so getting out of Tampa is probably his best choice anyway.

I had it on good authority shortly after that lost KU game at home that, that was exactly what freemaw was doing until 3am the night before our 11am kick off.   I always blamed that more on Prince being a shitty coach and not reining in that sort of behavior.

1. Bishop

9. Kavanaugh
10. CCQ

Solid. After 5, it becomes a wash in my opinion.

1) Bishop
2) Roberson
3) Beasley
4) Klein
5) May

I think May and Freeman are rather similar.  Both had cannons and could sling it.Both were arrogant. However, May was a winner and had command of his teams.

For kicks, best LB.....

1) Mark Sim
2) Buhl
3) Spani
4) Pierce
5) Brown

I don't know what is so weird about not liking Freeman as much as the other QB's I listed.

Those other guys built the DOD, and/or secured a title.

Is there some other criteria I am missing?  Freeman did really pronate his hand on his throws, is that what you guys liked about him?

If they had started Dylan all year in 2006, we probably still would have went to, and lost, a crap bowl game.  :dunno:

I am not bothered that Freeman is a poor pro.  I don't care how these guys do in the NFL.

I'd have to put Klein at the top. He didn't make big plays but he was pretty much always consistent and one of the toughest mofos to ever play the game. Bishop second, even though he turned it over about 4 times a game. Then Roberson for his interviews. It's pretty much a wash after that.

If your best attribute is simply not turning the ball over, then that's a pretty soft argument. What was CK's signature game? MB's performance vs. Nub in 98 was the single greatest performance by a QB in K-State history; 446 total yards and 4 TDs. Also tough to argue with 22-3 as a starter...

Shut up about fantasy football, idiots. No one cares.

Its weird that you guys watched Freeman play, but didn't actually listen to the broadcast or any of the post game analysis. Seemed to be almost unanimous that he was set up to fail by being asked to start and throw so many passes without knowing the offense in Minnesota at all.
He didn't know the depth the receivers run on their routes, he didn't know the o line blocking calls, he didn't know where to find his check downs. He was flying blind. He's been there for 12 days and remember since the new collective bargaining agreement the practice time is pretty limited.

He'll be fine, its obvious the Viking coaches have given him the job for the season.

I think all of that has merit, he still had a historically bad night throwing the football. It's bizarre he was asked to throw that much though.

well the NYG did a pretty fabulous job of making AD look like a garbage running back (somehow) so Minnesota had no choice but throw it all over the place.

MIR I think Freems will be fine there but that doesn't mean we can't gawk at a historically awful outing.

I care guys.  eff MIR.

I actually thought Freeman looked pretty good with how that pocket kept collapsing on him the entire game.  He did sale a ton of passes but that is to be expected being thrown to the wolves like that.  He will only get better.

The two biggest plays of the game were his INT when he threw the ball up for grabs while getting tackled (on a 2nd & 2 at the 23) and the 14 yard sack he took to take them out of FG range (3rd & 3 at the 23). That's 6-10 points that he cost his team in a low scoring game.

Freeman sucked last night. End of story. Knowing the playbook or not does not excuse his inability to hit a 5 yard out or 10 yard curl route.

He won't succeed as a Viking because he has proven he is a consistent loser. Sad thing is any average QB could have quite a career in Minnesota given their run game.

Imagine a KSU QB who led his team to:
a record of 15-16 (10-11 conference)
0 bowl wins
29/64 TD to INT ratio

who after 61 NFL starts yielded:
a record of 20-39-2
57/100 TD to INT ratio

vs

another KSU QB who led his team to:
14-18 (9-14 conference)
0 Bowl wins
44/34 TD to INT ratio

who after 60 NFL starts yielded:
a record of 24-36
80/67 TD to INT ratio

I wonder why one would be considered one of (if not THE) greatest QBs in the history of the school and a "winner" and the other regarded by many (if not most) of the same people as a clear failure?

I don't think anyone is surprised.  I kind of feel bad for him, but then again I don't.  This is going to sound very tuck-y, but I don't think he was ever a coach-able player in college or the pro's.  He made a lot of stupid errors he never learned from, and unlike most successful NFL QB's did not improve as he aged.  He got by from his raw talent long enough to turn some heads and make some money but he peaked too fast from not putting in the effort to fine-tune his natural abilities.  #tucktalk

Freeman just never put it all together.  Was probably drafted too high.  Would have made less money probably but would've had an easier time staying in the league as a backup.  Has a stigma about him now and, even though I am not his biggest fan, I can't help but feel it is largely due to Schiano being a nutcase and Frazier playing him after he was with the team for a week.

Matt Cassel didn't have the added benefit of playing for HCRP.

Freeman has never received a fair shake IMO, and the farcical start he got in MIN was proof to that...wasn't it < a week after the signed him? Then he played awful (predictably so) and now his career is over? Pfft...I can name 25 QB's that are going to be out of the league before Freeman

I'm just glad he will have a chance to run the offense for longer than a week this time.

He'll never see the field once the season starts unless the g-men oline performs like it did last year and gets Eli killed   It seems like Coughlin doesn't even let backup qb's come in during blowouts.

Ifff he doesn't break team rules or get in trouble off the field.  I'm ok with his deep bench status, but I miss being able to point out that a starting QB in the league was a former Wild Wildcat.

This is so GD effing stupid.  Nassib sux balls and taint.  They didn't even give Freeman a chance, when they found out Manning was able to go through OTA's, Freeman was done.

Story about Nassib

Nassib struggled with accuracy a year ago, and a Nassib pass on Thursday that was picked off by Charles James provided one of the day's lighter moments. When James picked off the ball a reporter blurted out, and I'm paraphrasing, "that's progress. At least it was close enough to receiver to get picked off."

Freeman has that taste once again — well, for one week, at least. He was working out in Kansas City when he got the call from the QB-needy Indianapolis Colts. Either he, Ryan Lindley — both were signed Tuesday — or Stephen Morris will get the nod Sunday for the team’s must-win finale against the Tennessee Titans. (The Colts need a win and a lot of help to win the AFC South.)

I'm sorry I actually have an opinion on things and don't just go around, slapping asses on other peoples posts like M^2. I don't have hate for Sams, but I hate how everyone crap on waters because of Sams leaving. Frank preached a lot of things while he was here. He also went against a lot of that when he left for a lower tier job. I don't think most of you like douche bags, but if you do, go for it. All my encounters with Freeman, suggested major douche bag. I was cheering him on last Sunday, but who gives a eff, right? I just thought it was silly for MIR to jump on someone for thinking "he looked humbled from the experience". So anywho, Freeman wasn't amazing or anything. That INT was at least half his fault. And they had to rely on a defensive score to beat the very bad Titans who had an atrocious backup qb. But I still hope it indicates Freeman can get a job as a backup somewhere in 2016.

Hi Mocat. I should update anyone who might still be interested . . . My granddaughter's husband became verbally abusive less than a year after they tied the knot, wanted her to quit grad school and start having babies, and most of all, to stop spending so much time with friends. Eventually, they got into a big fight and he started throwing things against the wall and she had to lock herself in the bathroom. Yada yada yada. She moved out. The divorce is final. He tried to talk the security guards into letting him into her new building. Sent her weird things. Her new building was infested with bed bugs. Felix Rex gave good advice. She seems to be rid of him. And she just has to finish up her thesis to get her M.A.
The End.

There's two kind of posters on this blog. Followers who piggieback #hottakes from the mods and then those that actually share an opinion and get crap on by the follower crowd. Guess which squad Meow Meow is on...
Which kind of poster am I?

Also, I don't remember Freeman as quarterback. I really didn't give a crap during the Prince years. So in my head, he's not really a wildcat.

For sure.  LHCBS never banged Bunny in Hays, making him late for a powercat function.  Would be interesting if LHCBS did something like that, though.

Twitter was launched in July 2006. It was made specifically for the Prince era. Where were you?
