Sorry for the low BBCIQ, but why haven't we fixed the awful stain job on our court yet? Is this super expensive or something, or was this intentional?
Also, the powercat used to be way worse. It was this huge blob that wasn't even the right color. Still could be smaller, though.

The EMAW U court would be pretty great if the stain wasn't so contrasting. Oregon's probably looks cool in the stadium, especially from the upper levels, but looks pretty bad on TV.
Nothing can be worse than Colorado's court from the early 90's.

That is one of the worst logos in the history of logos. Right below the turquoise cursive "Cats" above a regular basketball that preceded it.

One of my all time fav courts was from the 90s at Virginia. I can't find a picture online, but the baseline and sidelines were black, or dark blue, and it had 3 thin white "pinstripes" that went all the way around the court. I always like it and wanted to copy it.

i hate the 2 stain courts.
i always really loved the blue, state of kansas midcourt for KU during the 90's, but their current court is one of the top 5 worst ever. the jayhawk is just an ugly rough ridin' logo.
i searched for a few minutes and couldn't find a picture of the old ku court though :(

The stain is probably a little dark, but ours is good. I appreciate that they included the octagon purple outline on the outside.

It's certainly an upgrade and the octagon was a nice attempt. The biggest problem with the dark poopy color of stain is that it's visually too close to the color of the leather basketball and it's visually distracting. As are the bush league gradient colored Brigg's logos. It's also just a design thing, but filling the semi-circle at the top of the key with the stain also does not work.
It's a bunch of little things that add up. Again, good attempt, and it's much more on brand, but it could have been considerably better.

The court doesn't look nice in the empty arena photos, but I never watch a game on tv and think the court looks bad. I do notice the octagon outline, though, which gives them a free pass on everything else imo.

I can almost get my mind there, but it irks me that the dark stain was a mistake by the flooring company (if true), and we haven't made them rectify it yet (...if true).

Our court actually looks pretty good. Stain could be ever so slightly lighter but I like the idea. We actually tried something somewhat original. Court outline looks slick. We can do better in 10 years.

As a Duck, I'll admit that on TV the Duck floor is pretty difficult to get use to. I think the floor contrast is difficult for the cameras. I will tell you that in person, I really enjoy the whole arena and the floor looks pretty cool.

None taken, Not sure I completely understand the "consistent with the state of Oregon" comment. We do share the state begrudgingly with the rodents from Corvallis. The golf club I belong to has an annual golf tourney to determine which flag flies for the next 12 months, Ducks or Beavs. Can you imagine going to your golf club and seeing a KU flag all year!!!! The tourney format needs adjusting or the Beavs will always win. Black and Orange is just difficult to look at all year.

#watchus is a pretty sad hashtag for the #12/8 ranked team in the nation. It reminds me of the Minnesota Twins' "Get to know 'em!" campaign during their 2001 rebuilding year.
Seems about right for a Mo Valley school.
It's kinda sad how every school in Kansas has some sort of crippling insecurity about itself in some way or another :frown:

WSU is the perfect storm for mid major butthurt. They are in state with two major schools, that don't play them, We play the occasional high profile "neutral" site game there, and they are having a good run allowing their fans to think they are equals. WATCHUS is just perfect for them.

The font/kerning for "Welcome to the Thunderdome" is terrible. If you're wondering if the logo is a UFO or a hat, it's a hat. They're the Gaucho's, and that hat with the weird lines under it is the "magic hat" version of their logo.

While the athletics department prohibits tortilla chucking at basketball games, the tradition is celebrated today at soccer matches – only after goals – and never during play or directed at fans or opposing players (this act can lead to an ejection, penalty on the home team and a possible end of the tradition). The only after Gaucho goals tortillas tradition is part of a great game-day atmosphere.

Seems like among the tiger eye, the standard logo with the tiger head above "LSU", and this one (which is apparently the one from their football helmets), their branding is sloppy.
I think that court is ok. I wouldn't cover up the tiger's face with LSU, though.

Their fans are pretty awful, rowdy, disgusting. A girl I know was playing there for the Beach as a visitor (vball), and they put the bench right by the students. This guy was calling this girl a whore and this and that so the girl turns around and spit and her spit went right into his mouth. :ROFL:

That's pretty great. Hec Edmundson Pavilion is really really great. It's been around for like 300 years but they've updated it enough that it's pretty rad. History AND some modern amenities. It's probably what tucks think Ahearn should be or whatever. AND I SAW TY WILLINGHAM THERE TAKING IN A HUSKYCAT GAME! :D

I think that I agree with this wholeheartedly, as I cannot find an example in this thread that I like. However, if it's going to be done, I prefer the stain to be darker inside the arc than outside of if.

Only thing I really don't like on that list is the yellow'y tone of the wood in the Dean Dome. Other than that, all of them were fine. I do actually like Indiana's classic court design, but yeah, typically I prefer the lane to be filled in.

It's amazing. Cheesy a.f. but it really draws you in. It's got Shaq and Penny playing very prominent roles. I watched it in the theater in Hutch the night before we whipped newton's asses at substate basketball. It's on my list of movies that I'll immediately stop on and watch all the way through of I know it's on.
