These take, like, rough ridin' 8 hours or more to put together. And guess what? If you think you can cut corners on the stuff that's merely aesthetic, you are wrong...because guess what, again? That rough ridin' block is almost certainly critical to the entire god damn thing fitting together!
eff YOU, LEGOS! YOU ARE WAY rough ridin' HARDER THAN YOU WERE WHEN I WAS A KID, AND YOU GOD DAMN KNOW IT!

Ts and Ps, Pete.
-
Why do you have to put it together? Can't the kids do it themselves? :dunno:

Not when you are a jackass and ignore the age direction on the box.
-
Love Legos. My nephew and I were rocking them out a couple days ago.
-
Taking 8 hours to build is one thing, wait a couple days until they take them all apart and build something else.
-
I do love the Lego video games though. My boys are conquering Lord of the Rings right now.
-
can't imagine putting together monster fighters legos, now- a tiefighter? X-wing? m falcon or death star ? Let's chat.

My house has done mainly Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit.
-
My son tears through these things. He did the death star by himself over the course of 4 nights during a school week...at age 7. He doesn't take after me.
-
Lol, my 2 year old knocked out the Death Star during her nap.
-
Watching them slowly die and dissolve into the giant bucket'o'legos is the worst part.
-
Lol, my 2 year old knocked out the Death Star during her nap.
Congrats! Does she take after you?

She is a major badass so absolutely

Too expensive IMO
-
I think some of my lego masterpieces are still intact on the top shelf of my closet at my parent's place.
-
Too expensive IMO
They're really expensive. But so much fun.
-
When I was a kid I thought the space Legos were the best (they were). As I got older I started to enjoy the town Legos a lot more. I built this town that was run by a crime syndicate. The boss or his goons would drive around to all the businesses of this town and do shakedowns and collections on the business owners. Then they would drive over to the Police Station and pay off the Police Chief and then take some drugs from the evidence warehouse.
I think this change in my Lego enjoyment happened right after I saw Goodfellas.
-
There really is nothing better than Legos. Everytime I walk by them in a store I get the urge to buy the biggest set they have. I just want to put them together. Then again, I also enjoy assembling modular furniture.
-
I was at target last night and impulse purchased the dva/rein Lego set and put together dva when I got home. Very fun.
Now trying to decide if I want to spend a few hundred on a large set..

It appears we have a budding Lego-maniac on our hands!

Ooo let's see pictures! I assume they're default skins?
-
Yeah, defaults. The bastion one looks really cool
-
i never played with legos as a youth.
-
I almost bought some of the architecture and technic sets a while back. I think putting them together would be good stress therapy.
-
Lego sets and puzzles are very relaxing and centering. Like, you can be all stressed out and then you put that thing together and it chills you TF out. Also drugs does this.

Steve dave, what if I told you both legos and drugs were in my chill zone last night?

-
those are great. does baby d.va fit in her mech too?
-
Yes she does
-
A couple months ago my kids and I made a stop-motion video with legos. It took like 4 hours and then was 5 seconds long. It was very bad.
-
Picked this up at the toy show over Presidents Day weekend. Put it together today. Great therapy for 4 hours.

Yeah it's easy to rack up a large bill. The lunar lander and iss ones are two of my favorites.
There are a lot of custom lighted displays and stuff on Amazon if you're interested in that.
-
Do you guys watch lego masters? My family loves it.
-
I buy lego sets near retirement and hold them for 12-18 months then sell them for lots of profit

Lil SB is obsessed with Winnie the Pooh and also Legos so naturally I am a superdad and spent a pretty penny on the Lego 100-acre Wood. And my goodness the whole thing from beginning to end was heartwarming.

I don't have that creative part of the brain but admire those that do. I have to follow the instructions step by step or my kids lego sets are jacked. I almost inevitably mess up or there are lost pieces and I end up in a fit of rage and have to basically start over because my stupid brain can't just look at it and figure it out. I am jealous of those that find this stuff relaxing.
-
it would be impossible for me not to give that thing irl sea trials

This constructioncat built a hydro crane and an excavator last weekend :Carl:

Same for me. My kids can assemble complicated sets effortlessly.

The video didn't even show one of the cooler aspects, the ship breaks into 3 sections so you can see the decks inside. How nuts is that? :sdeek:

Building sets with instructions is like super easy, even the adult complicated ones are relatively easy and lego has gotten so much better at it ove time. Bags with numbers, an instruction set you build in piecemeal in a logical order? When I was a kid it was just a grab bag of bags you you had to search, it made it much more difficult. The worst set I've built was the statue of liberty ones because all the green and like the same 5 pieces got hard after a while.
I think you just have to have enjoyed it as a kid. To me it's therapeutic, kinda like hand drafting. I think it's the ability to see tangible progress without a lot of effort that probably is the sell for me.
To me the hard part is if you want to make something new on your own, it's the real big step, to me lego sets teach you techniques. When you create something 50% of the battle when you have a giant box of legos is finding the right goddamn part, the other half is learning to implement those learned techniques on something new. Once you get good at it it becomes fun again but it is hard right out the gate. That is kinda the cool thing about like lego masters or the lego movie explore, the "follow the instructions" vs "figuring it out on your own", it's just a big part of life, and design in general.
-
The hardest part of building huge lego sets is that it rubs your fingertips raw

Got this today. According to the person who helped me they are discontinuing it soon, got the last one they had in stock. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211107/012c24fec5fef0f19e32b2672d61c246.jpg)

Not a lego but still, "lego like" it's pretty cool.
Sidenote, won't surprise me if lego does a John Deere or Case IH set at some point
