Did you get your Gluhwein on in germany?  I buy a bottle every year and try to like it - which will be tonight - but end up having to chew it down.

Pretty sure you take whatever cocktail you usually drink, remove ice, add cinnamon stick, then microwave.  Bam, hot toddy.

I add honey to mine as well.   Usually made with bourbon or whiskey.

Homemade toddy, for when I have a sore throat but want to drink a little anyway: English breakfast tea, lots of honey, shot and half of whiskey. This is about the only way I drink whiskey. Other times is when it's a whiskey drinker's birthday, I will take one, and only one, whiskey shot with them.

This is great, euros are all in on their music.  Was at Crown Center rink last night and that song wouldve cleared the place.

OTK wife not thrilled about me cooking Gluhwiein before her cooking dinner tonight, so I'm like I prob hate this wine and hate brucektball so let's just get to the end of this.

Red Romeo (formerly known as a Todd Haley):

-2 shots extremely cheap vodka
-fill up rest of glass with red bull (doesn't matter what size glass)
-add enough grenadine to make it red

This would typically be consumed in the Union basement in westport, but you can make it yourself at home now kids!  :D

It's a great cocktail. Basically a modified Aviation. If you like mezcal sub out the gin with a good one. Then it is a Last of the Oxacans. The HiLo in Manhattan serves it with a serrano pepper shaken in it.

Side note- this thread is pretty embarrassing for what I'd expect from goEMAW. I'll blame it on the delayed reemergence of the cocktail scene though.

Thanks. Will try tonight.

To your side note, it is pretty awful, my contributions included.  I got Dave Arnold's book "Liquid Intelligence" for Christmas and have been working my way through it. The Last Word spec I used was from that, although just as part of a more comprehensive list rather than a detailed technique or drink.

Guys, I think I’m turning into a Martini dood. Really enjoying it. A very classy and efficient way to drink.

My personal fave-
3 oz Dry Gin stirred in ice then strained into a glass that’s been “washed” with dry vermouth, and garnished with about 6 olives (no extra juice)

two of these suckers is a perfect night cap

Don't listen to the haters, keep it up.

Advice from a another very classy poster (Chingon):

1. Switch up the garnish every once in a while (lemon peel, pickled onion, pickled jalepeno slice, etc)
2. Use French vermouths (and don't listen to the "rinsers", use a real amount of it -- it tastes good!)
3. I like a shaken one about half of the time, the bitty ice pieces are a little burst of joy

Dash of orange bitters
Wiped and garnished with an orange peel.
Stirred not shaken

Saturday I went to Mae's and had a double ketel and fresh squeezed lime juice with a lot of ice in a pint glass, then had a hamm's on the side and filled in the drink with hamms as I drank it.  Just wonderful and refreshing.

Espresso Parmesan Martini

Pinch of salt
1.5oz espresso
1.5oz vodka
.5oz coffee liqueur
.5oz simple syrup (I subbed a dry sherry on an IG real recommendation)
Garnish with freshly fine grated parmesan

This actually works really well.  Next one I make I am going to add a bit of sweetness to it.  Maybe not simple syrup but stirring in a drizzle of honey into hot espresso before adding to shaker.

Think of it like dipping a biscotti in coffee.  The parmesan lends the same salty-nuttiness that biscotti does.

Rieger Distilling has a coffee amaro that is the tits. You can probably find it in Texas. Pretty sure they distribute down there.
