Title: Things you know about North Texas
Post by: pike on March 14, 2010, 10:47:11 PM
It's somewhere in Texas
They think they're really accomplished for being Sun Belt champs (lol)
They are really bad at football

That's about it. Seems like a school on the same caliber as FHSU, Baker, or Washburn

Football coach was really good in highschool.

His son plays QB for the team.

Can't remember their name.  Wanna say Dickey or something.

I took them over in PS2 football when I was looking for a crappy team to start a dynasty with that would have scheduling flexibility.  :dunno:

Some old timey NFL player matriculated there. Pretty sure it was Ed "Too Tall" Jones.

Frank Hernandez.

Also, their stadium is wicked Busch-league.  See what I did there?  Because there's a big-ass Busch Beer sign on it.  Also, weak stadium because it is right by the interstate, it has a track around it, it seats about as many as 3 of Westloop 6's 6 cinemas, and they probably haven't won a game there in a million years.

Try this one on for size: They have a state of the art McCain Auditorium thingy at UNT, but the building is all architecturally advanced which really just means it looks like a weird alien/bug thing.  Something you'd see the M.I.B.s take down.

You guys are great. Can't wait for Thursday!

Are you going to do that "Rock Chalk" thing, or do you save that for home games only?

Thanks.

I'll be gracious and say that you guys are probably slight favorites in the "We Lost to Oklahoma State Showdown"... But we're not conceding defeat yet.

Another thing I know about UNT/Denton:
-When my sister was visiting there for college, I was in fifth grade and I got bored walking around the campus so I went back to my parents' van and finished reading My Teacher Flunked The Planet.  (The theme of that book fit in nicely with the aforementioned academic building that looks like an alien/bug thing.)

When I think Jazz, I think about the suburbs of the Dallas metro area.

When I think of rural Kansas, I think of Children of the Corn.

It's why I get anxious every time I've made a road trip to see us play you guys in football.

My mistake. Didn't mean to insult the cash crop.

"Boomer Sooner", or whatever you people say to each other to demonstrate peace, friendship, and brotherhood.

Probably just stick with, "We own Texas."  Specifically refers to UT but since we'll be 6-0 against the state of Texas in hoops very soon it fits.
