Good, now we can double the crap out of Metoyer and take him away.
-
Add two more to the list although Jackson was already gone apparently:
@SoonerSportscom
Coach Stoops: Quentin Hayes, Trey Franks, Kameel Jackson, Jaz Reynolds have been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules.

Targets will be slim for Landry. Bet Stoops will use his line up of RB's to win games. Or he's got a shitload of receivers that can play.

Sheesh... Big game bob is really losing it. You can't get by on your good looks with everything bobby... You need to keep that talent around and happy.

I don't think OU is going to be great by any stretch. They haven't been able to run in what seems like forever. Also, they were rough ridin' brutal without Broyles. If they are losing Reynolds, then they could really struggle.

McCay might have actually seen the field.

Oh my.
We could win at OU now. And if that happens...

The only thing that could stop us now is a BOMB. :ohno:

We're not going to win at OU. My goodness.
-
We're not going to win at OU. My goodness.
You're probably right, but this news certainly doesn't hurt us.
PLUS, we might not win there, but them being thin at receiver hurts them and could contribute to them slipping up somewhere. If OU finishes with 3 conference losses (even if they beat us), that would be great for our conference championship hopes.
This is good news, no matter how you slice it.
-
Watching the KSU Cats get repeatedly tea-bagged by Jazz Reynolds last year in MHK was one of the low-lights of the season for me. Glad to hear something unpleasant has befallen him.
-
hey morons, pretty sure bob suspends players "indefinitely" before every season and they end up missing the first half against college of charleston.

Let us believe. Just for a bit.
-
Dudes, I was at the game when we beat them down there the last time (long, long ago). The Holidome didn't know what hit them after that doozy.

What about for those douchebags that like to play people at full strength so there are no excuses?
-

Oh heavens no. But the Kats might be able to stroll out of Norman with a nice solid moral victory like back in 2009.

newsflash: Bomar wasn't going to be the QB at OU much longer anyway. Bradford was waiting in the wings.

OK_Cat sure is quite sensitive about all things Oklahoma.

i know it's the offseason and we're bored, but none of those players will miss significant time. act like you've been there before, ladies.

"There's no update," Stoops said when asked about the suspensions of Reynolds, Franks and Hayes. "(They) have been removed from scholarship and we aren't counting on any of them."
-
I was at the game in 2004 when we sent out the punt team sans punter. And Brandon Archer looked back there, saw no punter, and then was like "welp, that's strange" and then turned back around and got ready for the snap instead of telling the center not to snap the ball. And Allen Webb got sacked about 30 times.
That was the day I knew that the DOD was officially over.
And now it's begun again. But, since 2004, I basically expect a dick punching every time we go to Norman. That game scarred me for life.

Even the sportswriters bury this in the bottom of an article like it is an afterthought. "Nothing to see here except a the dude's career is over (of yeah, all of those guys that Bob suspended, well, that was just for the summer, so they aren't really suspended. You didn't think Bob would really suspend them, did you?"
-
 at each and every one of you who thought even for one second that those guys would be suspended for any significant games.
The tried and tested, "We aren't counting on them".
The old protracted summer suspension sit out the first half of College of Charleston routine. Bob had that one over on the side of the desk, didn't even have to rummage around in that lower left hand drawer for that one.
-

DOD officially ended 9-11-04 when Fresno State beat us 45-21--I knew something was wrong when the the TV announcer said that the Bulldog players were pushing around the K-State team pregame. At first, I thought DOD was still on when we scored a TD off a Fresno State turnover, but then we got a thorough ass-kicking from there. RIP DOD.

I don't know how anyone talks about this game without mentioning that a guy blew himself up a couple blocks from the stadium after trying to get into the game to blow himself up inside the stadium.
It's absurd that isn't more publicized. I GUY TRIED TO BLOW UP A BIG 12 GAME!

Irregardlessly of the year, it was the same as no-punter game.

Nittany Lions' leading returning receiver and punt returner, Justin Brown, who will reportedly spend his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma. Brown will be immediately eligible to play in Norman under relaxed transfer rules for PSU players, assuring his new team one of the deepest receiving corps in the nation as his now former team clings to the few viable playmakers it has left.

http://espn.go.com/blog/big12/post/_/id/52782/sooners-dismiss-wr-kameel-jackson
While Jackson kept his scholarship during his suspension, receivers Reynolds and Trey Franks were stripped of theirs. OU put Reynolds and Franks back on scholarship earlier in the week, but Stoops said they would be suspended “multiple” games.
I reckon it will be two games to make sure it is "multiple".

3 thirds games is multiple, right?

If I were Stoops, I would let those guys serve their suspensions during the second half of games where the Sooners have a multiple touchdown lead.

This is so rough ridin' stupid. Hasn't half of the team been suspended in the last 8 months? What a joke. Bob is just toying with NCAA and National Media. I won't get excited about anymore suspensions because if the ones that have already been issued were to actually stick we'd be playing Tuttle HS on Sept. 22.

Regardless of how I feel about OU in general, Bob Stoops seems to be the kind of person that would probably have given a serious thought to allowing his team to boycott a game, had this occurred during the football season. I don't know that I could name very many coaches that would have done that, but I hope HCBS would be in the group.
Black athletes should know the power they have on a campus and can easily remind fans that if they choose to sit out, the team will struggle to compete.

The university closed down the house and expelled the 2 racists they could identify in less than a week's time. I'm not sure what else anyone thinking about boycotting a game would want from them.

If you think this is merely about what happened at OU for black males, then I can't explain starting with Trayvon Martin, the Ferguson incident and what occurred in Madison Wisconsin.
There has been a rash of issues in the past couple of years that can only be stopped as it was in the 50-60's boycotts. Nothing has changed in America for people of color. It is time again for blacks to show solidarity. In fact I have thought for several years that top 300 black athletes should show just how much power black males wield by focusing on a university that has been historically open to blacks, by attending that university and turning their sports programs around. To assure that it was not a fluke, they should pick a school that has been historically a bottom feeder in a sport such as ISU football. That would get the attention of America.

I guess I just don't equate a situation like this where justice was swift and effective to other situations where people actually died and there never was any justice whatsoever.

Look to the vine of the house mom acting like a fool. This isn't a minor one off instance, this is an example of a culture which condones racism on a generational level. Look to the lyrics of the song, it isn't about now but obviously something which has been passed down the legacy lines of SAE @ OU. More should be done, more should have been done.

I understand your point Rage, but from my perspective as a middle aged Black male, It's a culmination of too many issues recently. I agree wholeheartedly that OU handled the matter swiftly. Yet as someone who was born and raised in Oklahoma, I saw this as another quick solving of a problem, with no intent to resolve a conflict that has been around as you know for centuries.
The response from OU although admirable was another proverbial band-aide being put on a wound that requires amputation. This is bigger than what happened at OU and albeit I am opportunistic in what I am suggesting may be a good time to assess once and for all, the collective unconscious of America.

Why not? The black community has always been more successful in getting things done when they take issues into their own hand. Blacks currently have a voice in the entertainment industry, namely sports. You really don't think the NBA had Donald Sterling removed as an owner because the other owners thought it was the right thing to do?
With very little effort black athletes and their parents can for the next 10 years, our best black athletes are not going to be recruited. Instead they are going to honor those schools that historically allowed blacks to attend by recruiting the school(s). I don't think it would take long for those schools who historically did not allow black athletes like the Bamas and pretty much everyone in the SEC and former SWC to realize that if you want our kids to attend your schools, you may want to do something more than give lip service to the community and become more proactive in changing the culture of the US.

Jason Whitlock a had running theme in his old KC star column similar to this but his twist was that 5 star black athletes should go to a historically black college (Howard, Florida A&M, etc). I could see this happening with elite basketball players but not football as the infrastructure is just not there.

uh, no they didn't because Mixon would never have played a down for OU if it came out. The couple of writers that saw the tape said he just blasts the 5 ft, 100 lb girl clear as day on tape.
I heard the city of Norman has 20 days to file the appeal, so they do that at 4:55 pm on 12/23, the paper work sits over the holidays and boom, he plays in the Sugar and gets out of town before the video comes out.
It will be fascinating to see what it does to him in the draft, Ray Rice is a 29 year old former pro bowler and not even my Chiefs will touch him in a playoff run with a wide open league because of the video.

OU wasn't getting rid of Mixon, get real. Show the tape at the time, suspend him a season, and nobody is talking about it in December 2016.

Before his improbable rise from nowhere — before he won the Biletnikoff Award, became a finalist for college football’s most coveted trophy and constructed one of the best seasons in OU football history — Westbrook was twice arrested on family violence complaints, according to police reports and court documents obtained by the Tulsa World.
In 2012, Westbrook was accused of throwing the mother of two of his children to the ground. In 2013, Westbrook was accused of biting the same woman’s arm and punching her in the face with a closed fist.
OU began recruiting Westbrook in the fall of 2014, the semester immediately following Joe Mixon’s high-profile arrest for punching a woman in the face. Near that time, OU linebacker Frank Shannon and transfer receiver Dorial Green-Beckham had also been accused of violence against women.

Four of the players involved missed three home games this season due to a restraining order filed by a victim of an alleged sexual assault. They were allowed to play road games, and once the restraining order expired, they played at home as well.

Right after the publication of this post, the Minnesota football team gathered and a player read a statement demanding a reversal of the suspensions, a private meeting with university officials, and immunity from retaliation against players or coaches. He urged the Holiday Bowl committee to be “patient” and said that he wanted the chance to “make our program great again.”
How fitting

So they are protesting players missing the holiday bowl because of the assault? Or was that some stupid tangent?

They were protesting because they thought the suspensions were unjust, because criminal charges were dropped. But the protest ended hours ago.

ESPN can shove it where the sun doesn't shine! Those dudes suck some serious butt. They are currently bleeding money from people cutting their cable subscriptions. My hope is they will fold like a lawn chair and we got some real sports coverage on other networks without the liberal ESPN agenda.

Boomer fans are the true victims: "Keep in mind that people have an agenda and in this case it's not concern for the woman who got punched. My Dad, a long long time Sooner fan, told me..."Son if you decide to go to Oklahoma and be a Sooner fan you are going to run into a lot of jealousy". And then he smiled and said, "you gotta love it"."

I really hate college athletics sometimes. You take something like "is it ok for a ~225 pound male athlete to KTFO a girl and then run away?" and when it is a star football player people STILL find a way to justify it.

Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested early Saturday morning in Arkansas.
He was charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and fleeing, according to the Washington County (Ark.) sheriff's office.

Oklahoma redshirt senior QB Baker Mayfield was arrested in Arkansas and charged with public intoxication, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and fleeing early on Saturday morning.
Per a police report obtained by ESPN, an officer was flagged down regarding an assault and battery accusation at around 2:30 a.m. Mayfield was on the scene and said that he was trying to break up the altercation. He was told to stay (in order to take a statement), at which point he began to yell profanities. When Mayfield was asked to come over to give the statement, he began to walk away, then began to sprint away before the officer tackled him. Mayfield was reportedly showing difficulty in walking down stairs, had slurred speech and his clothing was covered in food. The star quarterback was eventually handcuffed. He is set to appear in court on April 7. In a statement, Oklahoma said, "We are aware of the matter and are learning the details." This past season, Mayfield threw for 3,965 yards and posted a 40/8 TD/INT ratio.
