what's the goal of this sandwich? What time of day will it be eaten, by whom, and what season of the year?
Did I just get done mowing the yard before eating the sandwich, or am I about to sit down and watch a game?
There are sooo many variables that need to be pinned down before this can proceed further.
i know i'll get spit on by the cheese nerds-guilty pleasure. It tastes good but it is the most hayseed of all cheeses.

Nope, that would be cheese curds....which are also delish
boars head cracked pepper turkey breast, an interesting inclusion for going "all out" on a sandwich.

This is great timing, because I just made the perfect sandwich last night.
Roast beef (medium rare, thickly sliced), honey smoked ham, drizzled in homemade ranch, with cheddar and parmasean, on multi-grain bread, thrown on a panini grill.
Is it possible to have the perfect sandwich without a panini? No, it is not.

Hi Stevesie, usually fully enjoy your posting. However, I have to wonder why you went with the hayseed route of putting ranch on roast beef instead of the solid horseradish sauce/roast beef combo.
I think a lot of people in this thread don't like to work together.
That said, Chings FTW

in jalisco. pretty easy to make, if you can buy precooked carnitas.
If we're all going to join in and contribute to making the perfect sandwich, I think we all know that it must include roast beef and be either toasted or panini'd.
I agree with the panini'd, I think it must include some form of pig

This needs to be a poll, where we vote best:
bread (buttered, EVO, etc.)
meat
cheese
veggies
fixinins
prep method.
Star with bread and vote it in and we all get to make the champ and report.

I certainly promise that I will make at least 2 batches of the winning sandwich and take pics, and give my thoughts on its taste, presentation, ease of prep, etc.
If we're picking independently, then Limestone is going to be eating a terrible sandwich.
Why has this continued so long? The perfect sandwich is white bread, brisket, and barbecue sauce. This isn't that hard folks.
I vote that we pick independently and that limestone has to eat something terrible

I second slightly toasted sourdough, depending on how this goes, i may switch slightly toasted to panini'd. Are we talking roll or a couple slices? I vote a roll. The more crust will help to hold in future juices
Can it be butter toasted? If we are going with a roll, it about has to be butter toasted, right?
I guess we can butter the outside only. butter is not really great on the inside. Seems like something Charlie Weiss would do.
Here's a neglected genre of sandwiches....Indian. Why don't we see more Naan and chicken tikka sandwiches? :dunno:

I have no qualms with this.
Is there an upper limit to how many meats we can include?
mocat is a good poster. I'm glad you post more now.He kinda came into his own through time. Good for him. I did my training in the dunning-kruger dome.

which do you prefer, hot sandwiches or cold sandwiches?
Almost always prefer a cold sandwich.

throw some salami, ham, and capicola on a hoagie, little Italian dressing, onion, whatever else you want. Wrap that bitch in foil and throw it in the oven for 15 minutes on 350 and you have yourself a delicious hot sandwich
Are there still Cinnamon's deli's around? Olathe had one growing up. Loved their hot sandis.
houlihans has a good french dip.
I like both hot and cold. But I wouldn't heat up a sandwhich with lettuce and tomatoes. But I would if it was mostly meat and cheese.
if you ever find yourself at the corner of ocean park blvd and 16th in santa monica and don't feel like walking over to tacos por favor, well do i have a sandwich for you. That looks really good, Clams.

thats a great photo of a sandwichI used to work at Boca in Topeka. Pedro taught me well. :D
Is that BH corned beef any good? Im craving corned beef today but I don't know if I feel like going through the process to make my own. Also, Im hungry now. Guess I could throw some in a crockpot and enjoy when I come home half plowed tonight.I thought it was pretty good. Would have been better with kraut and swiss. It wasn't as good as crock pot corned beef though. The horseradish cheddar was superb. Could dig some more kick in it though.

I didn't know that jt still posted here. Hello, jt!
Sandwiches are kind of overrated. The bread takes up so much space in your mouth that you're basically covering like two-thirds of your tastebuds from tasting all the good stuff on your sandwich.Important and true point

Sandwiches are maybe the best culinary invention ever. So many options!

AST did it, the world’s greatest sandwich. All by himself too.
Smoked brisket and roasted hatches on 3 pieces of toasted marbled rye. With horseradish mayo, swiss cheese, & romaine. That is a bear of a sandwich. The romaine looks wilted and seems like the sandwich would have been better without. Thoughts?

There's no way that is not a stock photo, it looks too perfectCheers mate.
at least clean the plate off for these photos you heathen
I am very jealous of AST's sammiches. They look delicious, but I think I cut my gums just looking at those picks. I apparently have weak gums and really toasted bread tears apart my mouth like I am chewing on glass.
what's everyone's favoritereubenpastrami samrecipe/hack? I liked the ones at Rock A Belly and Porters in MHK when I lived there. I have a couple favs here in omaha. I like a pastrami reuben better than a regular one a lot of times. also like mustard instead of russian a lot. depends on the meat though.

I sometimes like a bastardized version with cole slaw instead of 'kraut. If you sub the corned beef for turkey and do this it becomes a Rachel :surprised:

Guys, how long is lunch meat good for? I have some sliced Boarshead cajun chicken that was bought on the 27th. Will I die if I eat it?Only 8 days since you bought it? Chow down.
It’s the second best sandwich after a simple cajun turkey, provolone & mayo sandwich, preferably consumed on a ski lift in February.
This was about the perfect sandwich for lunch.
NY strip sandwich medium rare. Onions, mushrooms and melted provolone on a garlic hoggie

Why is a cutting board even part of the equation? I swear to god Greg you come up with some wild crap. The reason I ask is you make a masterpiece of a sandwich does it need to go on a plate?
Does anyone else eat their sandwiches straight off the cutting board or do you always use a plate?

Mayo, Sometimes Dijon
Iceberg Lettuce
Maters if they look nice
Vlasic Dill Stackers
Mezetta Hot Banana Peppers
Fannestill Party TIme Ham
Sharp Cheddar from the Hyvee Deli Counter.
