What was the first moment you knew you were EMAW to the core?
Mine was 1995 when we lost to Colorado at home. I knew the pain it caused me was greater than any pain I would ever experience because of something non-EMAW related. Have been EMAW ever since.

Listening to the 93 KSU at Minnesota fball game on the radio at my aunts house while all my cousins were playing outside. young nicname went bezerk when we won that one. I cried when we lost to BYU in the Cotton Bowl. young nicname was also devatated when KSU hoops lost to Tulane in the 93 NCAAs, couldn't believe we lost to them.
fun story about nicname and KSU sports. my dad took me and a friend to the KSU v MU game in 94 right after we had just won the Copper Bowl. Anyway, after the game was over I went down to the court to try and get autographs or something. we lost and none of the players were there, but guess who was!? KSU star running back JJ Smith and he autographed my Big 12 basketball. then I went on the court and took a 3 pointer and drained it. then they kicked me off the court.

1996 Inaugural Big XII Game against TTU. It was my first K-State home football game. There was no turning off the K-StateO after that.

Man, I was a "part" of each the ones listed in this thread so far. 1993 was the year for me...
The pain and understanding listening to Mitch in the parking lot after we tied CU that year, and telling us that "if a tie was like kissing your sister, our sister was Christi Brinkley." I was like, yep, you nailed it Mitch.
I still get emotional when I think about listening to Mitch in the parking lot after we beat OU in 93, hearing Mitch say "Listen to me CLOSELY!" over and over...and then he gave his "Red Sea parted speech." I had rough ridin' tears in my eyes...
I miss the crap out of crazy old Mitch.
It's not reasonable, and I'm not really proud of it, but I small part of me really did want to die 1998, just to stop the pain....

I thoroughly enjoyed this story.

he's right on this one. It's pretty bad. It's like my "why I'm skeptical" post on ksufans. jesus christ what a hilariously embarrassing moment.

16-12 ksu over ku in 1991 i think. First game i ever went to, hearing the croud chant fk k u and then storming the field after the game did it for me.

Mitch was a big part of being EMAW when I was in the gestational emaw period.

I was sort of a quasi-KSU/OU fan from '96 to 2000 (though I had to sit next to the OU band in '96, so I super ultra hate them from that experience). In 2000, my girlfriend at the time (who was an LSU fan) worked at the Holidome where the OU team was staying. She would tell me how each team handled themselves while staying there. The OU team more or less pissed, shat, ejaculated, blew their noses, etc. all over the place and the coaches apparently DGAF. I decided to put all my eggs in the EMAW basket at that point.
-
2002 game vs USC. I was at highschool homecoming dance and was pissed cuz my date wouldnt make out with me. Buddy comes running up and tells me we beat USC and all my problems go away.

man, my "I believe" post on ksufans still makes me cringe.

'94 KU game...Thursday night, we watched it in our football coach's basement, 20 5th graders split down the middle KSU-KU...another poster on here was there as well.

i love simultaneously reading goEMAW and watching OWN.

i know right

1988 NCAA run and Elite 8 loss to KU.
-
1998 when I decided to go to school there.
-
March 27, 1988 sucked pretty hard.
Don't think I smiled for about 2 months after that.
-
aTm 1998 still stings a little.
-
In '02 when I watched our lady wildcats get beat by Old Dominion in the Sweet Sixteen. I have never shouted more obscenities or felt lower in my life.
-
My first semester. Pasco Fiasco.
Knew I was in for quite a ride.
-
skipping playing "hide n go seek" on LK to listen to the consolation round of the 1998 Maui Classic (we beat Clemson iirc)
-
Third generation EMAW, so basically was bred Purple. Yet, the 1988 KSU vs. KU game in Allen Fieldhouse sealed the deal for me. Alumni section, buddies parents had season tix, 5th row, and took me and him. I was 14, in purple sweats, purple sweatshirt and screaming loud for Richmond and Henson. Richmond scored 30+, don't remember the exact number and Henson sealed it at the line down the stretch. I was nutty all game and on the ride home. Never got asked back.
First home football game experience was against North Texas. After they beat those low-lifes the students rushed the field. Since been all EMAW at football games and only missed a handful since.
-
Listening to Chad May make multiple sub minute game winning drives in the early 90's with my dad in the garage... and then jumping around like we won a championship or something.
-
2001 loss to A&M at home. Was my freshman year and I got WAY more angry than I had expected. Was a casual fan from about 95-2000, but being on campus sucked me in.

Since birth bitch.

Weird Roberts was your wet nurse? :horrorsurprise:

After attending my first and only Cats - Kwho game at the Allen FH in '72 :dunno: , the Aubrey Nash fake injury foul call and the smug Jayhawk fans all around me, created a hate with absolute passion for KU and Ted Owens and turned me hard core EMAW.

Listening to the adventures of the purple popgun twins on the old AM radio...
-
NU '98...watched with my mom...jumped up and celebrated like we won the national championship. Also cried when I saw a Briggs commercial with "Good Riddance" playing showing highlights of Michael Bishop. I was 6 fyi. :emawkid:

didn't know you were so big time fff
I would have to say listening to the 1995 game at cincinnati on the radio where lockett pulled it out at the end, and mitch went crazy at the end and I'm sure added 79-283 big bigs, had to be my first full on EMAW love story, after that it was full on non-stop emaw, 1998 put me in a dark place, 2003 helped me to get out of it
-
Throughout my childhood when I would cry like a little bitch because my parents wouldn't take me to road games with them.

Copper Bowl

Moneyline was +500. I bet $50 on the Cats and won $250. :kstategrad:

Copper Bowl
THIS. Watched it 3 feet from my grandparents' wooden-cabinet-looking-dial-channel-changer TV. There was no turning back at that point.
-
I knew 100% after I hit my mom in the face after I was crying in '98
-
i'm way too edgy and cool for this type of stuff

Given the time I bet I could transcribe that word for word from memory.
-
98' vs. A&M was the biggest bitch slap of all time. I balled like a little bitch. Sometimes at night, I can still hear the crying...
-
when i slapped my cousin during the fourth qtr of the '97 Nebraska game for saying "K-State is not good" (was only 6) and then thinking the world was all mine after winning the game Fiesta Bowl that year
-
I'll be the true grandpa on here for you guy's. The year was 1961 when I took a campus trip by train from KC, Mo. Before that, having grown up Catholic, I was somewhat of a ND fan and listened some to the Sqwaks. That trip and experience sealed the deal for me. I've been a EMAW ever since. :bracketmouse: :lynchmob: :ksu:

and here i thought we had some weird deviant into scat stuff - nope, we've got the real deal (great?) grandfather of emaw. possibly also on our coaching staff. mods? :cyclist:
-
Glad to see cyclist finally made the transfer.
-
became a mini-emaw when mini-tobias' fam moved to kansas in the mid-90s. rest of the family are all squawks except big sis. don't recall the exact transfer from mini to full-fledged emaw though. :embarrassed:
-
1988 NCAA run and Elite 8 loss to KU.
This one.
Listening on the radio in the backyard with my dad to us beat North Texas in 1989 and Mitch Holthus celebrating like we just won the superbowl.

was at that game with friends. no family. just friends. pretty great. little daris and co. ran out on the field and tried to help tear down the goalpost.
-
Not being able to sleep the night BEFORE the Copper Bowl. I'm thinking this is crazy, it's just a game....
-
EMAW since that devastating loss to Tulane in the '93 Torn-a-ment.
-
Ekeler flip
-
The 1996 Cotton Bowl game against BYU. I was only 7 and had never even seen a KState game before, but something about that game lit a spark in me and I was pissed when they lost. Been EMAW to the bones ever since.
