Title: NFL Draft

Love the crap out of the draft. Cannot stop reading about it. 21st pick kinda sucks though  :frown:

Yeah, I love watching it.  Don't know why.  Pretty boring when you think about it.  Still love it though.

Who do the Chiefs get in the first round (or whichever team you follow)?

Maybe a WR?  Tons of goods ones this year.  They need a OT but this class sucks balls at that spot.

Denver will probably get a DT at #2, or trade down and get a LB or a DB.

Seems like all the pros agree that there are tons in there and for this reason, a first rounder shouldn't be wasted on one.

Seems logical.

I have no clue what they should do.  Seems like they really need a LB, though.

I can watch up to 3 picks. I've never made it further. I'll just get online after it's over and see who got drafted.

The thing that really really really bugs me is that before the pick is even made, they show the guy on the phone jumping up and down, kissing his mom, etc.
Then Goodell comes up and announces the pick, takes all the suspense out of it.

Oh, I get online each day of the draft. I just can't watch it on tv. There's just way too much time between picks.

The draft is exciting when you have big names on the list. Blaine Gabbert and that tard from Washington are the best QB prospects? A bunch of DTs and DEs going in the top 10?

False. A bunch of Euro white dudes and "projectable" "rangy" kids from small schools I've never heard of.

Important Note: I hate the NBA

I like the part where it only takes a couple minutes for them to pick a player they already know they are going to pick.

Instead of 15 or whatever it is in the NFL

LOVE when random player comes out of the stands when he is picked in the 2nd round of the NBA draft - even moreso if said player is non-US born

I think I heard them say this morning that for the first round(since it starts so late to be in "primetime") they only get 5mins. could of miss-heard though.

Also, pretty sure the Chiefs will take OL or DL in the first round.

Really want the Eagles to get a top tier pass rusher too.

Chiefs should probably get a QB.  One that isn't Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).

Denver will probably get a DT at #2, or trade down and get a LB or a DB.

looking like we may get Von Miller? no trade down.

Buffalo would take him at #3 so I can see why they don't want to try to trade down for him.  Since switching back to the 4-3, we will need another quality LB.  Would be kinda "Meh" on that pick, though.  Most exciting thing they can do without being mentally Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) is trade down to 5-10 and get Patrick Peterson.

would love peterson. champ doesn't have much left. then again, neither does dawkins. all sorts of problems on d.

They definitely should have. There are so many receivers this year that they could have waited another round or two and gotten a receiver with comparable ability. As for OL's and DT's, their talent drops off pretty quick after the first round this year. Wasted opportunity.
Title: Re: NFL Draft
Post by: jtksu on April 29, 2011, 05:43:51 PM
I actually liked the Chiefs' first round pick.  There was really only one OL worthy of a 1st round look and had to hustle to bulk up to just over 300lbs.  Yeah, there were some nice DLs but Pioli seems to trust that the guys he drafted will be able to do the job.
Title: Re: NFL Draft
Post by: Stevesie60 on April 29, 2011, 05:52:52 PM
Carimi seemed like he would have been a great OL get.

However, Pioli seems to make decent picks so I can't criticize him until Baldwin falls through and Carimi goes to a Pro Bowl.

Always feel bad when a dude tumbles horribly in the draft.  Wasn't Bowers like a top-10 candidate?  That's a lot of waiting for that poor guy.

Always had the mentality that no other sports teams matter besides K-State basketball and K-State football.

I think maybe you're misinformed about what "bandwagon fan" actually means.  If you were a Dallas fan, yes.  Chiefs fan, no.  Unless you only like the Chiefs when they're good.

Proximity isn't a good enough reason for me to cheer for a team. Hell, KU fans use that one all the time. I don't cheer for Witchita State just because I reside close to their location.

"Bandwagon fan" wasn't the best phrase, but I'm not sure there's a term for what I'm trying to describe.

think the nfl is a little different than college fandom. usually physical location or previous physical location is the reason to become a fan. that way you can actually go to games. just imo, though.

Yeah, you're expected to root for the pro teams that are closest to you.  I'm even turning into a bit of an OKC fan because I can actually watch games there on a fairly regular basis.  Plus, Durant is a totalt badass.

Yeah, you're probably right.

The other thing I'd like to add is that in fantasy football, I see guys take players from the team they cheer for and then get screwed over because of it. I'd rather be unbiased and just choose the best pick.

Also, back to my original argument, with the time I'd be devoting to an NFL team, I'd be missing out on time that I could/should be devoting to the Cats. Ya know?

oh dude, you don't see me going out and drafting Knowshon Moreno or Tim Tebow (wish i would have picked up lloyd though  ). you don't have to be a homer. i think its doable to be both an nfl and state fan.

I was actually thinking the Chiefs might take Stanzi in the 4th.  Turns out he was still available in the 5th for them.  A decent backup option at QB.  Probably not a Cassel replacement.
