Title: BBS'ing transparency thread
Post by: 'taterblast on March 08, 2011, 05:36:24 PM
ever since the  :dubious:  emoticon was put into place, i have not known what it meant. the word DUBIOUS is not part of my vocabulary. i had to guess whenever it was used what the word meant exactly. finally, i went to dictionary.com today and discovered its true meaning.

so there, goEMAW.com. judge me as you will.

I am generally considered (for better or for worse) to be the board grammarian/proofreader, and usually I accept this role because somebody has to clean up this piece of crap place.  But let me tell you, there's one thing I really, really, love: funny replies to threads where the respondent uses all lowercase and no punctuation, even if they're asking a question.  crap makes me laugh all the time.  Steve Dave is really good at it.  Often times I want to do it myself, but I am always concerned people will judge me as being a hypocrite.

does this include "wut"  , because i am not a fan of said response.

i'm not a fan of people putting a question mark after it....kind of ruins it

IMO, the emoticons don't NECESSARILY mean EXACTLY what the they are called.  It's all in the context of how you use them.    Internetting is an art, not a science.

OMG, guys... guys.  I just spent a good 10-15 minutes on The Birther Pit (?) thinking it was Combo Fanning... I was like WTF did this place turn into.

This happened, pretty much, IMMEDIATELY after leaving this thread.  So I had to come back and be transparent about it.

Has this sorta thing ever happened to you??  (I could've said no 15 minutes ago  :embarrassed: )

So, by "transparency," it seems you mean, "tell me about crap I don't get."  Is this correct?

Effing p*ssy, team cancer, etc. Supposedly Prince called a player this term at some point during his tenure.

he called Boss a rough ridin' pussy about being injured and made him quit.  everyone on gpc and fans would call players team cancers whenever they would quit.  it had begun to spin out of control with defections and when AE was announced as leaving (at least I think it was AE)  I posted the link with:  rough ridin' pussy, team cancer, etc. to get it all out of the way.  Sometime after that it was shortened.

Solid Long Term Hire.  When we hired Huggs and later Frank everyone in the media and from other programs said we should have made a solid long term hire like Bxzdelecheck, Doc, McNeck, etc.  We then began to compare the careers of the solid long term hires to the careers of our apparently weak short term hires and pick out traits that SLTHs have.

EDIT:  Also Mark Fox thanks to dumbstick

If this thread keeps going, its going to eliminate the need to lurk for months or years deciphering the lingo before posting. Not sure that's good, could reduce eliteness.

I have lots of great ideas for pictures and stuff but I don't feel like making a photobucket or imageshack accout to post pictures on here.  I guess what I'm trying to say is I'm lazy.
