And Bob Knight is not a good announcer. It's nice to get some coaching insight during a game, but he over does it and is Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) about it. And half the time I think he is watching a different game.

I like the fact that Knight isn't like every other announcer. He's got his flaws, but overall, I enjoy his input. I have a feeling you guys just hate him because he criticized K-State left and right during the Texas game.

I closed down pheasant season in Dodge City and he hunted on the same land we hunted the prior week. I was cleaning birds with the landowner and he told me Bob Knight shoots hens on purpose. He said, that he questioned Knight when he finished the field (caring 4 hens in his vest) asking him, "why are you shooting hens on my property on the last week of the season?" Bob's answer, "I am color blind" and walked away from him. The guy said it took everything in him not to punch the old man.
Anybody that is a bird hunter knows what an absolute dick move this is....Frank you Bob.

Because this is what Bobby said last night, and this is not a direct quote, paraphrasing, "I don't think there is home court advantage. I don't think it effects the home team, and I don't think it effects the visiting team too much either. But if I had to say, I think it's harder on the visiting team." WTF does that mean? Everything that comes out of his mouth is like this. He treats everyone watching like theyre 5 years old and have never watched basketball. He's like John Madden in a sense. I want to know something that only elite bball minds would know, not what my 2 year old nephew already knows...Good Lord.
And I don't think it is correct to blame officiating as the reason teams lose to KU because that isn't accurate, what is accurate is that most borderline calls and BS phantom calls go KU's way, you get the calls, and if you can't see that then you're blind. You're no different than UNC and Duke. I've talked to many KU fans who admit they get the calls and admit that you've gotta play the refs a little bit when playing their team.

Seems like every time i watch them, they are curling off screens and shooting from about the elbow. Thought i randomly heard a talking head explaining that this is the first year in a while Coach K has a group that can consistently hit them. Could be wrong.

i'm sure you're right. their players are good shooters, and mostly have good size, so you'd expect them to be better than average at mid-range js.
re. their offensive stats, they shoot really, really well from 3. not great from 2. but they don't take a lot of 3s. it's logical to assume their offense would be even more efficient if they did more of what they're really good at.

This is true. Here's one I've been working on. It placed at a little private chili competition recently, so it shouldn't be too bad.
Fry 4 strips of bacon. Keep the grease in the pan.
Dice:
1 green bell pepper.
1 poblano pepper.
2 serrano peppers.
.75 white onion
1 clove garlic.
Saute' those in the bacon grease briefly, then add 1.5 lbs ground hen and get it good and brown.
Meanwhile, combine in your stock pot:
4 cans kidney bean
1 can diced tomato
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 teaspoon salt
1 bay leaf
3 teaspoons light brown sugar
3.5 tablespoons chili chowder
5 shakes Tabasco
5 dashes Worcestershire
Crumbled bacon that you fried in step 1.
Pinches of thyme, oregano, and cumin.
~ 4 oz. of a brown ale or stout (ie, Guinness), and ~1 oz. whiskey.
Add hen once it's browned and let it all simmer at least 2 hours.

If people like the taste of pheasant so much why don't we just domesticate them? Like a couple thousand years ago people were all like, "hey this chicken/cow/pig tastes good but I hate having to go hunt it down all the time, why don't I just put it in this fence."
Why not do the same thing with pheasant/deer/whales? Hunting just seems like such a hassle.

Fran is one of the most hard working analysts in college basketball. Does he over-talk at times and say stupid crap? Yep! However, when he stays in his lane he is great and waaaayyyy better at breaking down what is happening than Knight. His slobbering over KU, OU, and the Texas schools is annoying but I can tolerate it because he knows what is going on in the game. He prepares, it will be a welcome change.

That's what he should do. Knight should be a studio guy and they make a list of stuff to break down, then let him do it. He could do it for multiple teams, then ESPN could just pull the clips during games when those teams play. He has no business being on the air for games anymore, but his breakdown of the game is still very good and could be used. He'd probably enjoy that more too.

I really liked Knight at the beginning of his announcing career. Dude says some obvious crap, but sometimes is more insightful than anyone out there. It has gotten pretty bad though, it's sad to see someone lose it. Also WTF were we doing with Juevol Myles on the court in the last 30 seconds of a close game?

IIRC it was after the "Overrated" chant started.. that day Bobby Knight wanted to give us all a lesson in sportsmanship, he suggested the chant not be "Ov-er_rate-ed" but "Choke-a-play-er" "Thanks-for-play-ing" or "Guuh-uuh-eff-ort"

Fran isn't a dumbass...he's serviceable, and maybe a bit better than that. That said, Knight knows basketball like Fran never will.
