Title: Tapas
Post by: Pete on January 14, 2011, 03:22:55 PM
Love them.

La Bodega just opened their second location at Town Center in Leawood.   Now, I can have tapas without traveling as far....is very good for me.

Yes, very good.  Enjoy eating 15 different things instead of, like, 2.

Lazy, socialist, spanish cusine is scrumdidliumptious.  AND, Sangria makes me feel as high as a Georgia pine.

Really like La Bodega's food.  Really hate paying $15 for four shrimp and still being hungry.

It's pricey.  On a date, you'd better plan on spending > $100.

put lemon soda in the wine (not a sweet soda).
put soda water in the wine.
put a cola in the wine.
put beer in the wine (mexican, but counts).
put just about any juice in the (white, bubbly) wine.

but sidra's still better than all that crap.  good old fashioned sidra.

Was so disappointed my first week in DC when I ate the "the tapas bar" in downtown. Just terrible. Pretty much the tapas version of Lebanese Taverna.

Then I realized that what really sucked was my knowledge of DC tapas bars (and the alleged "amigo" that recommended La Tasca").

Had a greasy yet beautiful Spaniard bartender at a different place teach me how to make sangrias.

I'm gonna take you to this great local hole-in-the-wall place. Very historic. Called "Five Guys". Used to be the site of the city's most notorious brothel.
