Title: My biggest worry...
Post by: Fuktard on January 10, 2011, 08:48:57 PM
I love Frank, and I love the way he coaches, but I have a huge concern that if we start to drop some games and become "mediocre" (if even for a season or two...it won't take long), Frank will go from a "great "fiery" coach that demands the best from his players and gets results" to some "crazy bad person that screams at kids".  The media will dump all over him and I could see recruits shying away.  It's the risk associated with his style, and it's a big one.

It's already happened. Your worst fears have been realized.

I remember when Frank was hired, thinking that if the wins didn't follow it would be real easy for the media and our Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) fanbase to turn on him.    :ohno:

verrrry similar to Huggie... I am not worried. Frank loves the unloveable and there are a LOT of unloveable roundball players. I am full 'tard over Frank.

Is it okay if I say I love Frank but I mish Huggie's recruiting of good players?

Because, I'm pretty sure I've officially reached the point of no return on that one.

boom.  another squawk outs himself on goEMAW.com.   it's almost becoming a joke how often you squawks out yourselves and no one even has to do anything to get a squawk outing now a days.  way different than it used to be when the squawks really didn't out themselves very much.

I can't wait to start really hating frank.

I can.  It is going to mess me up big time.  Like I will need counseling.

Time to tell Dr. Rosenstein we can put my fear of commitment on the back burner for a few sessions.  Whole new ball of wax with the love/hate Frank.

he's going to be gone in about 3-4 years anyway. either because he sucks or because he doesn't get along with the next ad after currie leaves.  judging by frank's recruiting, i say the former.

Really disappointed in many on here . . . I just never expected many on this board to reach, "I'll love Frank no matter what . . . whatever Frank does or says is fine by me" levels so soon.

You are all witnessing the aftermath of the last 2 KSU Elite Eight runs happen right in front of your eyes and you don't know it . . . the only thing different is that K-State is paying 2 of the guys leading the plummet over $2 million a year.

This is the late 1980's all over again.

To borrow a phrase from my good and long time friend and trusted confidant CrustyMcMichiCat. . . Stars Matter.

K-State basketball is paying an assistant coach, a "pipeline guy" $450K plus a year, to apparently not recruit anybody anymore .  .  .  I mean really, really??  That's K-StateO if there was ever K-StateO folks.

Got damn bunch of ball hangers on here.

In other words, if Frank starts losing, it's going to be even easier to fire him. Where's the cause for worry?

(P.S.:  What recruits?)

Dax it's clear you are a CPA and I appreciate your attention to the financials, but as a CPA you are hamstrung by thoughts of cost cutting.  It really reduces the quality of your bbs'ing.

Ftard . . . I don't want to cost cut anything.  I just want the supremely paid Assistant coach to go out and start living up to his pay grade on the recruiting trail.

I get that Dax, I too am disappointed with Te's performance, but recruiting isn't a perfect science and i don't envy the task of trying to convince inner city kids to play bball in Manhattan, KS.  There's bound to be a lot of failure...I'm staying patient.

Right now, a lot of our hopes and fears appear to be riding the Marcus Smart train.

Good luck to me and all of my KSU Cat brethren on that one.  :crossfingers:

I agree on all the delonte needs to produce statements, but i have loved Frank unconditionally since the first day he was hired (when he officially saved our program from the dark abyss.)

This. The biggest problem is that we had some success and now we have a bunch of entitled bitches that will be happy with nothing less than 5* recruits and Final Fours.  Most 5* recruits have their pick of which school they want to go to, why the hell would they choose KSU?  The reality is that we MUST look for the right "fit" becasue 5* kids aren't lining up for a chance to play in the OOD.  That's not defeatist, that's fuckin reality.

My biggest worry is a nuclear holocaust.

Gonna happen....it's not if, but when.   Most likely it will be mass regional destruction (by regional I mean continents) involving a handful of nukes/nuclear material.   Just hopeful not in my lifetime but I'm not holding my breath.

KU is located in lawerence and you see them loaded with 5 stars. I think that's a stupid arguement to say "5 stars do not want to come to the ood" imo, our bball staff is mediocre at best with recruiting. Something has to change. Hopefully the facility will have a big impact on recruiting becuz we are going to be an average ball club if we keep recruiting these bullsh*t glue guys. Gmafb

Great points, no reason we can't recruit on par with Texas/Florida/USC in football and Duke/KU/UNC in basketball.  Those expectations are perfectly realistic....you should never be let down.
