Title: Foods you always buy and then always inevitably throw out??
Post by: I_have_purplewood on December 29, 2010, 07:13:48 PM
1) Celery - Don't even know why I buy the crap.  Always have good intentions of cutting up for some yummy celery and pb.  Nope.  Throw out months later when way past limp.
2) Carrots - Will sometimes eat a half of bag.  Will even eat when they are dried up and white looking just to feel better about not wasting.
3) Eggs - Surprised I haven't died of Salmonella poisoning from eating expired eggs.  Throwing these out don't bother me too though much because they're cheap.
4) Soup - Bet I have no fewer than 7 cans of soup that have an expiration date of 2009 or before sitting in my cupboard.  I apparently don't like tomato soup that much.
5) Cereal - Mainly because I'm lazy and forget to seal that bag inside that holds the cereal and the crap goes stale.  Nothing worse than stale Rice Krispie's amirite?
6) Bread - Pretty good at eating bread but a whole loaf sometimes goes a long way and my bread has to be fresh.  Like fresh fresh.  eff semi-hard bread.

Banana's, pepper's and avocados round out my most thrown out list that I continue to buy because I don't eat in time or don't give a crap.

I do often reflect at my wasteful ways and think about all the homeless and hungry Jap's I could have fed with said thrown out food but then remember I'm not the one who decided to shoot heroin or be born in a poor Country.  :pbj: (ftp://:pbj:)

bags of salad.  If it's in the drawer it may as well be in china.

Yep.  The only thing I can keep down there are spare ICEs.

Lately I've thrown out the 2nd of the 2 hot pockets in the box because I forget to put the box back in the freezer when I throw the first one in the microwave.

Another salad (usually spinach leaves) thrower outer.

BTW - I eat a lot of eggs and usually buy in bulk at Sams Club. I've eaten eggs over 3 months old with no prob. When they start getting over 2 months, I usually just make sure no soft yolks.

I'm REALLY bad about eating leftovers for lunch.  I've been on vacation this week and have cooked dinner and have leftovers but refuse to eat them for lunch the next day.  I've eaten out all week.  Chipotle, goodcents, Original Pizza.  Tomorrow I'm thinking Chipotle.

Throw food out? Why, never. I give everything, even limp celery, to the local food pantry.

Those hungry people will eat anything. :D

Drink the hell out of milk. If anything, it goes too fast.
