This isn't football guys. Losing games early really doesn't change the caliber of team we have at the end of the year.
We will be as good or as bad as we will be regardless of this rough ridin' unlv game, or the florida one, or the duke one.
This was a great opportunity for other people on the team to step up. Granted it didn't result in a win. I don't see how this hurts us, or how we are hurt for the next three games.
If anything this only helps us going forward. The more time that guys like Wally, Nick, VO, JO, Mart, and Sprads get, the better we are at the end of the season.
You're a complete rough ridin' idiot if you think that somehow the last two games spell demise for our team. eff em...if guys want to be idiots and commit violations, I could give a crap less if they come back.
Most importantly, for the first three quarters of a ball game, I was extremely proud of the way our team played. I just hope that when the "Senior Leadership" gets back they have to find a way to fit in with what we have going forward. I saw a bunch of JYC tonight and I'm damn glad I did. I'm tired of those pussy asses being exactly that....
When they come back I hope the come off the bench for a while.
-
Yeah, I'm not melting down after this one. Not nearly as disappointed as I was after FL.
-
We haven't looked good all year. That's what spells our demise, not just the last 2 games dumbass.

yeah and we were rough ridin' phenoms last year at this time....

Actually yeah, we were. Actually if you asked me for a word to describe our team at this time last year "phenoms" would have been the first thing to pop into my head.

and that's why you fall so hard....

phenoms is short for phenominals.
-
yeah who cares, this is like a preseason NFL game. THis is also why college football is fantastic the way it is.

At this point in the season we were playing well, the start of conference play not so much, 4-3 first 7 games

Last year at this time: at UNLV Las Vegas, Nev. W, 95-80

I'm glad you get it now get the eff out of here

Same. I was pretty angry last night, but I'm okay now.
I look at it this way; UNLV returned their entire starting five from an NCAA tournament team, they are well coached, and they're most likely a tournament team. Our underclassmen were in striking distance all night, in the lead some of it, and were ultimately in the game for 39.5 minutes of a horribly officiated game where there was a lot of adversity and pressure.
All things considered, it wasn't meltdown worthy. Am I angry that they didn't win? Sure. The opportunity was there. But it at least lets me believe that there is some hope for the remainder of the year (to get to the NCAA tournament), and for next year if we get the right pieces (AR-T).
Also, as an aside, if AR-T is really as good as folks in Florida are saying he is, I'm thinking he starts from day one next year at point. Based on what I saw last night, I really think that's the case.
-
UNLV is a perfect example of the kind of team we will meet in the tourney.

We have to make the tourney first....

When they come back I hope the come off the bench for a while.
That'll learn 'em!!!
If Pullen doesn't get 30 mins a night in conference play, we're screwed.
Don't know how you could watched that "heartwarming" game last night and come to any other conclusion than that.

Yep.
Now our offense was all kinds of horrible at times last night. Again, we managed to produce good shots at times, and missed them, though not as bad as FL. But the real story was the TOs, and much of the time dumb ones. I can live with aggressive TOs at times, but dribbling into double teams with no outlet and getting ripped from behind b/c you aren't aware of the defense shouldn't happen, and stuff like that happened too often last night. UNLV got 21 points off turnovers compared to only 9 for the Cats. Plus, b/c we failed to make shots off of them, we didn't take advantage of a great OR% game and only got 13 second chance points. If you are going to have an OR% of 44, you better get more than that.
It is interesting we had one of best transition games of the season, getting 11 (almost 19% of our total) fast break points.

Aside from the turnovers, I was pleased with Russell last night. I feel like we got a glimpse of what he could be.
I'm hoping these next two games give him an opportunity to claw his way out of Frank's doghouse and back into the heavy rotation because we need his offense.

Put a positive spin on it for me then, I'm not trying to be a downer here but what have you seen so far that makes us any better than a 7-8 seed?
-
Not trying to positive spin anything.
However, you put Jake and Curt on the court last night and we win by 15pts. UNLV is going to be solidly a tourney team.
Unless Curt gets the axe and Rodney decides to go shopping, we will make the tourney.

The RPI isn't bad right now. The numbers will be on our side.
8-8 with a big win will probably get us in provided we don't lose the first game of the Big 12 tournament.
9-7 almost locks us.

Plenty of Big Mondays available to make this happen

This game isn't a reason to melt down, the fact that you've seen the last of Curtis Kelly in a KSU uni is a much better reason.
-
What's really exciting is that last night showed many Frankite's, Powertards, GoEmawtards and various other shirt tuck types that Frank's recruiting has pretty much . . . sucked.
In essence, Frank has brought in an entire string of "talent" that would have made the Woolites do this
Asprilla, Roberts and several others really have no business putting on a uniform at the Big 12 level.
-
Roberts has a place as a role player tard.

This is really dumb. Anyone who has played/watched a fair amount/vaguely heard of the game of basketball can see these gigantic rough ridin' gaping holes in this team even in these earlier games that aren't going anywhere. We been exposed like we knew we would be at the pg spot and we'll continue being exposed in february. This teams front court isn't the strength many thought it would be, and it still won't be in a month. This team will get better and will still be good, but that statement is just rough ridin' dumb so please keep in at GPC where it belongs.
-
eff em...if guys want to be idiots and commit violations, I could give a crap less if they come back.
Stop being a dummy.

First of all. Great job on the edit to add more disparaging language. It added very little to your post though. The fact that your "retort" in no way corresponds with what I said is confusing. If you want someone to explain what was meant by the statements you quoted feel free to pm me.
So...until you understand the purpose of quoting someone and then posting something to follow, refrain from quoting anything I've posted.

Dummy = what? Wanting the best for the team? Wanting Seniors to play and act like Seniors?

maybe he thinks that it's dumb that you don't want kstate's best two players to play for kstate (which does seem kinda dumb)? :dunno:

I do want them to play for us. I also want them to not be idiots and stop with the conduct that is detrimental to the team on and off the court. I didn't say keep them off the the team. Semantics? maybe, but still true.
I find it strange that people who are so ready to throw in the towel on the season and assume we are finished would care about seniors coming back??? I mean...if the seasons over, why not rebuild????
