Like KSU could ever compete with Vandy for a coach.  Please stick to realistic posibilities, thanks.

They'll be 9-3 and in a nice bowl within three years.

Dammit.

Rest easy Catzacker, we wouldn't have been able afford him anyway.

The Malzahn move would show that Vanderbilt is at least trying to stay relevant. There were reports the school was offering $3 million per season. Clearly Vandy would be overpaying for its losing history to get one of the hottest assistants in the country.

Oh, I completely agree.

They are talking about Auburn offering Gus 1.3 to stay on as OC.  We could hire a hot shot AC if we didn't pay Old Balls so much.  He's making 1.5.  I say we cut OB's salary to $500K, and offer a top notch DC with recruiting ties/talents 1.5.

Surely the man with his name on the rough ridin' building doesn't need to make more money that someone who can help him win, simply to boost his ego, does he?  I mean, wouldn't you expect Bill to be IN FAVOR of an idea like this?  Heck, he was supposed to have been retired....anything he gets now is gravy, right?  I'll be shocked, shocked, if Bill himself doesn't propose something like this in the offseason.  HE IS SMOOTHING WATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

Now we'll find out if Gus Malzahn was to Chizik as Bill Young was to Mangino.  Nice hire by Vanderbilt.

Not only did he turn down Vandy, he chose to stay at a school that will likely get crap on by the NCAA.

I'd guess that this means that Vandy wasn't really offering 3 per.

James Franklin is the possible leading candidate?

Raheem Morris, head coach of Tampa Bay Bucs.
James Franklin, next coach of Vanderbilt.
Josh Freeman, future NFL star.

Ron Prince, irrelevant; legal case in progress; showed up to Indy and now the Colts stink.

Franklin got the HC job.  Guess we can still dream about Gus, for now.

Quick thought on Gus...

I can see why you'd pass on Vandy.  They care about academics, which puts them at a great disadvantage in the SEC.

That said, if Auburn wins the title this year, Malzahn has a Broyles award in his back pocket, and recruits keep talking about how much they want to play for him, he can write his ticket some place much, much better than Vandy.

He won't come here, but UCLA, Clemson, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina and some other good programs could be knocking on his door with big, big, big money offers.
